1 O ra, foi anunciado a Davi: Eis que os filisteus pelejam contra Queila e saqueiam as eiras.

And they declare to David, saying, `Lo, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are spoiling the threshing-floors.'

2 P elo que consultou Davi ao Senhor, dizendo: Irei eu, e ferirei a esses filisteus? Respondeu o Senhor a Davi: Vai, fere aos filisteus e salva a Queila.

And David asketh at Jehovah, saying, `Do I go? -- and have I smitten among these Philistines?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go, and thou hast smitten among the Philistines, and saved Keilah.'

3 M as os homens de Davi lhe disseram: Eis que tememos aqui em Judá, quanta mais se formos a Queila, contra o exército dos filisteus!

And David's men say unto him, `Lo, we here in Judah are afraid; and how much more when we go to Keilah, unto the ranks of the Philistines?'

4 D avi, pois, tornou a consultar ao Senhor, e o Senhor lhe respondeu: Levanta-te, desce a Queila, porque eu hei de entregar os filisteus na tua mão.

And David addeth again to ask at Jehovah, and Jehovah answereth him, and saith, `Rise, go down to Keilah, for I am giving the Philistines into thy hand.'

5 E ntão Davi partiu com os seus homens para Queila, pelejou contra os filisteus, levou-lhes o gado, e fez grande matança entre eles; assim Davi salvou os moradores de Queila.

And David goeth, and his men, to Keilah, and fighteth with the Philistines, and leadeth away their cattle, and smiteth among them -- a great smiting, and David saveth the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 O ra, quando Abiatar, filho de Aimeleque, fugiu para Davi, a Queila, desceu com um éfode na mão.

And it cometh to pass, in the fleeing of Abiathar son of Ahimelech unto David, to Keilah, an ephod came down in his hand.

7 E ntão foi anunciado a Saul que Davi tinha ido a Queila; e disse Saul: Deus o entregou nas minhas mãos; pois está encerrado, porque entrou numa cidade que tem portas e ferrolhos.

And it is declared to Saul that David hath come in to Keilah, and Saul saith, `God hath made him known for my hand, for he hath been shut in, to enter into a city of doors and bar.'

8 E convocou todo o povo ã peleja, para descerem a Queila, e cercar a Davi e os seus homens.

And Saul summoneth the whole of the people to battle, to go down to Keilah, to lay siege unto David and unto his men.

9 S abendo, pois, Davi que Saul maquinava este mal contra ele, disse a Abiatar, sacerdote: Traze aqui o éfode.

And David knoweth that against him Saul is devising the evil, and saith unto Abiathar the priest, `Bring nigh the ephod.'

10 E disse Davi: ç Senhor, Deus de Israel, teu servo acaba de ouvir que Saul procura vir a Queila, para destruir a cidade por causa de mim.

And David saith, `Jehovah, God of Israel, Thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul is seeking to come in unto Keilah, to destroy the city on mine account.

11 E ntregar-me-ão os cidadãos de Queila na mão dele? descerá Saul, como o teu servo tem ouvido? Ah, Senhor Deus de Israel! faze-o saber ao teu servo. Respondeu o Senhor: Descerá.

Do the possessors of Keilah shut me up into his hand? doth Saul come down as Thy servant hath heard? Jehovah, God of Israel, declare, I pray Thee, to Thy servant.' And Jehovah saith, `He doth come down.'

12 D isse mais Davi: Entregar-me-ão os cidadãos de Queila, a mim e aos meus homens, nas mãos de Saul? E respondeu o Senhor: Entregarão.

And David saith, `Do the possessors of Keilah shut me up, and my men, into the hand of Saul?' And Jehovah saith, `They shut up.'

13 L evantou-se, então, Davi com os seus homens, cerca de seiscentos, e saíram de Queila, e foram-se aonde puderam. Saul, quando lhe foi anunciado que Davi escapara de Queila, deixou de sair contra ele.

And David riseth -- and his men -- about six hundred men, and they go out from Keilah, and go up and down where they go up and down; and to Saul it hath been declared that David hath escaped from Keilah, and he ceaseth to go out.

14 E Davi ficou no deserto, em lugares fortes, permanecendo na região montanhosa no deserto de Zife. Saul o buscava todos os dias, porém Deus não o entregou na sua mao.

And David abideth in the wilderness, in fortresses, and abideth in the hill-country, in the wilderness of Ziph; and Saul seeketh him all the days, and God hath not given him into his hand.

15 V endo, pois, Davi que Saul saíra ã busca da sua vida, esteve no deserto de Zife, em Hores.

And David seeth that Saul hath come out to seek his life, and David in the wilderness of Ziph, in a forest.

16 E ntão se levantou Jônatas, filho de Saul, e foi ter com Davi em Hores, e o confortou em Deus;

And Jonathan son of Saul riseth, and goeth unto David to the forest, and strengtheneth his hand in God,

17 e disse-lhe: Não temas; porque não te achará a mão de Saul, meu pai; porém tu reinarás sobre Israel, e eu serei contigo o segundo; o que também Saul, meu pai, bem sabe.

and saith unto him, `Fear not, for the hand of Saul my father doth not find thee, and thou dost reign over Israel, and I am to thee for second, and also so knoweth Saul my father.'

18 E ambos fizeram aliança perante o Senhor; Davi ficou em Hores, e Jônatas, voltou para sua casa.

And they make a covenant both of them before Jehovah; and David abideth in the forest, and Jonathan hath gone to his house.

19 E ntão subiram os zifeus a Saul, a Gibea, dizendo: Não se escondeu Davi entre nós, nos lugares fortes em Hores, no outeiro de Haquila, que está ã mão direita de Jesimom?

And the Ziphites go up unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, `Is not David hiding himself with us in fortresses, in the forest, in the height of Hachilah, which on the south of the desolate place?

20 A gora, pois, ó rei, desce apressadamente, conforme todo o desejo da tua alma; a nós nos cumpre entregá-lo nas mãos do rei.

And, now, by all the desire of thy soul, O king, to come down, come down, and ours to shut him up into the hand of the king.'

21 E ntão disse Saul: Benditos sejais vós do Senhor, porque vos compadecestes de mim:

And Saul saith, `Blessed ye of Jehovah, for ye have pity on me;

22 I de, pois, informai-vos ainda melhor; sabei e notai o lugar que ele freqüenta, e quem o tenha visto ali; porque me foi dito que é muito astuto.

go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his foot is; who hath seen him there? for hath said unto me, He is very subtile.

23 P elo que atentai bem, e informai-vos acerca de todos os esconderijos em que ele se oculta; e então voltai para mim com notícias exatas, e eu irei convosco. E há de ser que, se estiver naquela terra, eu o buscarei entre todos os milhares de Judá.

And see and know of all the hiding-places where he hideth himself, and ye have turned back unto me prepared, and I have gone with you, and it hath been, if he is in the land, that I have searched him out through all the thousands of Judah.'

24 E les, pois, se levantaram e foram a Zife adiante de Saul; Davi, porém, e os seus homens estavam no deserto de Maom, na campina ao sul de Jesimom.

And they rise and go to Ziph before Saul, and David and his men in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain, at the south of the desolate place.

25 E Saul e os seus homens foram em busca dele. Sendo isso anunciado a Davi, desceu ele ã penha que está no deserto de Maom. Ouvindo-o Saul, foi ao deserto de Maom, a perseguir Davi.

And Saul and his men go to seek, and they declare to David, and he goeth down the rock, and abideth in the wilderness of Maon; and Saul heareth, and pursueth after David the wilderness of Maon.

26 S aul ia de uma banda do monte, e Davi e os seus homens da outra banda. E Davi se apressava para escapar, por medo de Saul, porquanto Saul e os seus homens iam cercando a Davi e aos seus homens, para os prender.

And Saul goeth on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain, and David is hastened to go from the face of Saul, and Saul and his men are compassing David and his men, to catch them.

27 N isso veio um mensageiro a Saul, dizendo: Apressa-te, e vem, porque os filisteus acabam de invadir a terra.

And a messenger hath come in unto Saul, saying, `Haste, and come, for the Philistines have pushed against the land.'

28 P elo que Saul voltou de perseguir a Davi, e se foi ao encontro dos filisteus. Por esta razão aquele lugar se chamou Selá-Hamalecote.

And Saul turneth back from pursuing after David, and goeth to meet the Philistines, therefore they have called that place `The Rock of Divisions.'

29 D epois disto, Davi subiu e ficou nos lugares fortes de En-Gedi.

And David goeth up thence, and abideth in fortresses En-gedi.
