1 P areceu bem a Dario constituir sobre o reino cento e vinte sátrapas, que estivessem por todo o reino;

It hath been good before Darius, and he hath established over the kingdom satraps -- a hundred and twenty -- that they may be throughout the whole kingdom,

2 e sobre eles três presidentes, dos quais Daniel era um; a fim de que estes sátrapas lhes dessem conta, e que o rei não sofresse dano.

and higher than they three presidents, of whom Daniel first, that these satraps may give to them an account, and the king have no loss.

3 E ntão o mesmo Daniel sobrepujava a estes presidentes e aos sátrapas; porque nele havia um espírito excelente; e o rei pensava constituí-lo sobre todo o reino:

Then this Daniel hath been overseer over the presidents and satraps, because that an excellent spirit in him, and the king hath thought to establish him over the whole kingdom.

4 N isso os presidentes e os sátrapas procuravam achar ocasião contra Daniel a respeito do reino mas não podiam achar ocasião ou falta alguma; porque ele era fiel, e não se achava nele nenhum erro nem falta.

Then the presidents and satraps have been seeking to find a cause of complaint against Daniel concerning the kingdom, and any cause of complaint and corruption they are not able to find, because that he faithful, and any error and corruption have not been found in him.

5 P elo que estes homens disseram: Nunca acharemos ocasião alguma contra este Daniel, a menos que a procuremos no que diz respeito a lei do seu Deus.

Then these men are saying, `We do not find against this Daniel any cause of complaint, except we have found against him in the law of his God.'

6 E ntão os presidentes e os sátrapas foram juntos ao rei, e disseram-lhe assim: ç rei Dario, vive para sempre.

Then these presidents and satraps have assembled near the king, and thus they are saying to him: `O king Darius, to the ages live!

7 T odos os presidentes do reino, os prefeitos e os sátrapas, os conselheiros e os governadores, concordaram em que o rei devia baixar um decreto e publicar o respectivo interdito, que qualquer que, por espaço de trinta dias, fizer uma petição a qualquer deus, ou a qualquer homem, exceto a ti, ó rei, seja lançado na cova dos leões.

Taken counsel have all the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects, and the satraps, the counsellors, and the governors, to establish a royal statute, and to strengthen an interdict, that any who seeketh a petition from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions.

8 A gora pois, ó rei, estabelece o interdito, e assina o edital, para que não seja mudado, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que não se pode revogar.

Now, O king, thou dost establish the interdict, and sign the writing, that it is not to be changed, as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

9 E m virtude disto o rei Dario assinou o edital e o interdito.

Therefore king Darius hath signed the writing and interdict.

10 Q uando Daniel soube que o edital estava assinado, entrou em sua casa, no seu quarto em cima, onde estavam abertas as janelas que davam para o lado de Jerusalém; e três vezes no dia se punha de joelhos e orava, e dava graças diante do seu Deus, como também antes costumava fazer.

And Daniel, when he hath known that the writing is signed, hath gone up to his house, and the window being opened for him, in his upper chamber, over-against Jerusalem, three times in a day he is kneeling on his knees, and praying, and confessing before his God, because that he was doing before this.

11 E ntão aqueles homens foram juntos, e acharam a Daniel orando e suplicando diante do seu Deus.

Then these men have assembled, and found Daniel praying and entreating grace before his God;

12 D epois se foram ã presença do rei e lhe perguntaram no tocante ao interdito real: Porventura não assinaste um interdito pelo qual todo homem que fizesse uma petição a qualquer deus, ou a qualquer homem por espaço de trinta dias, exceto a ti, ó rei, fosse lançado na cova dos leões? Respondeu o rei, e disse: Esta palavra é certa, conforme a lei dos medos e dos persas, que não se pode revogar.

then they have come near, yea, they are saying before the king concerning the king's interdict: `Hast thou not signed an interdict, that any man who seeketh from any god and man until thirty days, save of thee, O king, is cast into a den of lions?' Answered hath the king, and said, `The thing certain as a law of Media and Persia, that doth not pass away.'

13 E ntão responderam ao rei, dizendo-lhe Esse Daniel, que é dos exilados de Judá, e não tem feito caso de ti, ó rei, nem do interdito que assinaste; antes três vezes por dia faz a sua oração.

Then they have answered, yea, they are saying before the king, that, `Daniel, who of the sons of the Removed of Judah, hath not placed on thee, O king, regard, nor on the interdict that thou hast signed, and three times in a day he is seeking his petition.'

14 O uvindo então o rei a notícia, ficou muito penalizado, e a favor de Daniel propôs dentro do seu coração livrá-lo; e até o pôr do sol trabalhou para o salvar.

Then the king, when he hath heard the matter, is greatly displeased at himself, and on Daniel he hath set the heart to deliver him, and till the going up of the sun he was arranging to deliver him.

15 N isso aqueles homens foram juntos ao rei, e lhe disseram: Sabe, ó rei, que é lei dos medos e persas que nenhum interdito ou decreto que o rei estabelecer, se pode mudar.

Then these men have assembled near the king, and are saying to the king, `know, O king, that the law of Media and Persia: That any interdict and statute that the king doth establish is not to be changed.'

16 E ntão o rei deu ordem, e trouxeram Daniel, e o lançaram na cova dos leões. Ora, disse o rei a Daniel: O teu Deus, a quem tu continuamente serves, ele te livrará.

Then the king hath said, and they have brought Daniel, and have cast into a den of lions. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, `Thy God, whom thou art serving continually, Himself doth deliver thee.'

17 E uma pedra foi trazida e posta sobre a boca da cova; e o rei a selou com o seu anel e com o anel dos seus grandes, para que no tocante a Daniel nada se mudasse:

And a stone hath been brought and placed at the mouth of the den, and the king hath sealed it with his signet, and with the signet of his great men, that the purpose be not changed concerning Daniel.

18 D epois o rei se dirigiu para o seu palácio, e passou a noite em jejum; e não foram trazidos ã sua presença instrumentos de música, e fugiu dele o sono.

Then hath the king gone to his palace, and he hath passed the night fasting, and dahavan have not been brought up before him, and his sleep hath fled off him.

19 E ntão o rei se levantou ao romper do dia, e foi com pressa ã cova dos leões.

Then doth the king rise in the early morning, at the light, and in haste to the den of lions he hath gone;

20 E , chegando-se ã cova, chamou por Daniel com voz triste; e disse o rei a Daniel: ç Daniel, servo do Deus vivo, dar-se-ia o caso que o teu Deus, a quem tu continuamente serves, tenha podido livrar- te dos leões?

and at his coming near to the den, to Daniel, with a grieved voice, he crieth. The king hath answered and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, thy God, whom thou art serving continually, is He able to deliver thee from the lions?'

21 E ntão Daniel falou ao rei: ç rei, vive para sempre.

Then Daniel hath spoken with the king: `O king, to the ages live:

22 O meu Deus enviou o seu anjo, e fechou a boca dos leões, e eles não me fizeram mal algum; porque foi achada em mim inocência diante dele; e também diante de ti, ó rei, não tenho cometido delito algum.

my God hath sent His messenger, and hath shut the lions' mouths, and they have not injured me: because that before Him purity hath been found in me; and also before thee, O king, injury I have not done.'

23 E ntão o rei muito se alegrou, e mandou tirar a Daniel da cova. Assim foi tirado Daniel da cova, e não se achou nele lesão alguma, porque ele havia confiado em seu Deus.

Then was the king very glad for him, and he hath commanded Daniel to be taken up out of the den, and Daniel hath been taken up out of the den, and no injury hath been found in him, because he hath believed in his God.

24 E o rei deu ordem, e foram trazidos aqueles homens que tinham acusado Daniel, e foram lançados na cova dos leões, eles, seus filhos e suas mulheres; e ainda não tinham chegado ao fundo da cova quando os leões se apoderaram deles, e lhes esmigalharam todos os ossos.

And the king hath said, and they have brought those men who had accused Daniel, and to the den of lions they have cast them, they, their sons, and their wives; and they have not come to the lower part of the den till that the lions have power over them, and all their bones they have broken small.

25 E ntão o rei Dario escreveu a todos os povos, nações e línguas que moram em toda a terra: Paz vos seja multiplicada.

Then Darius the king hath written to all the peoples, nations, and languages, who are dwelling in all the land: `Your peace be great!

26 C om isto faço um decreto, pelo qual em todo o domínio do meu reino os homens tremam e temam perante o Deus de Daniel; porque ele é o Deus vivo, e permanece para sempre; e o seu reino nunca será destruído; o seu domínio durará até o fim.

From before me is made a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom they are trembling and fearing before the God of Daniel, for He the living God, and abiding to the ages, and His kingdom that which not destroyed, and His dominion unto the end.

27 E le livra e salva, e opera sinais e maravilhas no céu e na terra; foi ele quem livrou Daniel do poder dos leões.

A deliverer, and rescuer, and doer of signs and wonders in the heavens and in earth He who hath delivered Daniel from the paw of the lions.'

28 E ste Daniel, pois, prosperou no reinado de Dario, e no reinado de Ciro, o persa.

And this Daniel hath prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
