1 F ueron, pues, acabados los cielos y la tierra, y todo el ejército de ellos.

And the heavens and the earth are completed, and all their host;

2 Y acabó Dios en el día séptimo la obra que hizo; y reposó el día séptimo de toda la obra que hizo.

and God completeth by the seventh day His work which He hath made, and ceaseth by the seventh day from all His work which He hath made.

3 Y bendijo Dios al día séptimo, y lo santificó, porque en él reposó de toda la obra que había hecho en la creación. El hombre en el huerto del Edén

And God blesseth the seventh day, and sanctifieth it, for in it He hath ceased from all His work which God had prepared for making.

4 E stos son los orígenes de los cielos y de la tierra cuando fueron creados, el día que Jehová Dios hizo la tierra y los cielos,

These births of the heavens and of the earth in their being prepared, in the day of Jehovah God's making earth and heavens;

5 y toda planta del campo antes que fuese en la tierra, y toda hierba del campo antes que naciese; porque Jehová Dios aún no había hecho llover sobre la tierra, ni había hombre para que labrase la tierra,

and no shrub of the field is yet in the earth, and no herb of the field yet sprouteth, for Jehovah God hath not rained upon the earth, and a man there is not to serve the ground,

6 s ino que subía de la tierra un vapor, el cual regaba toda la faz de la tierra.

and a mist goeth up from the earth, and hath watered the whole face of the ground.

7 E ntonces Jehová Dios formó al hombre del polvo de la tierra, y sopló en su nariz aliento de vida, y fue el hombre un ser viviente.

And Jehovah God formeth the man -- dust from the ground, and breatheth into his nostrils breath of life, and the man becometh a living creature.

8 Y Jehová Dios plantó un huerto en Edén, al oriente; y puso allí al hombre que había formado.

And Jehovah God planteth a garden in Eden, at the east, and He setteth there the man whom He hath formed;

9 Y Jehová Dios hizo nacer de la tierra todo árbol delicioso a la vista, y bueno para comer; también el árbol de vida en medio del huerto, y el árbol de la ciencia del bien y del mal.

and Jehovah God causeth to sprout from the ground every tree desirable for appearance, and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

10 Y salía de Edén un río para regar el huerto, y de allí se repartía en cuatro brazos.

And a river is going out from Eden to water the garden, and from thence it is parted, and hath become four chief;

11 E l nombre del uno era Pisón; éste es el que rodea toda la tierra de Havila, donde hay oro;

the name of the one Pison, it that which is surrounding the whole land of the Havilah where the gold,

12 y el oro de aquella tierra es bueno; hay allí también bedelio y ónice.

and the gold of that land good, there the bdolach and the shoham stone;

13 E l nombre del segundo río es Gihón; éste es el que rodea toda la tierra de Cus.

and the name of the second river Gibon, it that which is surrounding the whole land of Cush;

14 Y el nombre del tercer río es Hidekel; éste es el que va al oriente de Asiria. Y el cuarto río es el Eufrates.

and the name of the third river Hiddekel, it that which is going east of Asshur; and the fourth river is Phrat.

15 T omó, pues, Jehová Dios al hombre, y lo puso en el huerto de Edén, para que lo labrara y lo guardase.

And Jehovah God taketh the man, and causeth him to rest in the garden of Eden, to serve it, and to keep it.

16 Y mandó Jehová Dios al hombre, diciendo: De todo árbol del huerto podrás comer;

And Jehovah God layeth a charge on the man, saying, `Of every tree of the garden eating thou dost eat;

17 m as del árbol de la ciencia del bien y del mal no comerás; porque el día que de él comieres, ciertamente morirás.

and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.'

18 Y dijo Jehová Dios: No es bueno que el hombre esté solo; le haré ayuda idónea para él.

And Jehovah God saith, `Not good for the man to be alone, I do make to him an helper -- as his counterpart.'

19 J ehová Dios formó, pues, de la tierra toda bestia del campo, y toda ave de los cielos, y las trajo a Adán para que viese cómo las había de llamar; y todo lo que Adán llamó a los animales vivientes, ese es su nombre.

And Jehovah God formeth from the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and bringeth in unto the man, to see what he doth call it; and whatever the man calleth a living creature, that its name.

20 Y puso Adán nombre a toda bestia y ave de los cielos y a todo ganado del campo; mas para Adán no se halló ayuda idónea para él.

And the man calleth names to all the cattle, and to fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; and to man hath not been found an helper -- as his counterpart.

21 E ntonces Jehová Dios hizo caer sueño profundo sobre Adán, y mientras éste dormía, tomó una de sus costillas, y cerró la carne en su lugar.

And Jehovah God causeth a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he sleepeth, and He taketh one of his ribs, and closeth up flesh in its stead.

22 Y de la costilla que Jehová Dios tomó del hombre, hizo una mujer, y la trajo al hombre.

And Jehovah God buildeth up the rib which He hath taken out of the man into a woman, and bringeth her in unto the man;

23 D ijo entonces Adán: Esto es ahora hueso de mis huesos y carne de mi carne; ésta será llamada Varona, porque del varón fue tomada.

and the man saith, `This the step! bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!' for this it is called Woman, for from a man hath this been taken;

24 P or tanto, dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y serán una sola carne.

therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh.

25 Y estaban ambos desnudos, Adán y su mujer, y no se avergonzaban.

And they are both of them naked, the man and his wife, and they are not ashamed of themselves.
