1 E les dizem: Se um homem despedir sua mulher, e ela se desligar dele, e se ajuntar a outro homem, porventura tornará ele mais para ela? Não se poluiria de todo aquela terra? Ora, tu te maculaste com muitos amantes; mas ainda assim, torna para mim, diz o Senbor.

Saying, `Lo, one sendeth away his wife, And she hath gone from him, And she hath been to another man, Doth he turn back unto her again? Greatly defiled is not that land? And thou hast committed whoredom with many lovers, And turn again to Me, an affirmation of Jehovah.

2 L evanta os teus olhos aos altos escalvados, e vê: onde é o lugar em que não te prostituíste? Nos caminhos te assentavas, esperando-os, como o árabe no deserto. Manchaste a terra com as tuas devassidões e com a tua malícia.

Lift thine eyes to the high places, and see, Where hast thou not been lain with? On the ways thou hast sat for them, As an Arab in a wilderness, And thou defilest the land, By thy fornications, and by thy wickedness.

3 P elo que foram retidas as chuvas copiosas, e não houve chuva tardia; contudo tens a fronte de uma prostituta, e não queres ter vergonha.

And withheld are showers, and gathered rain hath not been. The forehead of a whorish woman thou hast, Thou hast refused to be ashamed.

4 N ão me invocaste há pouco, dizendo: Pai meu, tu és o guia da minha mocidade;

Hast thou not henceforth called to Me, `My father, Thou the leader of my youth?

5 R eterá ele para sempre a sua ira? ou indignar-se-á continuamente? Eis que assim tens dito; porém tens feito todo o mal que pudeste.

Doth He keep to the age? watch for ever?' Lo, these things thou hast spoken, And thou dost the evil things, and prevailest.

6 D isse-me mais o Senhor nos dias do rei Josias: Viste, porventura, o que fez a apóstata Israel, como se foi a todo monte alto, e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa, e ali andou prostituindo-se?

And Jehovah saith unto me, in the days of Josiah the king, `Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? She is going on every high mountain, and unto the place of every green tree, and committeth fornication there.

7 E eu disse: Depois que ela tiver feito tudo isso, voltará para mim. Mas não voltou; e viu isso a sua aleivosa irmã Judá.

And I say, after her doing all these, Unto Me thou dost turn back, and she hath not turned back, and see doth her treacherous sister Judah.

8 S im viu que, por causa de tudo isso, por ter cometido adultério a pérfida Israel, a despedi, e lhe dei o seu libelo de divórcio, que a aleivosa Judá, sua irmã, não temeu; mas se foi e também ela mesma se prostituiu.

And I see when (for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery) I have sent her away, and I give the bill of her divorce unto her, that treacherous Judah her sister hath not feared, and goeth and committeth fornication -- she also.

9 E pela leviandade da sua prostituição contaminou a terra, porque adulterou com a pedra e com o pau.

And it hath come to pass, from the vileness of her fornication, that the land is defiled, and she committeth fornication with stone and with wood.

10 C ontudo, apesar de tudo isso a sua aleivosa irmã Judá não voltou para mim de todo o seu coração, mas fingidamente, diz o Senhor.

And even in all this her treacherous sister Judah hath not turned back unto Me with all her heart, but with falsehood, an affirmation of Jehovah.'

11 E o Senhor me disse: A pérfida Israel mostrou-se mais justa do que a aleivosa Judá.

And Jehovah saith unto me: `Justified herself hath backsliding Israel, More than treacherous Judah.

12 V ai, pois, e apregoa estas palavras para a banda do norte, e diz: Volta, ó pérfida Israel, diz o Senhor. Não olharei em era para ti; porque misericordioso sou, diz o Senhor, e não conservarei para sempre a minha ira.

Go, and thou hast proclaimed these words toward the north, and hast said, Turn back, O backsliding Israel, An affirmation of Jehovah! I cause not Mine anger to fall upon you, For I kind, an affirmation of Jehovah, I watch not to the age.

13 S omente reconhece a tua iniqüidade: que contra o Senhor teu Deus transgrediste, e estendeste os teus favores para os estranhos debaixo de toda árvore frondosa, e não deste ouvidos ã minha voz, diz o Senhor.

Only, know thine iniquity, For against Jehovah thy God thou hast transgressed, And thou dost scatter thy ways to strangers, Under every green tree, And to My voice thou hast not hearkened, An affirmation of Jehovah.

14 V oltai, ó filhos pérfidos, diz o Senhor; porque eu sou como esposo para vós; e vos tomarei, a um de uma cidade, e a dois de uma família; e vos levarei a Sião;

Turn back, O backsliding sons, An affirmation of Jehovah. For I have ruled over you, And taken you one of a city, and two of a family, And have brought you to Zion,

15 e vos darei pastores segundo o meu coração, os quais vos apascentarão com ciência e com inteligência.

And I have given to you shepherds According to Mine own heart, And they have fed you with knowledge and understanding.

16 E quando vos tiverdes multiplicado e frutificado na terra, naqueles dias, diz o Senhor, nunca mais se dirá: A arca do pacto do Senhor; nem lhes virá ela ao pensamento; nem dela se lembrarão; nem a visitarão; nem se fará mais.

And it hath come to pass, when ye are multiplied, And have been fruitful in the land, In those days -- an affirmation of Jehovah, They say not any more, `The ark of the covenant of Jehovah,' Nor doth it go up on the heart, Nor do they remember concerning it, Nor do they inspect, nor is it made again.

17 N aquele tempo chamarão a Jerusalém o trono do Senhor; e todas as nações se ajuntarão a ela, em nome do Senhor, a Jerusalém; e não mais andarão obstinadamente segundo o propósito do seu coração maligno.

At that time they cry to Jerusalem, `O throne of Jehovah,' And gathered unto her hath been all the nations, For the name of Jehovah, to Jerusalem, Nor do they go any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.

18 N aqueles dias andará a casa de Judá com a casa de Israel; e virão juntas da terra do norte, para a terra que dei em herança a vossos pais.

In those days do the house of Judah Go unto the house of Israel, And they come together from the land of the south, unto the land That I caused your fathers to inherit.

19 P ensei como te poria entre os filhos, e te daria a terra desejável, a mais formosa herança das nações. Também pensei que me chamarias meu Pai, e que de mim não te desviarias.

And I have said, How do I put thee among the sons, And give to thee a desirable land, A beauteous inheritance of the hosts of nations, And I say, My father -- ye do call to Me, And from after Me ye do not turn back.

20 D everas, como a mulher se aparta aleivosamente do seu marido, assim aleivosamente te houveste comigo, ó casa de Israel, diz o Senhor.

But -- a woman hath deceived her friend, So ye have dealt treacherously with Me, O house of Israel, an affirmation of Jehovah.

21 N os altos escalvados se ouve uma voz, o pranto e as súplicas dos filhos de Israel; porque perverteram o seu caminho, e se esqueceram do Senhor seu Deus.

A voice on high places is heard -- weeping, Supplications of the sons of Israel, For they have made perverse their way, They have forgotten Jehovah their God.

22 V oltai, ó filhos infiéis, eu curarei a vossa infidelidade. Responderam eles: Eis-nos aqui, vimos a ti, porque tu és o Senhor nosso Deus.

Turn back, O backsliding sons, I cause your backslidings to cease. -- Behold us, we have come to Thee, For Thou Jehovah our God.

23 C ertamente em vão se confia nos outeiros e nas orgias nas montanhas; deveras no Senhor nosso Deus está a salvação de Israel.

Surely in vain from the heights, The multitude of mountains -- Surely in Jehovah our God the salvation of Israel.

24 A coisa vergonhosa, porém, devorou o trabalho de nossos pais desde a nossa mocidade os seus rebanhos e os seus gados os seus filhos e as suas filhas.

And the shameful thing hath devoured The labour of our fathers from our youth, Their flock and their herd, Their sons and their daughters.

25 D eitemo-nos em nossa vergonha, e cubra-nos a nossa confusão, porque temos pecado contra o Senhor nosso Deus, nós e nossos pais, desde a nossa mocidade até o dia de hoje; e não demos ouvidos ã voz do Senhor nosso Deus.

We have lain down in our shame, and cover us doth our confusion, For against Jehovah our God we have sinned, We, and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, Nor have we hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God!
