1 E l ángel de Jehová subió de Gilgal a Boquim, y dijo: Yo os saqué de Egipto, y os introduje en la tierra de la cual había jurado a vuestros padres, diciendo: No invalidaré jamás mi pacto con vosotros,

And a messenger of Jehovah goeth up from Gilgal unto Bochim,

2 c on tal que vosotros no hagáis pacto con los moradores de esta tierra, cuyos altares habéis de derribar; mas vosotros no habéis atendido a mi voz. ¿Por qué habéis hecho esto?

and saith, `I cause you to come up out of Egypt, and bring you in unto the land which I have sworn to your fathers, and say, I do not break My covenant with you to the age; and ye -- ye make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land -- their altars ye break down; and ye have not hearkened to My voice -- what this ye have done?

3 P or tanto, yo también digo: No los echaré de delante de vosotros, sino que serán azotes para vuestros costados, y sus dioses os serán tropezadero.

And I also have said, I do not cast them out from your presence, and they have been to you for adversaries, and their gods are to you for a snare.'

4 C uando el ángel de Jehová habló estas palabras a todos los hijos de Israel, el pueblo alzó su voz y lloró.

And it cometh to pass, when the messenger of Jehovah speaketh these words unto all the sons of Israel, that the people lift up their voice and weep,

5 Y llamaron el nombre de aquel lugar Boquim, y ofrecieron allí sacrificios a Jehová. Muerte de Josué (Jos. 24. 29-31)

and they call the name of that place Bochim, and sacrifice there to Jehovah.

6 P orque ya Josué había despedido al pueblo, y los hijos de Israel se habían ido cada uno a su heredad para poseerla.

And Joshua sendeth the people away, and the sons of Israel go, each to his inheritance, to possess the land;

7 Y el pueblo había servido a Jehová todo el tiempo de Josué, y todo el tiempo de los ancianos que sobrevivieron a Josué, los cuales habían visto todas las grandes obras de Jehová, que él había hecho por Israel.

and the people serve Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, who saw all the great work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.

8 P ero murió Josué hijo de Nun, siervo de Jehová, siendo de ciento diez años.

And Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,

9 Y lo sepultaron en su heredad en Timnat-sera, en el monte de Efraín, al norte del monte de Gaas.

and they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of mount Gaash;

10 Y toda aquella generación también fue reunida a sus padres. Y se levantó después de ellos otra generación que no conocía a Jehová, ni la obra que él había hecho por Israel. Apostasía de Israel, y la obra de los jueces

and also all that generation have been gathered unto their fathers, and another generation riseth after them who have not known Jehovah, and even the work which He hath done to Israel.

11 D espués los hijos de Israel hicieron lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y sirvieron a los baales.

And the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim,

12 D ejaron a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, que los había sacado de la tierra de Egipto, y se fueron tras otros dioses, los dioses de los pueblos que estaban en sus alrededores, a los cuales adoraron; y provocaron a ira a Jehová.

and forsake Jehovah, God of their fathers, who bringeth them out from the land of Egypt, and go after other gods (of the gods of the peoples who round about them), and bow themselves to them, and provoke Jehovah,

13 Y dejaron a Jehová, y adoraron a Baal y a Astarot.

yea, they forsake Jehovah, and do service to Baal and to Ashtaroth.

14 Y se encendió contra Israel el furor de Jehová, el cual los entregó en manos de robadores que los despojaron, y los vendió en mano de sus enemigos de alrededor; y no pudieron ya hacer frente a sus enemigos.

And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He giveth them into the hand of spoilers, and they spoil them, and He selleth them into the hand of their enemies round about, and they have not been able any more to stand before their enemies;

15 P or dondequiera que salían, la mano de Jehová estaba contra ellos para mal, como Jehová había dicho, y como Jehová se lo había jurado; y tuvieron gran aflicción.

in every where they have gone out, the hand of Jehovah hath been against them for evil, as Jehovah hath spoken, and as Jehovah hath sworn to them, and they are distressed -- greatly.

16 Y Jehová levantó jueces que los librasen de mano de los que les despojaban;

And Jehovah raiseth up judges, and they save them from the hand of their spoilers;

17 p ero tampoco oyeron a sus jueces, sino que fueron tras dioses ajenos, a los cuales adoraron; se apartaron pronto del camino en que anduvieron sus padres obedeciendo a los mandamientos de Jehová; ellos no hicieron así.

and also unto their judges they have not hearkened, but have gone a-whoring after other gods, and bow themselves to them; they have turned aside haste out of the way which their fathers walked to obey the commands of Jehovah -- they have not done so.

18 Y cuando Jehová les levantaba jueces, Jehová estaba con el juez, y los libraba de mano de los enemigos todo el tiempo de aquel juez; porque Jehová era movido a misericordia por sus gemidos a causa de los que los oprimían y afligían.

And when Jehovah raised up to them judges -- then was Jehovah with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for it repenteth Jehovah, because of their groaning from the presence of their oppressors, and of those thrusting them away.

19 M as acontecía que al morir el juez, ellos volvían atrás, y se corrompían más que sus padres, siguiendo a dioses ajenos para servirles, e inclinándose delante de ellos; y no se apartaban de sus obras, ni de su obstinado camino.

And it hath come to pass, at the death of the judge -- they turn back and have done corruptly above their fathers, to go after other gods, to serve them, and to bow themselves to them; they have not fallen from their doings, and from their stiff way.

20 Y la ira de Jehová se encendió contra Israel, y dijo: Por cuanto este pueblo traspasa mi pacto que ordené a sus padres, y no obedece a mi voz,

And the anger of Jehovah doth burn against Israel, and He saith, `Because that this nation have transgressed My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened to My voice --

21 t ampoco yo volveré más a arrojar de delante de ellos a ninguna de las naciones que dejó Josué cuando murió;

I also continue not to dispossess any from before them of the nations which Joshua hath left when he dieth,

22 p ara probar con ellas a Israel, si procurarían o no seguir el camino de Jehová, andando en él, como lo siguieron sus padres.

in order to try Israel by them, whether they are keeping the way of Jehovah, to go in it, as their fathers kept or not.'

23 P or esto dejó Jehová a aquellas naciones, sin arrojarlas de una vez, y no las entregó en mano de Josué.

And Jehovah leaveth these nations, so as not to dispossess them hastily, and did not give them into the hand of Joshua.
