1 O ra, quanto ã vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e ã nossa reunião com ele, rogamos-vos, irmãos,

And we ask you, brethren, in regard to the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him,

2 q ue não vos movais facilmente do vosso modo de pensar, nem vos perturbeis, quer por espírito, quer por palavra, quer por epístola como enviada de nós, como se o dia do Senhor estivesse já perto.

that ye be not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the day of Christ hath arrived;

3 N inguém de modo algum vos engane; porque isto não sucederá sem que venha primeiro a apostasia e seja revelado o homem do pecado, o filho da perdição,

let not any one deceive you in any manner, because -- if the falling away may not come first, and the man of sin be revealed -- the son of the destruction,

4 a quele que se opõe e se levanta contra tudo o que se chama Deus ou é objeto de adoração, de sorte que se assenta no santuário de Deus, apresentando-se como Deus.

who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God hath sat down, shewing himself off that he is God --.

5 N ão vos lembrais de que eu vos dizia estas coisas quando ainda estava convosco?

Do ye not remember that, being yet with you, these things I said to you?

6 E agora vós sabeis o que o detém para que a seu próprio tempo seja revelado.

and now, what is keeping down ye have known, for his being revealed in his own time,

7 P ois o mistério da iniqüidade já opera; somente há um que agora o detém até que seja posto fora;

for the secret of the lawlessness doth already work, only he who is keeping down now -- till he may be out of the way,

8 e então será revelado esse iníquo, a quem o Senhor Jesus matará como o sopro de sua boca e destruirá com a manifestação da sua vinda;

and then shall be revealed the Lawless One, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the manifestation of his presence,

9 a esse iníquo cuja vinda é segundo a eficácia de Satanás com todo o poder e sinais e prodígios de mentira,

whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders,

10 e com todo o engano da injustiça para os que perecem, porque não receberam o amor da verdade para serem salvos.

and in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because the love of the truth they did not receive for their being saved,

11 E por isso Deus lhes envia a operação do erro, para que creiam na mentira;

and because of this shall God send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie,

12 p ara que sejam julgados todos os que não creram na verdade, antes tiveram prazer na injustiça.

that they may be judged -- all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness.

13 M as nós devemos sempre dar graças a Deus por vós, irmãos, amados do Senhor, porque Deus vos escolheu desde o princípio para a santificação do espírito e a fé na verdade,

And we -- we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, that God did choose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth,

14 e para isso vos chamou pelo nosso evangelho, para alcançardes a glória de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.

to which He did call you through our good news, to the acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ;

15 A ssim, pois, irmãos, estai firmes e conservai as tradições que vos foram ensinadas, seja por palavra, seja por epístola nossa.

so, then, brethren, stand ye fast, and hold the deliverances that ye were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter;

16 E o próprio Senhor nosso, Jesus Cristo, e Deus nosso Pai que nos amou e pela graça nos deu uma eterna consolação e boa esperança,

and may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who did love us, and did give comfort age-during, and good hope in grace,

17 c onsole os vossos corações e os confirme em toda boa obra e palavra.

comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
