1 A ber im siebenten Monat kam Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, des Sohnes Elisamas, aus königlichem Stamm, einer von den Obersten des Königs, und zehn Männer mit ihm zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, gen Mizpa und sie aßen daselbst zu Mizpa miteinander.

And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and they eat there bread together in Mizpah.

2 U nd Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, macht sich auf samt den zehn Männern, die bei ihm waren und schlugen Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, mit dem Schwert zu Tode, darum daß ihn der König zu Babel über das Land gesetzt hatte;

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah riseth, and the ten men who have been with him, and they smite Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he putteth him to death whom the king of Babylon hath appointed over the land.

3 d azu alle Juden, die bei Gedalja waren zu Mizpa, und die Chaldäer, die sie daselbst fanden, alle Kriegsleute, schlug Ismael.

And all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there -- the men of war -- hath Ishmael smitten.

4 D es andern Tages, nachdem Gedalja erschlagen war und es noch niemand wußte,

And it cometh to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death, (and no one hath known,)

5 k amen achtzig Männer von Sichem, von Silo und von Samaria und hatten die Bärte abgeschoren und ihre Kleider zerrissen und sich zerritzt und trugen Speisopfer und Weihrauch mit sich, daß sie es brächten zum Hause des HERRN.

that men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria -- eighty men -- with shaven beards, and rent garments, and cutting themselves, and an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring in to the house of Jehovah.

6 U nd Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, ging heraus von Mizpa ihnen entgegen, ging daher und weinte. Als er nun an sie kam, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr sollt zu Gedalja, dem Sohn Ahikams, kommen.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah goeth forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it cometh to pass, at meeting them, that he saith unto them, `Come in unto Gedaliah son of Ahikam.'

7 D a sie aber mitten in die Stadt kamen, ermordete sie Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, und die Männer, so bei ihm waren, und warf sie in den Brunnen.

And it cometh to pass, at their coming in unto the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah doth slaughter them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who with him.

8 A ber es waren zehn Männer darunter, die sprachen zu Ismael: Töte uns nicht; wir haben Vorrat im Acker liegen von Weizen, Gerste, Öl und Honig. Also ließ er ab und tötete sie nicht mit den andern.

And ten men have been found among them, and they say unto Ishmael, `Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field -- wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.' And he forbeareth, and hath not put them to death in the midst of their brethren.

9 D er Brunnen aber, darein Ismael die Leichname der Männer warf, welche er hatte erschlagen samt dem Gedalja, ist der, den der König Asa machen ließ wider Baesa, den König Israels; den füllte Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, mit den Erschlagenen.

And the pit whither Ishmael hath cast all the carcases of the men whom he hath smitten along with Gedaliah, is that which the king Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel -- it hath Ishmael son of Nethaniah filled with the pierced.

10 U nd was übriges Volk war zu Mizpa, auch die Königstöchter, führte Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, gefangen weg samt allem übrigen Volk zu Mizpa, über welche Nebusaradan, der Hauptmann, hatte gesetzt Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, und zog hin und wollte hinüber zu den Kindern Ammon.

And Ishmael taketh captive all the remnant of the people who in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, hath committed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah taketh them captive, and goeth to pass over unto the sons of Ammon.

11 D a aber Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, erfuhr und alle Hauptleute des Heeres, die bei ihm waren, all das Übel, das Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, begangen hatte,

And hear doth Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces that with him, of all the evil that Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath done,

12 n ahmen sie zu sich alle Männer und zogen hin, wider Ismael, den Sohn Nethanjas, zu streiten; und trafen ihn an dem großen Wasser bei Gibeon.

and they take all the men, and go to fight with Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and they find him at the great waters that in Gibeon.

13 D a nun alles Volk, so bei Ismael war, sah den Johanan, den Sohn Kareahs, und alle die Hauptleute des Heeres, die bei ihm waren, wurden sie froh.

And it cometh to pass, when all the people who with Ishmael see Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, that they rejoice.

14 U nd das ganze Volk, das Ismael hatte von Mizpa weggeführt, wandte sich um und kehrte wiederum zu Johanan, dem Sohne Kareahs.

And all the people whom Ishmael hath taken captive from Mizpah turn round, yea, they turn back, and go unto Johanan son of Kareah.

15 A ber Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, entrann dem Johanan mit acht Männern, und zog zu den Kindern Ammon.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah hath escaped, with eight men, from the presence of Johanan, and he goeth unto the sons of Ammon.

16 U nd Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, samt allen Hauptleuten des Heeres, so bei ihm waren, nahmen all das übrige Volk, so sie wiedergebracht hatten von Ismael, dem Sohn Nethanjas, aus Mizpa zu sich (weil Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, erschlagen war), nämlich die Kriegsmänner, Weiber und die Kinder und Kämmerer, so sie von Gibeon hatten wiedergebracht;

And Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who with him, take all the remnant of the people whom he hath brought back from Ishmael son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah -- after he had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam -- mighty ones, men of war, and women, and infants, and eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon,

17 u nd zogen hin und kehrten ein zur Herberge Chimhams, die bei Bethlehem war, und wollten nach Ägypten ziehen vor den Chaldäern.

and they go and abide in the habitations of Chimham, that near Beth-Lehem, to go to enter Egypt,

18 D enn sie fürchteten sich vor ihnen, weil Ismael, der Sohn Nethanjas, Gedalja, den Sohn Ahikams, erschlagen hatte, den der König zu Babel über das Land gesetzt hatte.

from the presence of the Chaldeans, for they have been afraid of them, for Ishmael son of Nethaniah had smitten Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.
