1 D a nahm das ganze Volk Juda Usia, der war sechzehn Jahre alt, und machten ihn zum König an seines Vaters Statt,

And all the people of Judah take Uzziah (and he a son of sixteen years), and cause him to reign instead of his father Amaziah.

2 D erselbe baute Eloth und brachte es wieder an Juda, nachdem der König entschlafen war mit seinen Vätern.

He hath built Eloth, and restoreth it to Judah after the king's lying with his fathers.

3 S echzehn Jahre alt war Usia, da er König ward, und regierte zweiundfünfzig Jahre zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Jecholja von Jerusalem.

A son of sixteen years Uzziah in his reigning, and fifty and two years he hath reigned in Jerusalem, and the name of his mother Jecholiah of Jerusalem.

4 U nd er tat, was dem HERRN wohl gefiel, wie sein Vater Amazja getan hatte.

And he doth that which is right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that Amaziah his father did,

5 U nd er suchte Gott, solange Sacharja lebte, der Lehrer in den Gesichten Gottes; und solange er den HERRN suchte, ließ es ihm Gott gelingen.

and he is as one seeking God in the days of Zechariah who hath understanding in visions of God: and in the days of his seeking Jehovah, God hath caused him to prosper.

6 D enn er zog aus und stritt wider die Philister und riß nieder die Mauer zu Gath und die Mauer zu Jabne und die Mauer zu Asdod und baute Städte um Asdod und unter den Philistern.

And he goeth forth, and fighteth with the Philistines, and breaketh down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and buildeth cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

7 D enn Gott half ihm wider die Philister, wider die Araber, die zu Gur-Baal wohnten, und wider die Meuniter.

And God helpeth him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians who are dwelling in Gur-Baal and the Mehunim.

8 U nd die Ammoniter gaben Usia Geschenke, und er ward berühmt so weit, bis man kommt nach Ägypten; denn er ward immer stärker und stärker.

And the Ammonites give a present to Uzziah, and his name goeth unto the entering in of Egypt, for he strengthened himself greatly.

9 U nd Usia baute Türme zu Jerusalem am Ecktor und am Taltor und am Winkel und befestigte sie.

And Uzziah buildeth towers in Jerusalem, by the gate of the corner, and by the gate of the valley, and by the angle, and strengtheneth them;

10 E r baute auch Türme in der Wüste und grub viele Brunnen. Denn er hatte viel Vieh, sowohl in den Auen als auf den Ebenen, auch Ackerleute und Weingärtner an den Bergen und am Karmel; denn er hatte Lust zum Ackerwerk.

and he buildeth towers in the wilderness, and diggeth many wells, for he had much cattle, both in the low country and in the plain, husbandmen and vine-dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel; for he was a lover of the ground.

11 U nd Usia hatte eine Macht zum Streit, die ins Heer zogen, von Kriegsknechten, in der Zahl gerechnet durch Jeiel, den Schreiber, und Maaseja, den Amtmann, unter der Hand Hananjas aus den Obersten des Königs.

And Uzziah hath a force, making war, going forth to the host, by troops, in the number of their reckoning by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Masseiah the officer, by the hand of Hananiah of the heads of the king.

12 U nd die Zahl der Häupter der Vaterhäuser unter den starken Kriegern war zweitausend und sechshundert,

The whole number of heads of the fathers of the mighty ones of valour two thousand and six hundred;

13 u nd unter ihrer Hand die Heeresmacht dreihunderttausend und siebentausendundfünfhundert, zum Streit geschickt in Heereskraft, zu helfen dem König wider die Feinde.

and by their hand the force of the host, three hundred thousand, and seven thousand, and five hundred warriors, with mighty power to give help to the king against the enemy.

14 U nd Usia schaffte ihnen für das ganze Heer Schilde, Spieße, Helme, Panzer, Bogen und Schleudersteine

And Uzziah prepareth for them, for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, even to stones of the slings.

15 u nd machte zu Jerusalem kunstvolle Geschütze, die auf den Türmen und Ecken sein sollten, zu schießen mit Pfeilen und großen Steinen. Und sein Name kam weit aus, darum daß ihm wunderbar geholfen ward, bis er mächtig ward.

And he maketh in Jerusalem inventions -- a device of an inventor -- to be on the towers, and on the corners, to shoot with arrows and with great stones, and his name goeth out unto a distance, for he hath been wonderfully helped till that he hath been strong.

16 U nd da er mächtig geworden war, überhob sich sein Herz zu seinem Verderben; denn er vergriff sich an dem HERRN, seinem Gott, und ging in den Tempel des HERRN, zu räuchern auf dem Räucheraltar.

And at his being strong his heart hath been high unto destruction, and he trespasseth against Jehovah his God, and goeth in unto the temple of Jehovah to make perfume upon the altar of perfume.

17 A ber Asarja, der Priester, ging ihm nach und achtzig Priester des HERRN mit ihm, ansehnliche Leute,

And Azariah the priest goeth in after him, and with him priests of Jehovah eighty, sons of valour,

18 u nd standen wider Usia, den König, und sprachen zu ihm: Es gebührt dir, Usia, nicht, zu räuchern dem HERRN, sondern den Priestern, Aarons Kindern, die zu räuchern geheiligt sind. Gehe heraus aus dem Heiligtum; denn du vergreifst dich, und es wird dir keine Ehre sein vor Gott dem HERRN.

and they stand up against Uzziah the king, and say to him, `Not for thee, O Uzziah, to make perfume to Jehovah, but for priests, sons of Aaron, who are sanctified to make perfume; go forth from the sanctuary, for thou hast trespassed, and not to thee for honour from Jehovah God.'

19 A ber Usia ward zornig und hatte ein Räuchfaß in der Hand. Und da er mit den Priestern zürnte, fuhr der Aussatz aus an seiner Stirn vor den Priestern im Hause des HERRN, vor dem Räucheraltar.

And Uzziah is wroth, and in his hand a censer to make perfume, and in his being wroth with the priests -- the leprosy hath risen in his forehead, before the priests, in the house of Jehovah, from beside the altar of perfume.

20 U nd Asarja, der oberste Priester, wandte das Haupt zu ihm und alle Priester, und siehe, da war er aussätzig an seiner Stirn; und sie stießen ihn von dannen. Er eilte auch selbst, herauszugehen; denn seine Plage war vom HERRN.

And Azariah the head priest looketh unto him, and all the priests, and lo, he leprous in his forehead, and they hasten him thence, and also he himself hath hastened to go out, for Jehovah hath plagued him.

21 A lso war Usia, der König, aussätzig bis an seinen Tod und wohnte in einem besonderen Hause aussätzig; denn er ward verstoßen vom Hause des HERRN. Jotham aber, sein Sohn, stand des Königs Hause vor und richtete das Volk im Lande.

And Uzziah the king is a leper unto the day of his death, and inhabiteth a separate house -- a leper, for he hath been cut off from the house of Jehovah, and Jotham his son over the house of the king, judging the people of the land.

22 W as aber mehr von Usia zu sagen ist, beides, das erste und das letzte, hat beschrieben der Prophet Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz.

And the rest of the matters of Uzziah, the first and the last, hath Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet written;

23 U nd Usia entschlief mit seinen Vätern, und sie begruben ihn bei seinen Vätern im Acker bei dem Begräbnis der Könige; denn sie sprachen: Er ist aussätzig. Und Jotham, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

and Uzziah lieth with his fathers, and they bury him with his fathers, in the field of the burying-place that the kings have, for they said, `He a leper;' and reign doth Jotham his son in his stead.
