1 D ieron aviso a David, diciendo: He aquí que los filisteos combaten a Keila, y roban las eras.

And they declare to David, saying, `Lo, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are spoiling the threshing-floors.'

2 Y David consultó a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré a atacar a estos filisteos? Y Jehová respondió a David: Ve, ataca a los filisteos, y libra a Keila.

And David asketh at Jehovah, saying, `Do I go? -- and have I smitten among these Philistines?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go, and thou hast smitten among the Philistines, and saved Keilah.'

3 P ero los que estaban con David le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros aquí en Judá estamos con miedo; ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Keila contra el ejército de los filisteos?

And David's men say unto him, `Lo, we here in Judah are afraid; and how much more when we go to Keilah, unto the ranks of the Philistines?'

4 E ntonces David volvió a consultar a Jehová. Y Jehová le respondió y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Keila, pues yo entregaré en tus manos a los filisteos.

And David addeth again to ask at Jehovah, and Jehovah answereth him, and saith, `Rise, go down to Keilah, for I am giving the Philistines into thy hand.'

5 F ue, pues, David con sus hombres a Keila, y peleó contra los filisteos, se llevó sus ganados, y les causó una gran derrota; y libró David a los de Keila.

And David goeth, and his men, to Keilah, and fighteth with the Philistines, and leadeth away their cattle, and smiteth among them -- a great smiting, and David saveth the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 Y aconteció que cuando Abiatar hijo de Ahimelec huyó siguiendo a David a Keila, descendió con el efod en su mano.

And it cometh to pass, in the fleeing of Abiathar son of Ahimelech unto David, to Keilah, an ephod came down in his hand.

7 Y fue dado aviso a Saúl que David había venido a Keila. Entonces dijo Saúl: Dios lo ha entregado en mi mano, pues se ha encerrado entrando en ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.

And it is declared to Saul that David hath come in to Keilah, and Saul saith, `God hath made him known for my hand, for he hath been shut in, to enter into a city of doors and bar.'

8 Y convocó Saúl a todo el pueblo a la batalla para descender a Keila, y poner sitio a David y a sus hombres.

And Saul summoneth the whole of the people to battle, to go down to Keilah, to lay siege unto David and unto his men.

9 M as entendiendo David que Saúl ideaba el mal contra él, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod.

And David knoweth that against him Saul is devising the evil, and saith unto Abiathar the priest, `Bring nigh the ephod.'

10 Y dijo David: Jehová Dios de Israel, tu siervo tiene entendido que Saúl trata de venir contra Keila, a destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

And David saith, `Jehovah, God of Israel, Thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul is seeking to come in unto Keilah, to destroy the city on mine account.

11 ¿ Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saúl, como ha oído tu siervo? Jehová Dios de Israel, te ruego que lo declares a tu siervo. Y Jehová dijo: Sí, descenderá.

Do the possessors of Keilah shut me up into his hand? doth Saul come down as Thy servant hath heard? Jehovah, God of Israel, declare, I pray Thee, to Thy servant.' And Jehovah saith, `He doth come down.'

12 D ijo luego David: ¿Me entregarán los vecinos de Keila a mí y a mis hombres en manos de Saúl? Y Jehová respondió: Os entregarán.

And David saith, `Do the possessors of Keilah shut me up, and my men, into the hand of Saul?' And Jehovah saith, `They shut up.'

13 D avid entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y salieron de Keila, y anduvieron de un lugar a otro. Y vino a Saúl la nueva de que David se había escapado de Keila, y desistió de salir.

And David riseth -- and his men -- about six hundred men, and they go out from Keilah, and go up and down where they go up and down; and to Saul it hath been declared that David hath escaped from Keilah, and he ceaseth to go out.

14 Y David se quedó en el desierto en lugares fuertes, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif; y lo buscaba Saúl todos los días, pero Dios no lo entregó en sus manos.

And David abideth in the wilderness, in fortresses, and abideth in the hill-country, in the wilderness of Ziph; and Saul seeketh him all the days, and God hath not given him into his hand.

15 V iendo, pues, David que Saúl había salido en busca de su vida, se estuvo en Hores, en el desierto de Zif.

And David seeth that Saul hath come out to seek his life, and David in the wilderness of Ziph, in a forest.

16 E ntonces se levantó Jonatán hijo de Saúl y vino a David a Hores, y fortaleció su mano en Dios.

And Jonathan son of Saul riseth, and goeth unto David to the forest, and strengtheneth his hand in God,

17 Y le dijo: No temas, pues no te hallará la mano de Saúl mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti; y aun Saúl mi padre así lo sabe.

and saith unto him, `Fear not, for the hand of Saul my father doth not find thee, and thou dost reign over Israel, and I am to thee for second, and also so knoweth Saul my father.'

18 Y ambos hicieron pacto delante de Jehová; y David se quedó en Hores, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa.

And they make a covenant both of them before Jehovah; and David abideth in the forest, and Jonathan hath gone to his house.

19 D espués subieron los de Zif para decirle a Saúl en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas de Hores, en el collado de Haquila, que está al sur del desierto?

And the Ziphites go up unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, `Is not David hiding himself with us in fortresses, in the forest, in the height of Hachilah, which on the south of the desolate place?

20 P or tanto, rey, desciende pronto ahora, conforme a tu deseo, y nosotros lo entregaremos en la mano del rey.

And, now, by all the desire of thy soul, O king, to come down, come down, and ours to shut him up into the hand of the king.'

21 Y Saúl dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros de Jehová, que habéis tenido compasión de mí.

And Saul saith, `Blessed ye of Jehovah, for ye have pity on me;

22 I d, pues, ahora, aseguraos más, conoced y ved el lugar de su escondite, y quién lo haya visto allí; porque se me ha dicho que él es astuto en gran manera.

go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his foot is; who hath seen him there? for hath said unto me, He is very subtile.

23 O bservad, pues, e informaos de todos los escondrijos donde se oculta, y volved a mí con información segura, y yo iré con vosotros; y si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré entre todos los millares de Judá.

And see and know of all the hiding-places where he hideth himself, and ye have turned back unto me prepared, and I have gone with you, and it hath been, if he is in the land, that I have searched him out through all the thousands of Judah.'

24 Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saúl. Pero David y su gente estaban en el desierto de Maón, en el Arabá al sur del desierto.

And they rise and go to Ziph before Saul, and David and his men in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain, at the south of the desolate place.

25 Y se fue Saúl con su gente a buscarlo; pero fue dado aviso a David, y descendió a la peña, y se quedó en el desierto de Maón. Cuando Saúl oyó esto, siguió a David al desierto de Maón.

And Saul and his men go to seek, and they declare to David, and he goeth down the rock, and abideth in the wilderness of Maon; and Saul heareth, and pursueth after David the wilderness of Maon.

26 Y Saúl iba por un lado del monte, y David con sus hombres por el otro lado del monte, y se daba prisa David para escapar de Saúl; mas Saúl y sus hombres habían encerrado a David y a su gente para capturarlos.

And Saul goeth on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain, and David is hastened to go from the face of Saul, and Saul and his men are compassing David and his men, to catch them.

27 E ntonces vino un mensajero a Saúl, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los filisteos han hecho una irrupción en el país.

And a messenger hath come in unto Saul, saying, `Haste, and come, for the Philistines have pushed against the land.'

28 V olvió, por tanto, Saúl de perseguir a David, y partió contra los filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron a aquel lugar por nombre Sela-hama-lecot.

And Saul turneth back from pursuing after David, and goeth to meet the Philistines, therefore they have called that place `The Rock of Divisions.'

29 E ntonces David subió de allí y habitó en los lugares fuertes de En-gadi.

And David goeth up thence, and abideth in fortresses En-gedi.
