To the Overseer. -- By David. A fool hath said in his heart, `God is not;' They have done corruptly, They have done abominable actions, There is not a doer of good.

2 O Senhor olhou do céu para os filhos dos homens, para ver se havia algum que tivesse entendimento, que buscasse a Deus.

Jehovah from the heavens Hath looked on the sons of men, To see if there is a wise one -- seeking God.

3 D esviaram-se todos e juntamente se fizeram imundos; não há quem faça o bem, não há sequer um.

The whole have turned aside, Together they have been filthy: There is not a doer of good, not even one.

4 A caso não tem conhecimento nem sequer um dos que praticam a iniqüidade, que comem o meu povo como se comessem pão, e que não invocam o Senhor?

Have all working iniquity not known? Those consuming my people have eaten bread, Jehovah they have not called.

5 A char-se-ão ali em grande pavor, porque Deus está na geração dos justos.

There they have feared a fear, For God in the generation of the righteous.

6 V ós quereis frustar o conselho dos pobres, mas o Senhor é o seu refúgio.

The counsel of the poor ye cause to stink, Because Jehovah his refuge.

7 O xalá que de Sião viesse a salvação de Israel! Quando o Senhor fizer voltar os cativos do seu povo, então se regozijará Jacó e se alegrará Israel.

`Who doth give from Zion the salvation of Israel? When Jehovah doth turn back a captivity of His people, Jacob doth rejoice -- Israel is glad!
