1 L os hijos de Israel volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová; y Jehová los entregó en mano de los filisteos por cuarenta años.

And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and Jehovah giveth them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

2 Y había un hombre de Zora, de la tribu de Dan, el cual se llamaba Manoa; y su mujer era estéril, y nunca había tenido hijos.

And there is a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danite, and his name Manoah, his wife barren, and hath not borne;

3 A esta mujer apareció el ángel de Jehová, y le dijo: He aquí que tú eres estéril, y nunca has tenido hijos; pero concebirás y darás a luz un hijo.

and a messenger of Jehovah appeareth unto the woman, and saith unto her, `Lo, I pray thee, thou barren, and hast not borne; when thou hast conceived, then thou hast borne a son.

4 A hora, pues, no bebas vino ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda.

And, now, take heed, I pray thee, and do not drink wine, and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing,

5 P ues he aquí que concebirás y darás a luz un hijo; y navaja no pasará sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será nazareo a Dios desde su nacimiento, y él comenzará a salvar a Israel de mano de los filisteos.

for, lo, thou art conceiving and bearing a son, and a razor doth not go up on his head, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb, and he doth begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.'

6 Y la mujer vino y se lo contó a su marido, diciendo: Un varón de Dios vino a mí, cuyo aspecto era como el aspecto de un ángel de Dios, temible en gran manera; y no le pregunté de dónde ni quién era, ni tampoco él me dijo su nombre.

And the woman cometh and speaketh to her husband, saying, `A man of God hath come unto me, and his appearance as the appearance of a messenger of God, very fearful, and I have not asked him whence he, and his name he hath not declared to me;

7 Y me dijo: He aquí que tú concebirás, y darás a luz un hijo; por tanto, ahora no bebas vino, ni sidra, ni comas cosa inmunda, porque este niño será nazareo a Dios desde su nacimiento hasta el día de su muerte.

and he saith to me, Lo, thou art pregnant, and bearing a son, and now do not drink wine and strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing, for a Nazarite to God is the youth from the womb till the day of his death.'

8 E ntonces oró Manoa a Jehová, y dijo: Ah, Señor mío, yo te ruego que aquel varón de Dios que enviaste, vuelva ahora a venir a nosotros, y nos enseñe lo que hayamos de hacer con el niño que ha de nacer.

And Manoah maketh entreaty unto Jehovah, and saith, `O, my Lord, the man of God whom Thou didst send, let him come in, I pray thee, again unto us, and direct us what we do to the youth who is born.'

9 Y Dios oyó la voz de Manoa; y el ángel de Dios volvió otra vez a la mujer, estando ella en el campo; mas su marido Manoa no estaba con ella.

And God hearkeneth to the voice of Manoah, and the messenger of God cometh again unto the woman, and she sitting in a field, and Manoah her husband is not with her,

10 Y la mujer corrió prontamente a avisarle a su marido, diciéndole: Mira que se me ha aparecido aquel varón que vino a mí el otro día.

and the woman hasteth, and runneth, and declareth to her husband, and saith unto him, `Lo, he hath appeared unto me -- the man who came on day unto me.'

11 Y se levantó Manoa, y siguió a su mujer; y vino al varón y le dijo: ¿Eres tú aquel varón que habló a la mujer? Y él dijo: Yo soy.

And Manoah riseth, and goeth after his wife, and cometh unto the man, and saith to him, `Art thou the man who spake unto the woman?' and he saith, `I.'

12 E ntonces Manoa dijo: Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cómo debe ser la manera de vivir del niño, y qué debemos hacer con él?

And Manoah saith, `Now let thy words come to pass; what is the custom of the youth -- and his work?'

13 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió a Manoa: La mujer se guardará de todas las cosas que yo le dije.

And the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `Of all that I said unto the woman let her take heed;

14 N o tomará nada que proceda de la vid; no beberá vino ni sidra, y no comerá cosa inmunda; guardará todo lo que le mandé.

of anything which cometh out from the wine-vine she doth not eat, and wine and strong drink she doth not drink, and any unclean thing she doth not eat; all that I have commanded her she doth observe.'

15 E ntonces Manoa dijo al ángel de Jehová: Te ruego nos permitas detenerte, y te prepararemos un cabrito.

And Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `Let us detain thee, we pray thee, and prepare before thee a kid of the goats.'

16 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió a Manoa: Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu pan; mas si quieres hacer holocausto, ofrécelo a Jehová. Y no sabía Manoa que aquél fuese ángel de Jehová.

And the messenger of Jehovah saith unto Manoah, `If thou detain me -- I do not eat of thy bread; and if thou prepare a burnt-offering -- to Jehovah thou dost offer it;' for Manoah hath not known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

17 E ntonces dijo Manoa al ángel de Jehová: ¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumpla tu palabra te honremos?

And Manoah saith unto the messenger of Jehovah, `What thy name? when thy words come to pass, then we have honoured thee.'

18 Y el ángel de Jehová respondió: ¿Por qué preguntas por mi nombre, que es admirable?

And the messenger of Jehovah saith to him, `Why this -- thou dost ask for My name? -- and it Wonderful.'

19 Y Manoa tomó un cabrito y una ofrenda, y los ofreció sobre una peña a Jehová; y el ángel hizo milagro ante los ojos de Manoa y de su mujer.

And Manoah taketh the kid of the goats, and the present, and offereth on the rock to Jehovah, and He is doing wonderfully, and Manoah and his wife are looking on,

20 P orque aconteció que cuando la llama subía del altar hacia el cielo, el ángel de Jehová subió en la llama del altar ante los ojos de Manoa y de su mujer, los cuales se postraron en tierra.

and it cometh to pass, in the going up of the flame from off the altar toward the heavens, that the messenger of Jehovah goeth up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife are looking on, and they fall on their faces to the earth,

21 Y el ángel de Jehová no volvió a aparecer a Manoa ni a su mujer. Entonces conoció Manoa que era el ángel de Jehová.

and the messenger of Jehovah hath not added again to appear unto Manoah, and unto his wife, then hath Manoah known that He a messenger of Jehovah.

22 Y dijo Manoa a su mujer: Ciertamente moriremos, porque a Dios hemos visto.

And Manoah saith unto his wife, `We certainly die, for we have seen God.'

23 Y su mujer le respondió: Si Jehová nos quisiera matar, no aceptaría de nuestras manos el holocausto y la ofrenda, ni nos hubiera mostrado todas estas cosas, ni ahora nos habría anunciado esto.

And his wife saith to him, `If Jehovah were desirous to put us to death, He had not received from our hands burnt-offering and present, nor shewed us all these things, nor as time caused us to hear like this.'

24 Y la mujer dio a luz un hijo, y le puso por nombre Sansón. Y el niño creció, y Jehová lo bendijo.

And the woman beareth a son, and calleth his name Samson, and the youth groweth, and Jehovah doth bless him,

25 Y el Espíritu de Jehová comenzó a manifestarse en él en los campamentos de Dan, entre Zora y Estaol.

and the Spirit of Jehovah beginneth to move him in the camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
