1 P artió luego de Elim toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, y vino al desierto de Sin, que está entre Elim y Sinaí, a los quince días del segundo mes después que salieron de la tierra de Egipto.

And they journey from Elim, and all the company of the sons of Israel come in unto the wilderness of Sin, which between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.

2 Y toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón en el desierto;

And all the company of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;

3 y les decían los hijos de Israel: Ojalá hubiéramos muerto por mano de Jehová en la tierra de Egipto, cuando nos sentábamos a las ollas de carne, cuando comíamos pan hasta saciarnos; pues nos habéis sacado a este desierto para matar de hambre a toda esta multitud.

and the sons of Israel say unto them, `Oh that we had died by the hand of Jehovah in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety -- for ye have brought us out unto this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.'

4 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: He aquí yo os haré llover pan del cielo; y el pueblo saldrá, y recogerá diariamente la porción de un día, para que yo lo pruebe si anda en mi ley, o no.

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Lo, I am raining to you bread from the heavens -- and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day -- so that I try them whether they walk in My law, or not;

5 M as en el sexto día prepararán para guardar el doble de lo que suelen recoger cada día.

and it hath been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it hath been double above that which they gather day day.'

6 E ntonces dijeron Moisés y Aarón a todos los hijos de Israel: En la tarde sabréis que Jehová os ha sacado de la tierra de Egipto,

And Moses saith -- Aaron also -- unto all the sons of Israel, `Evening -- and ye have known that Jehovah hath brought you out from the land of Egypt;

7 y a la mañana veréis la gloria de Jehová; porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones contra Jehová; porque nosotros, ¿qué somos, para que vosotros murmuréis contra nosotros?

and morning -- and ye have seen the honour of Jehovah, in His hearing your murmurings against Jehovah, and what we, that ye murmur against us?'

8 D ijo también Moisés: Jehová os dará en la tarde carne para comer, y en la mañana pan hasta saciaros; porque Jehová ha oído vuestras murmuraciones con que habéis murmurado contra él; porque nosotros, ¿qué somos? Vuestras murmuraciones no son contra nosotros, sino contra Jehová.

And Moses saith, `In Jehovah's giving to you in the evening flesh to eat, and bread in the morning to satiety -- in Jehovah's hearing your murmurings, which ye are murmuring against Him, and what we? your murmurings not against us, but against Jehovah.'

9 Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Di a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel: Acercaos a la presencia de Jehová, porque él ha oído vuestras murmuraciones.

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Say unto all the company of the sons of Israel, Come ye near before Jehovah, for He hath heard your murmurings;'

10 Y hablando Aarón a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel, miraron hacia el desierto, y he aquí la gloria de Jehová apareció en la nube.

and it cometh to pass, when Aaron is speaking unto all the company of the sons of Israel, that they turn towards the wilderness, and lo, the honour of Jehovah is seen in the cloud.

11 Y Jehová habló a Moisés, diciendo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

12 Y o he oído las murmuraciones de los hijos de Israel; háblales, diciendo: Al caer la tarde comeréis carne, y por la mañana os saciaréis de pan, y sabréis que yo soy Jehová vuestro Dios.

`I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak unto them, saying, Between the evenings ye eat flesh, and in the morning ye are satisfied bread, and ye have known that I Jehovah your God.'

13 Y venida la tarde, subieron codornices que cubrieron el campamento; y por la mañana descendió rocío en derredor del campamento.

And it cometh to pass in the evening, that the quail cometh up, and covereth the camp, and in the morning there hath been the lying of dew round about the camp,

14 Y cuando el rocío cesó de descender, he aquí sobre la faz del desierto una cosa menuda, redonda, menuda como una escarcha sobre la tierra.

and the lying of the dew goeth up, and lo, on the face of the wilderness a thin, bare thing, thin as hoar-frost on the earth.

15 Y viéndolo los hijos de Israel, se dijeron unos a otros: ¿Qué es esto? porque no sabían qué era. Entonces Moisés les dijo: Es el pan que Jehová os da para comer.

And the sons of Israel see, and say one unto another, `What it?' for they have not known what it; and Moses saith unto them, `It the bread which Jehovah hath given to you for food.

16 E sto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Recoged de él cada uno según lo que pudiere comer; un gomer por cabeza, conforme al número de vuestras personas, tomaréis cada uno para los que están en su tienda.

`This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Gather of it each according to his eating, an omer for a poll; and the number of your persons, take ye each for those in his tent.'

17 Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así; y recogieron unos más, otros menos;

And the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is much, and he who is little;

18 y lo medían por gomer, y no sobró al que había recogido mucho, ni faltó al que había recogido poco; cada uno recogió conforme a lo que había de comer.

and they measure with an omer, and he who is much hath nothing over, and he who is little hath no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.

19 Y les dijo Moisés: Ninguno deje nada de ello para mañana.

And Moses saith unto them, `Let no man leave of it till morning;'

20 M as ellos no obedecieron a Moisés, sino que algunos dejaron de ello para otro día, y crió gusanos, y hedió; y se enojó contra ellos Moisés.

and they have not hearkened unto Moses, and some of them do leave of it till morning, and it bringeth up worms and stinketh; and Moses is wroth with them.

21 Y lo recogían cada mañana, cada uno según lo que había de comer; y luego que el sol calentaba, se derretía.

And they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun hath been warm, then it hath melted.

22 E n el sexto día recogieron doble porción de comida, dos gomeres para cada uno; y todos los príncipes de la congregación vinieron y se lo hicieron saber a Moisés.

And it cometh to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the company come in, and declare to Moses.

23 Y él les dijo: Esto es lo que ha dicho Jehová: Mañana es el santo día de reposo, el reposo consagrado a Jehová; lo que habéis de cocer, cocedlo hoy, y lo que habéis de cocinar, cocinadlo; y todo lo que os sobrare, guardadlo para mañana.

And he saith unto them, `It that which Jehovah hath spoken; a rest -- a holy sabbath to Jehovah -- to-morrow; that which ye bake, bake; and that which ye boil, boil; and all that is over, let rest for yourselves in charge till the morning.'

24 Y ellos lo guardaron hasta la mañana, según lo que Moisés había mandado, y no se agusanó, ni hedió.

And they let it rest until the morning, as Moses hath commanded, and it hath not stank, and a worm hath not been in it.

25 Y dijo Moisés: Comedlo hoy, porque hoy es día de reposo para Jehová; hoy no hallaréis en el campo.

And Moses saith, `Eat it to-day, for to-day a sabbath to Jehovah; to-day ye find it not in the field:

26 S eis días lo recogeréis; mas el séptimo día es día de reposo; en él no se hallará.

six days ye do gather it, and in the seventh day -- the sabbath -- in it there is none.'

27 Y aconteció que algunos del pueblo salieron en el séptimo día a recoger, y no hallaron.

And it cometh to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.

28 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: ¿Hasta cuándo no querréis guardar mis mandamientos y mis leyes?

And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `How long have ye refused to keep My commands, and My laws?

29 M irad que Jehová os dio el día de reposo, y por eso en el sexto día os da pan para dos días. Estése, pues, cada uno en su lugar, y nadie salga de él en el séptimo día.

see, because Jehovah hath given to you the sabbath, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; abide ye each his place, no one doth go out from his place on the seventh day.'

30 A sí el pueblo reposó el séptimo día.

And the people rest on the seventh day,

31 Y la casa de Israel lo llamó Maná; y era como semilla de culantro, blanco, y su sabor como de hojuelas con miel.

and the house of Israel call its name Manna, and it as coriander seed, white; and its taste as a cake with honey.

32 Y dijo Moisés: Esto es lo que Jehová ha mandado: Llenad un gomer de él, y guardadlo para vuestros descendientes, a fin de que vean el pan que yo os di a comer en el desierto, cuando yo os saqué de la tierra de Egipto.

And Moses saith, `This the thing which Jehovah hath commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.'

33 Y dijo Moisés a Aarón: Toma una vasija y pon en ella un gomer de maná, y ponlo delante de Jehová, para que sea guardado para vuestros descendientes.

And Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take one pot, and put there the fulness of the omer of manna, and let it rest before Jehovah, for a charge for your generations;'

34 Y Aarón lo puso delante del Testimonio para guardarlo, como Jehová lo mandó a Moisés.

as Jehovah hath given commandment unto Moses, so doth Aaron let it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.

35 A sí comieron los hijos de Israel maná cuarenta años, hasta que llegaron a tierra habitada; maná comieron hasta que llegaron a los límites de la tierra de Canaán.

And the sons of Israel have eaten the manna forty years, until their coming in unto the land to be inhabited; the manna they have eaten till their coming in unto the extremity of the land of Canaan.

36 Y un gomer es la décima parte de un efa.

and the omer is a tenth of the ephah.
