1 V ino José y lo hizo saber a Faraón, y dijo: Mi padre y mis hermanos, y sus ovejas y sus vacas, con todo lo que tienen, han venido de la tierra de Canaán, y he aquí están en la tierra de Gosén.

And Joseph cometh, and declareth to Pharaoh, and saith, `My father, and my brethren, and their flock, and their herd, and all they have, have come from the land of Canaan, and lo, they in the land of Goshen.'

2 Y de los postreros de sus hermanos tomó cinco varones, y los presentó delante de Faraón.

And out of his brethren he hath taken five men, and setteth them before Pharaoh;

3 Y Faraón dijo a sus hermanos: ¿Cuál es vuestro oficio? Y ellos respondieron a Faraón: Pastores de ovejas son tus siervos, así nosotros como nuestros padres.

and Pharaoh saith unto his brethren, `What your works?' and they say unto Pharaoh, `Thy servants feeders of a flock, both we and our fathers;'

4 D ijeron además a Faraón: Para morar en esta tierra hemos venido; porque no hay pasto para las ovejas de tus siervos, pues el hambre es grave en la tierra de Canaán; por tanto, te rogamos ahora que permitas que habiten tus siervos en la tierra de Gosén.

and they say unto Pharaoh, `To sojourn in the land we have come, for there is no pasture for the flock which thy servants have, for grievous the famine in the land of Canaan; and now, let thy servants, we pray thee, dwell in the land of Goshen.'

5 E ntonces Faraón habló a José, diciendo: Tu padre y tus hermanos han venido a ti.

And Pharaoh speaketh unto Joseph, saying, `Thy father and thy brethren have come unto thee:

6 L a tierra de Egipto delante de ti está; en lo mejor de la tierra haz habitar a tu padre y a tus hermanos; habiten en la tierra de Gosén; y si entiendes que hay entre ellos hombres capaces, ponlos por mayorales del ganado mío.

the land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land cause thy father and thy brethren to dwell -- they dwell in the land of Goshen, and if thou hast known, and there are among them men of ability, then thou hast set them heads over the cattle I have.'

7 T ambién José introdujo a Jacob su padre, y lo presentó delante de Faraón; y Jacob bendijo a Faraón.

And Joseph bringeth in Jacob his father, and causeth him to stand before Pharaoh; and Jacob blesseth Pharaoh.

8 Y dijo Faraón a Jacob: ¿Cuántos son los días de los años de tu vida?

And Pharaoh saith unto Jacob, `How many the days of the years of thy life?'

9 Y Jacob respondió a Faraón: Los días de los años de mi peregrinación son ciento treinta años; pocos y malos han sido los días de los años de mi vida, y no han llegado a los días de los años de la vida de mis padres en los días de su peregrinación.

And Jacob saith unto Pharaoh, `The days of the years of my sojournings an hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not reached the days of the years of the life of my fathers, in the days of their sojournings.'

10 Y Jacob bendijo a Faraón, y salió de la presencia de Faraón.

And Jacob blesseth Pharaoh, and goeth out from before Pharaoh.

11 A sí José hizo habitar a su padre y a sus hermanos, y les dio posesión en la tierra de Egipto, en lo mejor de la tierra, en la tierra de Ramesés, como mandó Faraón.

And Joseph settleth his father and his brethren, and giveth to them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh commanded;

12 Y alimentaba José a su padre y a sus hermanos, y a toda la casa de su padre, con pan, según el número de los hijos.

and Joseph nourisheth his father, and his brethren, and all the house of his father bread, according to the mouth of the infants.

13 N o había pan en toda la tierra, y el hambre era muy grave, por lo que desfalleció de hambre la tierra de Egipto y la tierra de Canaán.

And there is no bread in all the land, for the famine very grievous, and the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan are feeble because of the famine;

14 Y recogió José todo el dinero que había en la tierra de Egipto y en la tierra de Canaán, por los alimentos que de él compraban; y metió José el dinero en casa de Faraón.

and Joseph gathereth all the silver that is found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn that they are buying, and Joseph bringeth the silver into the house of Pharaoh.

15 A cabado el dinero de la tierra de Egipto y de la tierra de Canaán, vino todo Egipto a José, diciendo: Danos pan; ¿por qué moriremos delante de ti, por haberse acabado el dinero?

And the silver is consumed out of the land of Egypt, and out of the land of Canaan, and all the Egyptians come in unto Joseph, saying, `Give to us bread -- why do we die before thee, though the money hath ceased?'

16 Y José dijo: Dad vuestros ganados y yo os daré por vuestros ganados, si se ha acabado el dinero.

and Joseph saith, `Give your cattle; and I give to you for your cattle, if the money hath ceased.'

17 Y ellos trajeron sus ganados a José, y José les dio alimentos por caballos, y por el ganado de las ovejas, y por el ganado de las vacas, y por asnos; y les sustentó de pan por todos sus ganados aquel año.

And they bring in their cattle unto Joseph, and Joseph giveth to them bread, for the horses, and for the cattle of the flock, and for the cattle of the herd, and for the asses; and he tendeth them with bread, for all their cattle, during that year.

18 A cabado aquel año, vinieron a él el segundo año, y le dijeron: No encubrimos a nuestro señor que el dinero ciertamente se ha acabado; también el ganado es ya de nuestro señor; nada ha quedado delante de nuestro señor sino nuestros cuerpos y nuestra tierra.

And that year is finished, and they come in unto him on the second year, and say to him, `We do not hide from my lord, that since the money hath been finished, and possession of the cattle unto my lord, there hath not been left before my lord save our bodies, and our ground;

19 ¿ Por qué moriremos delante de tus ojos, así nosotros como nuestra tierra? Cómpranos a nosotros y a nuestra tierra por pan, y seremos nosotros y nuestra tierra siervos de Faraón; y danos semilla para que vivamos y no muramos, y no sea asolada la tierra.

why do we die before thine eyes, both we and our ground? buy us and our ground for bread, and we and our ground are servants to Pharaoh; and give seed, and we live, and die not, and the ground is not desolate.'

20 E ntonces compró José toda la tierra de Egipto para Faraón; pues los egipcios vendieron cada uno sus tierras, porque se agravó el hambre sobre ellos; y la tierra vino a ser de Faraón.

And Joseph buyeth all the ground of Egypt for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians have sold each his field, for the famine hath been severe upon them, and the land becometh Pharaoh's;

21 Y al pueblo lo hizo pasar a las ciudades, desde un extremo al otro del territorio de Egipto.

as to the people he hath removed them to cities from the end of the border of Egypt even unto its end.

22 S olamente la tierra de los sacerdotes no compró, por cuanto los sacerdotes tenían ración de Faraón, y ellos comían la ración que Faraón les daba; por eso no vendieron su tierra.

Only the ground of the priests he hath not bought, for the priests have a portion from Pharaoh, and they have eaten their portion which Pharaoh hath given to them, therefore they have not sold their ground.

23 Y José dijo al pueblo: He aquí os he comprado hoy, a vosotros y a vuestra tierra, para Faraón; ved aquí semilla, y sembraréis la tierra.

And Joseph saith unto the people, `Lo, I have bought you to-day and your ground for Pharaoh; lo, seed for you, and ye have sown the ground,

24 D e los frutos daréis el quinto a Faraón, y las cuatro partes serán vuestras para sembrar las tierras, y para vuestro mantenimiento, y de los que están en vuestras casas, y para que coman vuestros niños.

and it hath come to pass in the increases, that ye have given a fifth to Pharaoh, and four of the parts are for yourselves, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for those who in your houses, and for food for your infants.'

25 Y ellos respondieron: La vida nos has dado; hallemos gracia en ojos de nuestro señor, y seamos siervos de Faraón.

And they say, `Thou hast revived us; we find grace in the eyes of my lord, and have been servants to Pharaoh;'

26 E ntonces José lo puso por ley hasta hoy sobre la tierra de Egipto, señalando para Faraón el quinto, excepto sólo la tierra de los sacerdotes, que no fue de Faraón.

and Joseph setteth it for a statute unto this day, concerning the ground of Egypt, Pharaoh hath a fifth; only the ground of the priests alone hath not become Pharaoh's.

27 A sí habitó Israel en la tierra de Egipto, en la tierra de Gosén; y tomaron posesión de ella, y se aumentaron, y se multiplicaron en gran manera.

And Israel dwelleth in the land of Egypt, in the land of Goshen, and they have possession in it, and are fruitful, and multiply exceedingly;

28 Y vivió Jacob en la tierra de Egipto diecisiete años; y fueron los días de Jacob, los años de su vida, ciento cuarenta y siete años.

and Jacob liveth in the land of Egypt seventeen years, and the days of Jacob, the years of his life, are an hundred and forty and seven years.

29 Y llegaron los días de Israel para morir, y llamó a José su hijo, y le dijo: Si he hallado ahora gracia en tus ojos, te ruego que pongas tu mano debajo de mi muslo, y harás conmigo misericordia y verdad. Te ruego que no me entierres en Egipto.

And the days of Israel are near to die, and he calleth for his son, for Joseph, and saith to him, `If, I pray thee, I have found grace in thine eyes, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and thou hast done with me kindness and truth; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt,

30 M as cuando duerma con mis padres, me llevarás de Egipto y me sepultarás en el sepulcro de ellos. Y José respondió: Haré como tú dices.

and I have lain with my fathers, and thou hast borne me out of Egypt, and buried me in their burying-place.' And he saith, `I -- I do according to thy word;'

31 E Israel dijo: Júramelo. Y José le juró. Entonces Israel se inclinó sobre la cabecera de la cama.

and he saith, `Swear to me;' and he sweareth to him, and Israel boweth himself on the head of the bed.
