1 D a versammelt der König Salomo zu sich die Ältesten in Israel, alle Obersten der Stämme und Fürsten der Vaterhäuser unter den Kindern Israel gen Jerusalem, die Lade des Bundes des HERRN heraufzubringen aus der Stadt Davids, das ist Zion.

Then doth Solomon assemble the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, princes of the fathers of the sons of Israel, unto king Solomon, to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovah from the city of David -- it Zion;

2 U nd es versammelten sich zum König Salomo alle Männer in Israel im Monat Ethanim, am Fest, das ist der siebente Monat.

and all the men of Israel are assembled unto king Solomon, in the month of Ethanim, in the festival -- the seventh month.

3 U nd da alle Ältesten Israels kamen, hoben die Priester die Lade des HERRN auf

And all the elders of Israel come in, and the priests lift up the ark,

4 u nd brachten sie hinauf, dazu die Hütte des Stifts und alle Geräte des Heiligtums, das in der Hütte war. Das taten die Priester und die Leviten.

and bring up the ark of Jehovah, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vessels that in the tent, yea, the priests and the Levites bring them up.

5 U nd der König Salomo und die ganze Gemeinde Israel, die sich zu ihm versammelt hatte, gingen mit ihm vor der Lade her und opferten Schafe und Rinder, so viel, daß man's nicht zählen noch rechnen konnte.

And king Solomon and all the company of Israel who are met unto him with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that are not counted nor numbered for multitude.

6 A lso brachten die Priester die Lade des Bundes des HERRN an ihren Ort, in den Chor des Hauses, in das Allerheiligste, unter die Flügel der Cherubim.

And the priests bring in the ark of the covenant of Jehovah unto its place, unto the oracle of the house, unto the holy of holies, unto the place of the wings of the cherubs;

7 D enn die Cherubim breiteten die Flügel aus an dem Ort, da die Lade stand, und bedeckten die Lade und ihre Stangen von obenher.

for the cherubs are spreading forth two wings unto the place of the ark, and the cherubs cover over the ark, and over its staves from above;

8 U nd die Stangen waren so lang, daß ihre Knäufe gesehen wurden in dem Heiligtum vor dem Chor, aber außen wurden sie nicht gesehen, und waren daselbst bis auf diesen Tag.

and they lengthen the staves, and the heads of the staves are seen from the holy on the front of the oracle, and are not seen without, and they are there unto this day.

9 U nd war nichts in der Lade denn nur die zwei steinernen Tafeln Mose's, die er hineingelegt hatte am Horeb, da der HERR mit den Kindern Israel einen Bund machte, da sie aus Ägyptenland gezogen waren.

There is nothing in the ark, only the two tables of stone which Moses put there in Horeb, when Jehovah covenanted with the sons of Israel in their going out of the land of Egypt.

10 D a aber die Priester aus dem Heiligtum gingen, erfüllte die Wolke das Haus des HERRN,

And it cometh to pass, in the going out of the priests from the holy, that the cloud hath filled the house of Jehovah,

11 d aß die Priester nicht konnten stehen und des Amts pflegen vor der Wolke; denn die Herrlichkeit des HERRN erfüllte das Haus des HERRN.

and the priests have not been able to stand to minister because of the cloud, for the honour of Jehovah hath filled the house of Jehovah.

12 D a sprach Salomo: Der HERR hat geredet, er wolle im Dunkel wohnen.

Then said Solomon, `Jehovah hath said to dwell in thick darkness;

13 S o habe ich nun ein Haus gebaut dir zur Wohnung, einen Sitz, daß du ewiglich da wohnest.

I have surely built a house of habitation for Thee; a fixed place for Thine abiding to the ages.'

14 U nd der König wandte sein Angesicht und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israel; und die ganze Gemeinde Israel stand.

And the king turneth round his face, and blesseth the whole assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel is standing.

15 U nd er sprach: Gelobet sei der HERR, der Gott Israels, der durch seinen Mund meinem Vater David geredet und durch seine Hand erfüllt hat und gesagt:

And he saith, `Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who spake by His mouth with David my father, and by His hand hath fulfilled, saying,

16 V on dem Tage an, da ich mein Volk Israel aus Ägypten führte, habe ich keine Stadt erwählt unter irgend einem Stamm Israels, daß mir ein Haus gebaut würde, daß mein Name da wäre; David aber habe ich erwählt, daß er über mein Volk Israel sein sollte.

From the day that I brought out My people, even Israel, from Egypt, I have not fixed on a city out of all the tribes of Israel, to build a house for My name being there; and I fix on David to be over My people Israel.

17 U nd mein Vater David hatte es zuvor im Sinn, daß er ein Haus baute dem Namen des HERRN, des Gottes Israels;

`And it is with the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovah, God of Israel,

18 a ber der HERR sprach zu meinem Vater David: Daß du im Sinn hast, meinem Namen ein Haus zu bauen, hast du wohl getan, daß du dir solches vornahmst.

and Jehovah saith unto David my father, Because that it hath been with thy heart to build a house for My name, thou hast done well that it hath been with thy heart;

19 D och du sollst das Haus nicht bauen; sondern dein Sohn, der aus deinen Lenden kommen wird, der soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen.

only, thou dost not build the house, but thy son who is coming out from thy loins, he doth build the house for My name.

20 U nd der HERR hat sein Wort bestätigt, das er geredet hat; denn ich bin aufgekommen an meines Vaters Davids Statt und sitze auf dem Stuhl Israels, wie der HERR geredet hat, und habe gebaut ein Haus dem Namen des HERRN des Gottes Israels,

`And Jehovah doth establish His word which He spake, and I am risen up instead of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovah spake, and build the house for the name of Jehovah, God of Israel,

21 u nd habe daselbst eine Stätte zugerichtet der Lade, darin der Bund des HERRN ist, den er gemacht hat mit unsern Vätern, da er sie aus Ägyptenland führte.

and set there a place for the ark, where the covenant of Jehovah which He made with our fathers in His bringing them out from the land of Egypt.'

22 U nd Salomo trat vor den Altar des HERRN gegenüber der ganzen Gemeinde Israel und breitete seine Hände aus gen Himmel

And Solomon standeth before the altar of Jehovah, over-against all the assembly of Israel, and spreadeth his hands towards the heavens,

23 u nd sprach: HERR, Gott Israels, es ist kein Gott, weder droben im Himmel noch unten auf der Erden, dir gleich, der du hältst den Bund und die Barmherzigkeit deinen Knechten, die vor dir wandeln von ganzem Herzen;

and saith, `Jehovah, God of Israel, there is not a God like Thee, in the heavens above, and on the earth beneath, keeping the covenant and the kindness for Thy servants, those walking before Thee with all their heart,

24 d er du hast gehalten deinem Knecht, meinem Vater David, was du ihm geredet hast. Mit deinem Mund hast du es geredet, und mit deiner Hand hast du es erfüllt, wie es steht an diesem Tage.

who hast kept for Thy servant David my father that which Thou spakest to him; yea, Thou speakest with Thy mouth, and with Thy hand hast fulfilled, as this day.

25 N un, HERR, Gott Israels, halte deinem Knecht, meinem Vater David, was du ihm verheißen hast und gesagt: Es soll dir nicht gebrechen an einem Mann vor mir, der da sitze auf dem Stuhl Israels, so doch, daß deine Kinder ihren Weg bewahren, daß sie vor mir wandeln, wie du vor mir gewandelt hast.

`And now, Jehovah, God of Israel, keep for Thy servant David my father that which Thou spakest to him, saying, There is not cut off to thee a man from before Me, sitting on the throne of Israel -- only, if thy sons watch their way, to walk before Me as thou hast walked before Me.

26 N un, Gott Israels, laß deine Worte wahr werden, die du deinem Knecht, meinem Vater David, geredet hast.

`And now, O God of Israel, let it be established, I pray Thee, Thy word which Thou hast spoken to Thy servant, David my father.

27 D enn sollte in Wahrheit Gott auf Erden wohnen? Siehe, der Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel können dich nicht fassen; wie sollte es denn dies Haus tun, das ich gebaut habe?

But, is it true? -- God dwelleth on the earth! lo, the heavens, and the heavens of the heavens do not contain Thee, how much less this house which I have builded!

28 W ende dich aber zum Gebet deines Knechtes und zu seinem Flehen, HERR, mein Gott, auf daß du hörest das Lob und Gebet, das dein Knecht heute vor dir tut;

`Then thou hast turned unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, O Jehovah my God, to hearken unto the cry and unto the prayer which Thy servant is praying before Thee to-day,

29 d aß deine Augen offen stehen über dies Haus Nacht und Tag, über die Stätte, davon du gesagt hast: Mein Name soll da sein. Du wollest hören das Gebet, das dein Knecht an dieser Stätte tut,

for Thine eyes being open towards this house night and day, towards the place of which Thou hast said, My Name is there; to hearken unto the prayer which Thy servant prayeth towards this place.

30 u nd wollest erhören das Flehen deines Knechtes und deines Volkes Israel, das sie hier tun werden an dieser Stätte; und wenn du es hörst in deiner Wohnung, im Himmel, wollest du gnädig sein.

`Then Thou hast hearkened unto the supplication of Thy servant, and of Thy people Israel, which they pray towards this place; yea, Thou dost hearken in the place of Thy dwelling, in the heavens -- and Thou hast hearkened, and hast forgiven,

31 W enn jemand wider seinen Nächsten sündigt und es wird ihm ein Eid aufgelegt, den er schwören soll, und der Eid kommt vor deinen Altar in diesem Hause:

that which a man sinneth against his neighbour, and he hath lifted up upon him an oath to cause him to swear, and the oath hath come in before Thine altar in this house,

32 s o wollest du hören im Himmel und recht schaffen deinen Knechten, den Gottlosen zu verdammen und seinen Wandel auf seinen Kopf zu bringen und den Gerechten gerecht zu sprechen, ihm zu geben nach seiner Gerechtigkeit.

then Thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast done, and hast judged Thy servants, to declare wicked the wicked, to put his way on his head, and to declare righteous the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

33 W enn dein Volk Israel vor seinen Feinden geschlagen wird, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie bekehren sich zu dir und bekennen deinen Namen und beten und flehen zu dir in diesem Hause:

`In Thy people Israel being smitten before an enemy, because they sin against Thee, and they have turned back unto Thee, and have confessed Thy name, and prayed, and made supplication unto Thee in this house,

34 s o wollest du hören im Himmel und der Sünde deines Volkes Israel gnädig sein und sie wiederbringen in das Land, das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast.

then thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy people Israel, and brought them back unto the ground that Thou gavest to their fathers.

35 W enn der Himmel verschlossen wird, daß es nicht regnet, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie werden beten an diesem Ort und deinen Namen bekennen und sich von ihren Sünden bekehren, weil du sie drängest;

`In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against Thee, and they have prayed towards this place, and confessed Thy name, and from their sin turn back, for Thou dost afflict them,

36 s o wollest du hören im Himmel und gnädig sein der Sünde deiner Knechte und deines Volkes Israel, daß du ihnen den guten Weg weisest, darin sie wandeln sollen, und lassest regnen auf das Land, das du deinem Volk zum Erbe gegeben hast.

then Thou dost hear in the heavens, and hast forgiven the sin of Thy servants, and of Thy people Israel, for Thou directest them the good way in which they go, and hast given rain on Thy land which Thou hast given to Thy people for inheritance.

37 W enn eine Teuerung oder Pestilenz oder Dürre oder Brand oder Heuschrecken oder Raupen im Lande sein werden, oder sein Feind im Lande seine Tore belagert, oder irgend eine Plage oder Krankheit da ist;

`Famine -- when it is in the land; pestilence -- when it is; blasting, mildew, locust; caterpillar -- when it is; when its enemy hath distressed it in the land its gates, any plague, any sickness, --

38 w er dann bittet und fleht, es seien sonst Menschen oder dein ganzes Volk Israel, die da gewahr werden ihrer Plage ein jeglicher in seinem Herzen, und breitet seine Hände aus zu diesem Hause:

any prayer, any supplication that of any man of all Thy people Israel, who know each the plague of his own heart, and hath spread his hands towards this house,

39 s o wollest du hören im Himmel, in dem Sitz, da du wohnst, und gnädig sein und schaffen, daß du gebest einem jeglichen, wie er gewandelt hat, wie du sein Herz erkennst, denn du allein kennst das Herz aller Kinder der Menschen,

then Thou dost hear in the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast forgiven, and hast done, and hast given to each according to all his ways, whose heart Thou knowest, (for Thou hast known -- Thyself alone -- the heart of all the sons of man),

40 a uf daß sie dich fürchten allezeit, solange sie in dem Lande leben, das du unsern Vätern gegeben hast.

so that they fear Thee all the days that they are living on the face of the ground that Thou hast given to our fathers.

41 W enn auch ein Fremder, der nicht von deinem Volk Israel ist, kommt aus fernem Lande um deines Namens willen

`And also, unto the stranger who is not of Thy people Israel, and hath come from a land afar off for Thy name's sake --

42 ( denn sie werden hören von deinem großen Namen und von deiner mächtigen Hand und von deinem ausgereckten Arm), und kommt, daß er bete vor diesem Hause:

(for they hear of Thy great name, and of Thy strong hand, and of Thy stretched-out arm) -- and he hath come in and prayed towards this house,

43 s o wollest du hören im Himmel, im Sitz deiner Wohnung, und tun alles, darum der Fremde dich anruft, auf daß alle Völker auf Erden deinen Namen erkennen, daß sie auch dich fürchten wie dein Volk Israel und daß sie innewerden, wie dies Haus nach deinem Namen genannt sei, das ich gebaut habe.

Thou dost hear in the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, and hast done according to all that the stranger calleth unto Thee for, in order that all the peoples of the earth may know Thy name, to fear Thee like Thy people Israel, and to know that Thy name hath been called on this house which I have builded.

44 W enn dein Volk auszieht in den Streit wider seine Feinde des Weges, den du sie senden wirst, und sie werden beten zum HERRN nach der Stadt hin, die du erwählt hast, und nach dem Hause, das ich deinem Namen gebaut habe:

`When Thy people doth go out to battle against its enemy, in the way that Thou dost send them, and they have prayed unto Jehovah the way of the city which thou hast fixed on, and of the house which I have builded for Thy name;

45 s o wollest du ihr Gebet und Flehen hören im Himmel und Recht schaffen.

then Thou hast heard in the heavens their prayer and their supplication, and hast maintained their cause.

46 W enn sie an dir sündigen werden (denn es ist kein Mensch, der nicht sündigt), und du erzürnst und gibst sie dahin vor ihren Feinden, daß sie sie gefangen führen in der Feinde Land, fern oder nahe,

`When they sin against Thee (for there is not a man who sinneth not), and Thou hast been angry with them, and hast given them up before an enemy, and they have taken captive their captivity unto the land of the enemy far off or near;

47 u nd sie in ihr Herz schlagen in dem Lande, da sie gefangen sind, und bekehren sich und flehen zu dir im Lande ihres Gefängnisses und sprechen: Wir haben gesündigt und übel getan und sind gottlos gewesen,

and they have turned back unto their heart in the land whither they have been taken captive, and have turned back, and made supplication unto Thee, in the land of their captors, saying, We have sinned and done perversely -- we have done wickedly;

48 u nd bekehren sich also zu dir von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele in ihrer Feinde Land, die sie weggeführt haben, und beten zu dir nach ihrem Lande hin, das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast, nach der Stadt hin, die du erwählt hast, und nach dem Hause, das ich deinem Namen gebaut habe:

yea, they have turned back unto Thee, with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies who have taken them captive, and have prayed unto Thee the way of their land, which Thou gavest to their fathers, the city which Thou hast chosen, and the house which I have builded for Thy name:

49 s o wollest du ihr Gebet und Flehen hören im Himmel, vom Sitz deiner Wohnung, und Recht schaffen

`Then Thou hast heard in the heavens, the settled place of Thy dwelling, their prayer and their supplication, and hast maintained their cause,

50 u nd deinem Volk gnädig sein, das an dir gesündigt hat, und allen ihren Übertretungen, damit sie wider dich übertreten haben, und Barmherzigkeit geben vor denen, die sie gefangen halten, daß sie sich ihrer erbarmen;

and hast forgiven Thy people who have sinned against Thee, even all their transgressions which they have transgressed against Thee, and hast given them mercies before their captors, and they have had mercy them --

51 d enn sie sind dein Volk und dein Erbe, die du aus Ägypten, aus dem eisernen Ofen, geführt hast.

(for Thy people and Thy inheritance they, whom Thou didst bring out of Egypt, out of the midst of the furnace of iron) --

52 L aß deine Augen offen sein auf das Flehen deines Knechtes und deines Volkes Israel, daß du sie hörest in allem, darum sie dich anrufen;

for Thine eyes being open unto the supplication of Thy servant, and unto the supplication of Thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all they call unto Thee for;

53 d enn du hast sie dir abgesondert zum Erbe aus allen Völkern auf Erden, wie du geredet hast durch Mose, deinen Knecht, da du unsre Väter aus Ägypten führtest, HERR HERR!

for Thou hast separated them to Thyself for an inheritance, out of all the peoples of the earth, as Thou didst speak by the hand of Moses Thy servant, in Thy bringing out our fathers from Egypt, O Lord Jehovah.'

54 U nd da Salomo all dieses Gebet und Flehen hatte vor dem HERRN ausgebetet, stand er auf von dem Altar des HERRN und ließ ab vom Knieen und Hände-Ausbreiten gen Himmel

And it cometh to pass, at Solomon's finishing to pray unto Jehovah all this prayer and supplication, he hath risen from before the altar of Jehovah, from bending on his knees, and his hands spread out to the heavens,

55 u nd trat dahin und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israel mit lauter Stimme und sprach:

and he standeth and blesseth all the assembly of Israel a loud voice, saying,

56 G elobet sei der HERR, der seinem Volk Israel Ruhe gegeben hat, wie er geredet hat. Es ist nicht eins dahingefallen aus allen seinen guten Worten, die er geredet hat durch seinen Knecht Mose.

`Blessed Jehovah who hath given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He hath spoken; there hath not fallen one word of all His good word, which He spake by the hand of Moses his servant.

57 D er Herr, unser Gott, sei mit uns, wie er gewesen ist mit unsern Vätern. Er verlasse uns nicht und ziehe die Hand nicht ab von uns,

`Jehovah our God is with us as He hath been with our fathers; He doth not forsake us nor leave us;

58 z u neigen unser Herz zu ihm, daß wir wandeln in allen seinen Wegen und halten seine Gebote, Sitten und Rechte, die er unsern Vätern geboten hat.

to incline our heart unto Himself, to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commands, and His statutes, and His judgments, which He commanded our fathers;

59 U nd diese Worte, die ich vor dem HERR gefleht habe, müssen nahekommen dem HERRN, unserm Gott, Tag und Nacht, daß er Recht schaffe seinem Knecht und seinem Volk Israel, ein jegliches zu seiner Zeit,

and these my words with which I have made supplication before Jehovah, are near unto Jehovah our God by day and by night, to maintain the cause of His servant, and the cause of His people Israel, the matter of a day in its day;

60 a uf daß alle Völker auf Erden erkennen, daß der HERR Gott ist und keiner mehr.

for all the peoples of the earth knowing that Jehovah, He God; there is none else;

61 U nd euer Herz sei rechtschaffen mit dem HERRN, unserm Gott, zu wandeln in seinen Sitten und zu halten seine Gebote, wie es heute geht.

and your heart hath been perfect with Jehovah our God, to walk in His statutes, and to keep His commands, as this day.'

62 U nd der König samt dem ganzen Israel opferten vor dem HERRN Opfer.

And the king and all Israel with him are sacrificing a sacrifice before Jehovah;

63 U nd Salomo opferte Dankopfer, die er dem HERR opferte, zweiundzwanzigtausend Ochsen und hundertzwanzigtausend Schafe. Also weihten sie das Haus des HERRN ein, der König und alle Kinder Israel.

and Solomon sacrificeth the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which he hath sacrificed to Jehovah, oxen, twenty and two thousand, and sheep, a hundred and twenty thousand; and the king and all the sons of Israel dedicate the house of Jehovah.

64 D esselben Tages weihte der König die Mitte des Hofes, der vor dem Hause des HERRN war, damit, daß er Brandopfer, Speisopfer und das Fett der Dankopfer daselbst ausrichtete. Denn der eherne Altar, der vor dem HERRN stand, war zu klein zu dem Brandopfer, Speisopfer und zum Fett der Dankopfer.

On that day hath the king sanctified the middle of the court that before the house of Jehovah, for he hath made there the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings; for the altar of brass that before Jehovah too little to contain the burnt-offering, and the present, and the fat of the peace-offerings.

65 U nd Salomo machte zu der Zeit ein Fest und alles Israel mit ihm, eine große Versammlung, von der Grenze Hamaths an bis an den Bach Ägyptens, vor dem HERRN, unserm Gott, sieben Tage und abermals sieben Tage, das waren vierzehn Tage.

And Solomon maketh, at that time, the festival -- and all Israel with him, a great assembly from the entering in of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt -- before Jehovah our God, seven days and seven days; fourteen days.

66 U nd er ließ das Volk des achten Tages gehen. Und sie segneten den König und gingen hin zu ihren Hütten fröhlich und guten Muts über all dem Guten, das der HERR an David, seinem Knecht und an seinem Volk Israel getan hatte.

On the eighth day he hath sent the people away, and they bless the king, and go to their tents, rejoicing and glad of heart for all the good that Jehovah hath done to David His servant, and to Israel His people.
