1 E is que eu envio o meu mensageiro, e ele há de preparar o caminho diante de mim; e de repente virá ao seu templo o Senhor, a quem vós buscais, e o anjo do pacto, a quem vós desejais; eis que ele vem, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.

Lo, I am sending My messenger, And he hath prepared a way before Me, And suddenly come in unto his temple Doth the Lord whom ye are seeking, Even the messenger of the covenant, Whom ye are desiring, Lo, he is coming, said Jehovah of Hosts.

2 M as quem suportará o dia da sua vinda? e quem subsistirá, quando ele aparecer? Pois ele será como o fogo de fundidor e como o sabão de lavandeiros;

And who is bearing the day of his coming? And who is standing in his appearing? For he as fire of a refiner, And as soap of a fuller.

3 a ssentar-se-á como fundidor e purificador de prata; e purificará os filhos de Levi, e os refinará como ouro e como prata, até que tragam ao Senhor ofertas em justiça.

And he hath sat, a refiner and purifier of silver, And he hath purified the sons of Levi, And hath refined them as gold and as silver, And they have been to Jehovah bringing nigh a present in righteousness.

4 E ntão a oferta de Judá e de Jerusalém será agradável ao Senhor, como nos dias antigos, e como nos primeiros anos.

And sweet to Jehovah hath been the present of Judah and Jerusalem, As in days of old, and as in former years.

5 E chegar-me-ei a vós para juízo; e serei uma testemunha veloz contra os feiticeiros, contra os adúlteros, contra os que juram falsamente, contra os que defraudam o trabalhador em seu salário, a viúva, e o órfão, e que pervertem o direito do estrangeiro, e não me temem, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.

And I have drawn near to you for judgment, And I have been a witness, Making haste against sorcerers, And against adulterers, And against swearers to a falsehood, And against oppressors of the hire of an hireling, Of a widow, and of a fatherless one, And those turning aside a sojourner, And who fear Me not, said Jehovah of Hosts.

6 P ois eu, o Senhor, não mudo; por isso vós, ó filhos de Jacó, não sois consumidos.

For I Jehovah, I have not changed, And ye, the sons of Jacob, Ye have not been consumed.

7 D esde os dias de vossos pais vos desviastes dos meus estatutos, e não os guardastes. Tornai vós para mim, e eu tornarei para vós diz o Senhor dos exércitos. Mas vós dizeis: Em que havemos de tornar?

Even from the days of your fathers Ye have turned aside from My statutes, And ye have not taken heed. Turn back unto Me, and I turn back to you, Said Jehovah of Hosts. And ye have said, `In what do we turn back?'

8 R oubará o homem a Deus? Todavia vós me roubais, e dizeis: Em que te roubamos? Nos dízimos e nas ofertas alçadas.

Doth man deceive God? but ye are deceiving Me, And ye have said: `In what have we deceived Thee?' The tithe and the heave-offering!

9 V ós sois amaldiçoados com a maldição; porque a mim me roubais, sim, vós, esta nação toda.

With a curse ye are cursed! And Me ye are deceiving -- this nation -- all of it.

10 T razei todos os dízimos ã casa do tesouro, para que haja mantimento na minha casa, e depois fazei prova de mim, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, se eu não vos abrir as janelas do céu, e não derramar sobre vós tal bênção, que dela vos advenha a maior abastança.

Bring in all the tithe unto the treasure-house, And there is food in My house; When ye have tried Me, now, with this, Said Jehovah of Hosts, Do not I open to you the windows of heaven? Yea, I have emptied on you a blessing till there is no space.

11 T ambém por amor de vós reprovarei o devorador, e ele não destruirá os frutos da vossa terra; nem a vossa vide no campo lançará o seu fruto antes do tempo, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.

And I have pushed for you against the consumer, And He doth not destroy to you the fruit of the ground, Nor miscarry to you doth the vine in the field, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

12 E todas as nações vos chamarão bem-aventurados; porque vós sereis uma terra deleitosa, diz o Senhor dos exércitos.

And declared you happy have all the nations, For ye are a delightful land, said Jehovah of Hosts.

13 A s vossas palavras foram agressivas para mim, diz o Senhor. Mas vós dizeis: Que temos falado contra ti?

Hard against Me have been your words, Said Jehovah, and ye have said: `What have we spoken against Thee?'

14 V ós tendes dito: lnútil é servir a Deus. Que nos aproveita termos cuidado em guardar os seus preceitos, e em andar de luto diante do Senhor dos exércitos?

Ye have said, `A vain thing to serve God! And what gain when we kept His charge? And when we have gone in black, Because of Jehovah of Hosts?

15 O ra pois, nós reputamos por bem-aventurados os soberbos; também os que cometem impiedade prosperam; sim, eles tentam a Deus, e escapam.

And now, we are declaring the proud happy, Yea, built up have been those doing wickedness, Yea they have tempted God, and escape.'

16 E ntão aqueles que temiam ao Senhor falaram uns aos outros; e o Senhor atentou e ouviu, e um memorial foi escrito diante dele, para os que temiam ao Senhor, e para os que se lembravam do seu nome.

Then have those fearing Jehovah spoken one to another, And Jehovah doth attend and hear, And written is a book of memorial before Him Of those fearing Jehovah, And of those esteeming His name.

17 E eles serão meus, diz o Senhor dos exércitos, minha possessão particular naquele dia que prepararei; poupá-los-ei, como um homem poupa a seu filho, que o serve.

And they have been to Me, said Jehovah of Hosts, In the day that I am appointing -- a peculiar treasure, And I have had pity on them, As one hath pity on his son who is serving him.

18 E ntão vereis outra vez a diferença entre o justo e o ímpio; entre o que serve a Deus, e o que o não serve.

And ye have turned back and considered, Between the righteous and the wicked, Between the servant of God and him who is not His servant.
