1 D ies sind die letzten Worte Davids: Es sprach David der Sohn Isais, es sprach der Mann, der hoch erhoben ist, der Gesalbte des Gottes Jakobs, lieblich mit Psalmen Israels.

And these the last words of David: -- `The affirmation of David son of Jesse -- And the affirmation of the man raised up -- Concerning the Anointed of the God of Jacob, And the Sweetness of the Songs of Israel:

2 D er Geist des HERRN hat durch mich geredet, und seine Rede ist auf meiner Zunge.

The Spirit of Jehovah hath spoken by me, And His word on my tongue.

3 E s hat der Gott Israels zu mir gesprochen, der Hort Israels hat geredet: Ein Gerechter herrscht unter den Menschen, er herrscht mit der Furcht Gottes

He said -- the God of Israel -- to me, He spake -- the Rock of Israel: He who is ruling over man righteous, He is ruling in the fear of God.

4 u nd ist wie das Licht des Morgens, wenn die Sonne aufgeht, am Morgen ohne Wolken, da vom Glanz nach dem Regen das Gras aus der Erde wächst.

And as the light of morning he riseth, A morning sun -- no clouds! By the shining, by the rain, Tender grass of the earth!

5 D enn ist mein Haus nicht also bei Gott? Denn er hat mir einen ewigen Bund gesetzt, der in allem wohl geordnet und gehalten wird. All mein Heil und all mein Begehren, das wird er wachsen lassen.

For -- not so my house with God; For -- a covenant age-during He made with me, Arranged in all things, and kept; For -- all my salvation, and all desire, For -- He hath not caused to spring up.

6 A ber die heillosen Leute sind allesamt wie die ausgeworfenen Disteln, die man nicht mit Händen fassen kann;

As to the worthless -- As a thorn driven away all of them, For -- not by hand are they taken;

7 s ondern wer sie angreifen soll, muß Eisen und Spießstange in der Hand haben; sie werden mit Feuer verbrannt an ihrem Ort.

And the man who cometh against them Is filled with iron and the staff of a spear, And with fire they are utterly burnt In the cessation.'

8 D ies sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Jasobeam, der Sohn Hachmonis, ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern; er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug achthundert auf einmal.

These the names of the mighty ones whom David hath: sitting in the seat the Tachmonite, head of the captains -- he Adino, who hardened himself against eight hundred -- wounded at one time.

9 N ach ihm war Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, des Sohnes Ahohis, unter den drei Helden mit David. Da sie Hohn sprachen den Philistern und daselbst versammelt waren zum Streit und die Männer Israels hinaufzogen,

And after him Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi, of the three mighty men with David; in their exposing themselves among the Philistines -- they have been gathered there to battle, and the men of Israel go up --

10 d a stand er und schlug die Philister, bis seine Hand müde am Schwert erstarrte. Und der HERR gab ein großes Heil zu der Zeit, daß das Volk umwandte ihm nach, zu rauben.

he hath arisen, and smiteth among the Philistines till that his hand hath been weary, and his hand cleaveth unto the sword, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation on that day, and the people turn back after him only to strip off.

11 N ach ihm war Samma, der Sohn Ages, des Harariters. Da die Philister sich versammelten in eine Rotte, und war daselbst ein Stück Acker voll Linsen, und das Volk floh vor den Philistern,

And after him Shammah son of Agee the Hararite, and the Philistines are gathered into a company, and there is there a portion of the field full of lentiles, and the people hath fled from the presence of the Philistines,

12 d a trat er mitten auf das Stück und errettete es und schlug die Philister; und Gott gab ein großes Heil.

and he stationeth himself in the midst of the portion, and delivereth it, and smiteth the Philistines, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation.

13 U nd diese drei Vornehmsten unter dreißigen kamen hinab in der Ernte zu David in die Höhle Adullam, und die Rotte der Philister lag im Grunde Rephaim.

And three of the thirty heads go down and come unto the harvest, unto David, unto the cave of Adullam, and the company of the Philistines are encamping in the valley of Rephaim,

14 D avid aber war dazumal an sicherem Ort; aber der Philister Volk lag zu Bethlehem.

and David then in a fortress, and the station of the Philistines then in Beth-Lehem,

15 U nd David ward lüstern und sprach: Wer will mir Wasser zu trinken holen aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor?

and David longeth and saith, `Who doth give me a drink of the water of the well of Beth-Lehem, which by the gate?'

16 D a brachen die drei Helden ins Lager der Philister und schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen zu Bethlehem unter dem Tor und trugen's und brachten's zu David. Aber er wollte nicht trinken sondern goß es aus dem HERRN

And the three mighty ones cleave through the camp of the Philistines, and draw water out of the well of Beth-Lehem, which by the gate, and take up, and bring in unto David; and he was not willing to drink it, and poureth it out to Jehovah,

17 u nd sprach: Das lasse der HERR fern von mir sein, daß ich das tue! Ist's nicht das Blut der Männer, die ihr Leben gewagt haben und dahin gegangen sind? Und wollte es nicht trinken. Das taten die drei Helden.

and saith, `Far be it from me, O Jehovah, to do this; is it the blood of the men who are going with their lives?' and he was not willing to drink it; these did the three mighty ones.

18 A bisai, Joabs Bruder, der Zeruja Sohn, war auch ein Vornehmster unter den Rittern: er hob seinen Spieß auf und schlug dreihundert, und war auch berühmt unter dreien

And Abishai brother of Joab, son of Zeruiah, he head of three, and he is lifting up his spear against three hundred -- wounded, and he hath a name among three.

19 u nd der Herrlichste unter dreien und war ihr Oberster; aber er kam nicht bis an jene drei.

Of the three is he not the honoured? and he becometh their head; and unto the three he hath not come.

20 U nd Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, des Sohnes Is-Hails, von großen Taten, von Kabzeel, der schlug zwei Helden der Moabiter und ging hinab und schlug einen Löwen im Brunnen zur Schneezeit.

And Benaiah son of Jehoiada (son of a man of valour, great in deeds from Kabzeel), he hath smitten two lion-like men of Moab, and he hath gone down and smitten the lion in the midst of the pit in a day of snow.

21 U nd schlug auch einen ägyptischen ansehnlichen Mann, der hatte einen Spieß in seiner Hand. Er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stecken und riß dem Ägypter den Spieß aus der Hand und erwürgte ihn mit seinem eigenen Spieß.

And he hath smitten the Egyptian man, a man of appearance, and in the hand of the Egyptian a spear, and he goeth down unto him with a rod, and taketh violently away the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slayeth him with his own spear.

22 D as tat Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, und war berühmt unter den drei Helden

These hath Benaiah son of Jehoiada done, and hath a name among three mighty.

23 u nd herrlicher denn die dreißig; aber er kam nicht bis an jene drei. Und David machte ihn zum heimlichen Rat.

Of the thirty he is honoured, and unto the three he came not; and David setteth him over his guard.

24 A sahel, der Bruder Joabs, war unter den dreißig; Elhanan, der Sohn Dodos, zu Bethlehem;

Asahel brother of Joab of the thirty; Elhanan son of Dodo of Beth-Lehem.
