1 D ies ist's, was Amos, der unter den Hirten zu Thekoa war, gesehen hat über Israel zur Zeit Usias, des Königs in Juda, und Jerobeams, des Sohnes Joas, des Königs Israels, zwei Jahre vor dem Erdbeben.

Words of Amos -- who hath been among herdsmen of Tekoa -- that he hath seen concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the shaking;

2 U nd er sprach: Der HERR wird aus Zion brüllen und seine Stimme aus Jerusalem hören lassen, daß die Auen der Hirten jämmerlich stehen werden und der Karmel oben verdorren wird.

and he saith: Jehovah from Zion doth roar, And from Jerusalem giveth forth His voice, And mourned have pastures of the shepherds, And withered hath the top of Carmel!

3 S o spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Damasker will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie Gilead mit eisernen Zacken gedroschen haben;

And thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Damascus, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their threshing Gilead with sharp-pointed irons,

4 s ondern ich will ein Feuer schicken in das Haus Hasaels, das soll die Paläste Benhadads verzehren.

And I have sent a fire against the house of Hazael, And it hath consumed the palaces of Ben-Hadad.

5 U nd ich will die Riegel zu Damaskus zerbrechen und die Einwohner auf dem Felde Aven samt dem, der das Zepter hält, aus dem Lusthause ausrotten, daß das Volk in Syrien soll gen Kir weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.

And I have broken the bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from Bikat-Aven, And a holder of a sceptre from Beth-Eden, And removed have been the people of Aram to Kir, said Jehovah.

6 S o spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevels willen Gazas will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gefangenen alle weggeführt und an Edom überantwortet haben;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their removing a complete captivity, To deliver up to Edom,

7 s ondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern zu Gaza schicken, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren.

And I have sent a fire against the wall of Gaza, And it hath consumed her palaces;

8 U nd ich will die Einwohner aus Asdod und den, der das Zepter hält, aus Askalon ausrotten und meine Hand wider Ekron kehren, daß umkommen soll, was von den Philistern noch übrig ist, spricht der HERR HERR.

And I have cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, And a holder of a sceptre from Ashkelon, And have turned back My hand against Ekron, And perished have the remnant of the Philistines, Said the Lord Jehovah.

9 S o spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Stadt Tyrus will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Gefangenen alle an Edom überantwortet haben und nicht gedacht an den Bund der Brüder;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Tyre, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their delivering up a complete captivity to Edom, And they remembered not the brotherly covenant,

10 s ondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern zu Tyrus schicken, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren.

And I have sent a fire against the wall of Tyre, And it hath consumed her palaces.

11 S o spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen Edoms will ich sein nicht schonen, darum daß er seinen Bruder mit dem Schwert verfolgt hat und daß er alles Erbarmen von sich getan und immer wütet in seinem Zorn und seinem Grimm ewig hält;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of Edom, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of his pursuing with a sword his brother, And he hath destroyed his mercies, And tear perpetually doth his anger, And his wrath -- he hath kept it for ever,

12 s ondern ich will ein Feuer schicken gen Theman, das soll die Paläste zu Bozra verzehren.

And I have sent a fire against Teman, And it hath consumed palaces of Bozrah.

13 S o spricht der HERR: Um drei und vier Frevel willen der Kinder Ammon will ich ihrer nicht schonen, darum daß sie die Schwangeren in Gilead zerrissen haben, damit sie ihre Grenze weiter machten;

Thus said Jehovah: For three transgressions of the sons of Ammon, And for four, I do not reverse it, Because of their ripping up the pregnant ones of Gilead, To enlarge their border,

14 s ondern ich will ein Feuer anzünden in den Mauern Rabbas, das soll ihre Paläste verzehren, wenn man rufen wird zur Zeit des Streits und wenn das Wetter kommen wird zur Zeit des Sturms.

And I have kindled a fire against the wall of Rabbah, And it hath consumed her palaces, With a shout in a day of battle, With a whirlwind in a day of hurricane,

15 D a wird dann ihr König samt seinen Fürsten gefangen weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.

And gone hath their king in a removal, He and his heads together, said Jehovah!
