1 A lso ward vollendet Himmel und Erde mit ihrem ganzen Heer.

And the heavens and the earth are completed, and all their host;

2 U nd also vollendete Gott am siebenten Tage seine Werke, die er machte, und ruhte am siebenten Tage von allen seinen Werken, die er machte.

and God completeth by the seventh day His work which He hath made, and ceaseth by the seventh day from all His work which He hath made.

3 U nd Gott segnete den siebenten Tag und heiligte ihn, darum daß er an demselben geruht hatte von allen seinen Werken, die Gott schuf und machte.

And God blesseth the seventh day, and sanctifieth it, for in it He hath ceased from all His work which God had prepared for making.

4 A lso ist Himmel und Erde geworden, da sie geschaffen sind, zu der Zeit, da Gott der HERR Erde und Himmel machte.

These births of the heavens and of the earth in their being prepared, in the day of Jehovah God's making earth and heavens;

5 U nd allerlei Bäume auf dem Felde waren noch nicht auf Erden, und allerlei Kraut auf dem Felde war noch nicht gewachsen; denn Gott der HERR hatte noch nicht regnen lassen auf Erden, und es war kein Mensch, der das Land baute.

and no shrub of the field is yet in the earth, and no herb of the field yet sprouteth, for Jehovah God hath not rained upon the earth, and a man there is not to serve the ground,

6 A ber ein Nebel ging auf von der Erde und feuchtete alles Land.

and a mist goeth up from the earth, and hath watered the whole face of the ground.

7 U nd Gott der HERR machte den Menschen aus einem Erdenkloß, uns blies ihm ein den lebendigen Odem in seine Nase. Und also ward der Mensch eine lebendige Seele.

And Jehovah God formeth the man -- dust from the ground, and breatheth into his nostrils breath of life, and the man becometh a living creature.

8 U nd Gott der HERR pflanzte einen Garten in Eden gegen Morgen und setzte den Menschen hinein, den er gemacht hatte.

And Jehovah God planteth a garden in Eden, at the east, and He setteth there the man whom He hath formed;

9 U nd Gott der HERR ließ aufwachsen aus der Erde allerlei Bäume, lustig anzusehen und gut zu essen, und den Baum des Lebens mitten im Garten und den Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und Bösen.

and Jehovah God causeth to sprout from the ground every tree desirable for appearance, and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

10 U nd es ging aus von Eden ein Strom, zu wässern den Garten, und er teilte sich von da in vier Hauptwasser.

And a river is going out from Eden to water the garden, and from thence it is parted, and hath become four chief;

11 D as erste heißt Pison, das fließt um das ganze Land Hevila; und daselbst findet man Gold.

the name of the one Pison, it that which is surrounding the whole land of the Havilah where the gold,

12 U nd das Gold des Landes ist köstlich; und da findet man Bedellion und den Edelstein Onyx.

and the gold of that land good, there the bdolach and the shoham stone;

13 D as andere Wasser heißt Gihon, das fließt um um das ganze Mohrenland.

and the name of the second river Gibon, it that which is surrounding the whole land of Cush;

14 D as dritte Wasser heißt Hiddekel, das fließt vor Assyrien. Das vierte Wasser ist der Euphrat.

and the name of the third river Hiddekel, it that which is going east of Asshur; and the fourth river is Phrat.

15 U nd Gott der HERR nahm den Menschen und setzte ihn in den Garten Eden, daß er ihn baute und bewahrte.

And Jehovah God taketh the man, and causeth him to rest in the garden of Eden, to serve it, and to keep it.

16 U nd Gott der HERR gebot dem Menschen und sprach: Du sollst essen von allerlei Bäumen im Garten;

And Jehovah God layeth a charge on the man, saying, `Of every tree of the garden eating thou dost eat;

17 a ber von dem Baum der Erkenntnis des Guten und des Bösen sollst du nicht essen; denn welches Tages du davon ißt, wirst du des Todes sterben.

and of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou dost not eat of it, for in the day of thine eating of it -- dying thou dost die.'

18 U nd Gott der HERR sprach: Es ist nicht gut, daß der Mensch allein sei; ich will ihm eine Gehilfin machen, die um ihn sei.

And Jehovah God saith, `Not good for the man to be alone, I do make to him an helper -- as his counterpart.'

19 D enn als Gott der HERR gemacht hatte von der Erde allerlei Tiere auf dem Felde und allerlei Vögel unter dem Himmel, brachte er sie zu dem Menschen, daß er sähe, wie er sie nennte; denn der wie Mensch allerlei lebendige Tiere nennen würde, so sollten sie heißen.

And Jehovah God formeth from the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and bringeth in unto the man, to see what he doth call it; and whatever the man calleth a living creature, that its name.

20 U nd der Mensch gab einem jeglichen Vieh und Vogel unter dem Himmel und Tier auf dem Felde seinen Namen; aber für den Menschen ward keine Gehilfin gefunden, die um ihn wäre.

And the man calleth names to all the cattle, and to fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; and to man hath not been found an helper -- as his counterpart.

21 D a ließ Gott der HERR einen tiefen Schlaf fallen auf den Menschen, und er schlief ein. Und er nahm seiner Rippen eine und schloß die Stätte zu mit Fleisch.

And Jehovah God causeth a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he sleepeth, and He taketh one of his ribs, and closeth up flesh in its stead.

22 U nd Gott der HERR baute ein Weib aus der Rippe, die er vom Menschen nahm, und brachte sie zu ihm.

And Jehovah God buildeth up the rib which He hath taken out of the man into a woman, and bringeth her in unto the man;

23 D a sprach der Mensch: Das ist doch Bein von meinem Bein und Fleisch von meinem Fleisch; man wird sie Männin heißen, darum daß sie vom Manne genommen ist.

and the man saith, `This the step! bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!' for this it is called Woman, for from a man hath this been taken;

24 D arum wird ein Mann Vater und Mutter verlassen und an seinem Weibe hangen, und sie werden sein ein Fleisch.

therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh.

25 U nd sie waren beide nackt, der Mensch und das Weib, und schämten sich nicht.

And they are both of them naked, the man and his wife, and they are not ashamed of themselves.
