1 D espués de la muerte de Acab, se rebeló Moab contra Israel.

And Moab transgresseth against Israel after the death of Ahab,

2 Y Ocozías cayó por la ventana de una sala de la casa que tenía en Samaria; y estando enfermo, envió mensajeros, y les dijo: Id y consultad a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón, si he de sanar de esta mi enfermedad.

and Ahaziah falleth through the lattice in his upper chamber that in Samaria, and is sick, and sendeth messengers, and saith unto them, `Go ye, inquire of Baal-Zebub god of Ekron if I recover from this sickness.'

3 E ntonces el ángel de Jehová habló a Elías tisbita, diciendo: Levántate, y sube a encontrarte con los mensajeros del rey de Samaria, y diles: ¿No hay Dios en Israel, que vais a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón?

And a messenger of Jehovah hath spoken unto Elijah the Tishbite, `Rise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and speak unto them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel -- ye are going to inquire of Baal Zebub god of Ekron?

4 P or tanto, así ha dicho Jehová: Del lecho en que estás no te levantarás, sino que ciertamente morirás. Y Elías se fue.

and therefore, thus said Jehovah, The bed whither thou hast gone up, thou dost not come down from it, for thou dost certainly die;' and Elijah goeth on.

5 C uando los mensajeros se volvieron al rey, él les dijo: ¿Por qué os habéis vuelto?

And the messengers turn back unto him, and he saith unto them, `What this -- ye have turned back!'

6 E llos le respondieron: Encontramos a un varón que nos dijo: Id, y volveos al rey que os envió, y decidle: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿No hay Dios en Israel, que tú envías a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón? Por tanto, del lecho en que estás no te levantarás; de cierto morirás.

And they say unto him, `A man hath come up to meet us, and saith unto us, Go, turn back unto the king who sent you, and ye have said unto him, Thus said Jehovah, Is it because there is not a God in Israel -- thou art sending to inquire of Baal-Zebub god of Ekron? therefore, the bed whither thou hast gone up, thou dost not come down from it, for thou dost certainly die.'

7 E ntonces él les dijo: ¿Cómo era aquel varón que encontrasteis, y os dijo tales palabras?

And he saith unto them, `What the fashion of the man who hath come up to meet you, and speaketh unto you these words?'

8 Y ellos le respondieron: Un varón que tenía vestido de pelo, y ceñía sus lomos con un cinturón de cuero. Entonces él dijo: Es Elías tisbita.

And they say unto him, `A man -- hairy, and a girdle of skin girt about his loins;' and he saith, `He Elijah the Tishbite.'

9 L uego envió a él un capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta, el cual subió a donde él estaba; y he aquí que él estaba sentado en la cumbre del monte. Y el capitán le dijo: Varón de Dios, el rey ha dicho que desciendas.

And he sendeth unto him a head of fifty and his fifty, and he goeth up unto him (and lo, he is sitting on the top of the hill), and he speaketh unto him, `O man of God, the king hath spoken, Come down.'

10 Y Elías respondió y dijo al capitán de cincuenta: Si yo soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del cielo, y consúmate con tus cincuenta. Y descendió fuego del cielo, que lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta.

And Elijah answereth and speaketh unto the head of the fifty, `And if I a man of God, fire doth come down from the heavens, and consume thee and thy fifty;' and fire cometh down from the heavens, and consumeth him and his fifty.

11 V olvió el rey a enviar a él otro capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; y le habló y dijo: Varón de Dios, el rey ha dicho así: Desciende pronto.

And he turneth and sendeth unto him another head of fifty and his fifty, and he answereth and speaketh unto him, `O man of God, thus said the king, Haste, come down.'

12 Y le respondió Elías y dijo: Si yo soy varón de Dios, descienda fuego del cielo, y consúmate con tus cincuenta. Y descendió fuego del cielo, y lo consumió a él y a sus cincuenta.

And Elijah answereth and speaketh unto them, `If I a man of God, fire doth come down from the heavens, and consume thee and thy fifty;' and fire of God cometh down from the heavens, and consumeth him and his fifty.

13 V olvió a enviar al tercer capitán de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; y subiendo aquel tercer capitán de cincuenta, se puso de rodillas delante de Elías y le rogó, diciendo: Varón de Dios, te ruego que sea de valor delante de tus ojos mi vida, y la vida de estos tus cincuenta siervos.

And he turneth and sendeth a third head of fifty and his fifty, and the third head of fifty goeth up, and cometh in, and boweth on his knees over-against Elijah, and maketh supplication unto him, and speaketh unto him, `O man of God, let be precious, I pray thee, my soul and the soul of thy servants -- these fifty -- in thine eyes.

14 H e aquí ha descendido fuego del cielo, y ha consumido a los dos primeros capitanes de cincuenta con sus cincuenta; sea estimada ahora mi vida delante de tus ojos.

Lo, come down hath fire from the heavens, and consumeth the two heads of the former fifties and their fifties; and, now, let my soul be precious in thine eyes.'

15 E ntonces el ángel de Jehová dijo a Elías: Desciende con él; no tengas miedo de él. Y él se levantó, y descendió con él al rey.

And a messenger of Jehovah speaketh unto Elijah, `Go down with him, be not afraid of him;' and he riseth and goeth down with him unto the king,

16 Y le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Por cuanto enviaste mensajeros a consultar a Baal-zebub dios de Ecrón, ¿no hay Dios en Israel para consultar en su palabra? No te levantarás, por tanto, del lecho en que estás, sino que de cierto morirás.

and speaketh unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, Because that thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub god of Ekron -- is it because there is not a God in Israel to inquire of His word? therefore, the bed whither thou hast gone up -- thou dost not come down from it, for thou dost certainly die.'

17 Y murió conforme a la palabra de Jehová, que había hablado Elías. Reinó en su lugar Joram, en el segundo año de Joram hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá; porque Ocozías no tenía hijo.

And he dieth, according to the word of Jehovah that Elijah spake, and Jehoram reigneth in his stead, in the second year of Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, for he had no son.

18 L os demás hechos de Ocozías, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

And the rest of the matters of Ahaziah that he did, are they not written on the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?
