1 U nd Salomo, der Sohn Davids, ward in seinem Reich bekräftigt; und der HERR, sein Gott, war mit ihm und machte ihn immer größer.

And strengthen himself doth Solomon son of David over his kingdom, and Jehovah his God with him, and maketh him exceedingly great.

2 U nd Salomo redete mit dem ganzen Israel, mit den Obersten über tausend und hundert, mit den Richtern und mit allen Fürsten in Israel, mit den Obersten der Vaterhäuser,

And Solomon saith to all Israel, to heads of the thousands, and of the hundreds, and to judges, and to every honourable one of all Israel, heads of the fathers,

3 d aß sie hingingen, Salomo und die ganze Gemeinde mit ihm, zu der Höhe, die zu Gibeon war; denn daselbst war die Hütte des Stifts Gottes, die Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, gemacht hatte in der Wüste.

and they go -- Solomon, and all the assembly with him -- to the high place that in Gibeon, for there hath been God's tent of meeting, that Moses, servant of Jehovah, made in the wilderness,

4 ( Aber die Lade Gottes hatte David heraufgebracht von Kirjath-Jearim an den Ort, den er bereitet hatte; denn er hatte ihr eine Hütte aufgeschlagen zu Jerusalem.)

but the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem;

5 A ber der eherne Altar, den Bezaleel, der Sohn Uris, des Sohnes Hurs, gemacht hatte, war daselbst vor der Wohnung des HERRN; und Salomo und die Gemeinde pflegten ihn zu suchen.

and the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it.

6 U nd Salomo opferte auf dem ehernen Altar vor dem HERRN, der vor der Hütte des Stifts stand, tausend Brandopfer.

And Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.

7 I n derselben Nacht aber erschien Gott Salomo und sprach zu ihm: Bitte, was soll ich dir geben?

In that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

8 U nd Salomo sprach zu Gott: Du hast große Barmherzigkeit an meinem Vater David getan und hast mich an seiner Statt zum König gemacht;

And Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead.

9 s o laß nun, HERR, Gott, deine Worte wahr werden an meinem Vater David; denn du hast mich zum König gemacht über ein Volk, des so viel ist als Staub auf Erden.

Now, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth;

10 S o gib mir nun Weisheit und Erkenntnis, daß ich vor diesem Volk aus und ein gehe; denn wer kann dies dein großes Volk richten?

now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?'

11 D a sprach Gott zu Salomo: Weil du das im Sinn hast und hast nicht um Reichtum noch um Gut noch um Ehre noch um deiner Feinde Seele noch um langes Leben gebeten, sondern hast um Weisheit und Erkenntnis gebeten, daß du mein Volk richten mögst, darüber ich dich zum König gemacht habe,

And God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --

12 s o sei dir Weisheit und Erkenntnis gegeben; dazu will ich dir Reichtum und Gut und Ehre geben, daß deinesgleichen unter den Königen vor dir nicht gewesen ist noch werden soll nach dir.

the wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who before thee, and after thee it is not so.'

13 A lso kam Salomo von der Höhe, die zu Gibeon war, von der Hütte des Stifts, gen Jerusalem und regierte über Israel.

And Solomon cometh in the high place that in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel,

14 U nd Salomo sammelte sich Wagen und Reiter, daß er zuwege brachte tausendundvierhundert Wagen und zwölftausend Reiter, und legte sie in die Wagenstädte und zu dem König nach Jerusalem.

and Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

15 U nd der König machte, daß des Silbers und Goldes so viel war zu Jerusalem wie die Steine und der Zedern wie die Maulbeerbäume in den Gründen.

And the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that in the low country, for abundance.

16 U nd man brachte Salomo Rosse aus Ägypten und allerlei Ware; und die Kaufleute des Königs kauften die Ware

And the source of the horses that to Solomon from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price,

17 u nd brachten's aus Ägypten heraus, je einen Wagen um sechshundert Silberlinge, ein Roß um hundertfünfzig. Also brachten sie auch allen Königen der Hethiter und den Königen von Syrien.

and they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram -- by their hand they bring out.
