1 O s céus proclamam a glória de Deus e o firmamento anuncia a obra das suas mãos.

To the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. The heavens recounting the honour of God, And the work of His hands The expanse declaring.

2 U m dia faz declaração a outro dia, e uma noite revela conhecimento a outra noite.

Day to day uttereth speech, And night to night sheweth knowledge.

3 N ão há fala, nem palavras; não se lhes ouve a voz.

There is no speech, and there are no words. Their voice hath not been heard.

4 P or toda a terra estende-se a sua linha, e as suas palavras até os consfins do mundo. Neles pôs uma tenda para o sol,

Into all the earth hath their line gone forth, And to the end of the world their sayings, For the sun He placed a tent in them,

5 q ue é qual noivo que sai do seu tálamo, e se alegra, como um herói, a correr a sua carreira.

And he, as a bridegroom, goeth out from his covering, He rejoiceth as a mighty one To run the path.

6 A sua saída é desde uma extremidade dos céus, e o seu curso até a outra extremidade deles; e nada se esconde ao seu calor.

From the end of the heavens his going out, And his revolution unto their ends, And nothing is hid from his heat.

7 A lei do Senhor é perfeita, e refrigera a alma; o testemunho do Senhor é fiel, e dá sabedoria aos simples.

The law of Jehovah perfect, refreshing the soul, The testimonies of Jehovah stedfast, Making wise the simple,

8 O s preceitos do Senhor são retos, e alegram o coração; o mandamento do Senhor é puro, e alumia os olhos.

The precepts of Jehovah upright, Rejoicing the heart, The command of Jehovah pure, enlightening the eyes,

9 O temor do Senhor é limpo, e permanece para sempre; os juízos do Senhor são verdadeiros e inteiramente justos.

The fear of Jehovah clean, standing to the age, The judgments of Jehovah true, They have been righteous -- together.

10 M ais desejáveis são do que o ouro, sim, do que muito ouro fino; e mais doces do que o mel e o que goteja dos favos.

They are more desirable than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; and sweeter than honey, Even liquid honey of the comb.

11 T ambém por eles o teu servo é advertido; e em os guardar há grande recompensa.

Also -- Thy servant is warned by them, `In keeping them a great reward.'

12 Q uem pode discernir os próprios erros? Purifica-me tu dos que me são ocultos.

Errors! who doth understand? From hidden ones declare me innocent,

13 T ambém de pecados de presunção guarda o teu servo, para que não se assenhoreiem de mim; então serei perfeito, e ficarei limpo de grande transgressão.

Also -- from presumptuous ones keep back Thy servant, Let them not rule over me, Then am I perfect, And declared innocent of much transgression,

14 S ejam agradáveis as palavras da minha boca e a meditação do meu coração perante a tua face, Senhor, Rocha minha e Redentor meu!

Let the sayings of my mouth, And the meditation of my heart, Be for a pleasing thing before Thee, O Jehovah, my rock, and my redeemer!
