1 T emamos, pues, no sea que permaneciendo aún la promesa de entrar en su reposo, alguno de vosotros parezca no haberlo alcanzado.

We may fear, then, lest a promise being left of entering into His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short,

2 P orque también a nosotros se nos ha anunciado la buena nueva como a ellos; pero no les aprovechó el oír la palabra, por no ir acompañada de fe en los que la oyeron.

for we also are having good news proclaimed, even as they, but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard,

3 P ero los que hemos creído entramos en el reposo, de la manera que dijo: Por tanto, juré en mi ira, No entrarán en mi reposo; m aunque las obras suyas estaban acabadas desde la fundación del mundo.

for we do enter into the rest -- we who did believe, as He said, `So I sware in My anger, If they shall enter into My rest --;' and yet the works were done from the foundation of the world,

4 P orque en cierto lugar dijo así del séptimo día: Y reposó Dios de todas sus obras en el séptimo día.

for He spake in a certain place concerning the seventh thus: `And God did rest in the seventh day from all His works;'

5 Y otra vez aquí: No entrarán en mi reposo.

and in this again, `If they shall enter into My rest --;'

6 P or lo tanto, puesto que falta que algunos entren en él, y aquellos a quienes primero se les anunció la buena nueva no entraron por causa de desobediencia,

since then, it remaineth for certain to enter into it, and those who did first hear good news entered not in because of unbelief --

7 o tra vez determina un día: Hoy, diciendo después de tanto tiempo, por medio de David, como se dijo: Si oyereis hoy su voz, No endurezcáis vuestros corazones. m

again He doth limit a certain day, `To-day,' (in David saying, after so long a time,) as it hath been said, `To-day, if His voice ye may hear, ye may not harden your hearts,'

8 P orque si Josué les hubiera dado el reposo, no hablaría después de otro día.

for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;

9 P or tanto, queda un reposo para el pueblo de Dios.

there doth remain, then, a sabbatic rest to the people of God,

10 P orque el que ha entrado en su reposo, también ha reposado de sus obras, como Dios de las suyas.

for he who did enter into his rest, he also rested from his works, as God from His own.

11 P rocuremos, pues, entrar en aquel reposo, para que ninguno caiga en semejante ejemplo de desobediencia.

May we be diligent, then, to enter into that rest, that no one in the same example of the unbelief may fall,

12 P orque la palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que toda espada de dos filos; y penetra hasta partir el alma y el espíritu, las coyunturas y los tuétanos, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.

for the reckoning of God is living, and working, and sharp above every two-edged sword, and piercing unto the dividing asunder both of soul and spirit, of joints also and marrow, and a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart;

13 Y no hay cosa creada que no sea manifiesta en su presencia; antes bien todas las cosas están desnudas y abiertas a los ojos de aquel a quien tenemos que dar cuenta. Jesús el gran sumo sacerdote

and there is not a created thing not manifest before Him, but all things naked and open to His eyes -- with whom is our reckoning.

14 P or tanto, teniendo un gran sumo sacerdote que traspasó los cielos, Jesús el Hijo de Dios, retengamos nuestra profesión.

Having, then, a great chief priest passed through the heavens -- Jesus the Son of God -- may we hold fast the profession,

15 P orque no tenemos un sumo sacerdote que no pueda compadecerse de nuestras debilidades, sino uno que fue tentado en todo según nuestra semejanza, pero sin pecado.

for we have not a chief priest unable to sympathise with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner -- apart from sin;

16 A cerquémonos, pues, confiadamente al trono de la gracia, para alcanzar misericordia y hallar gracia para el oportuno socorro.

we may come near, then, with freedom, to the throne of the grace, that we may receive kindness, and find grace -- for seasonable help.
