1 D a konnte sich Joseph nicht länger enthalten vor allen, die um ihn her standen, und er rief: Laßt jedermann von mir hinausgehen! Und kein Mensch stand bei ihm, da sich Joseph seinen Brüdern zu erkennen gab.

And Joseph hath not been able to refrain himself before all those standing by him, and he calleth, `Put out every man from me;' and no man hath stood with him when Joseph maketh himself known unto his brethren,

2 U nd er weinte laut, daß es die Ägypter und das Gesinde des Pharao hörten,

and he giveth forth his voice in weeping, and the Egyptians hear, and the house of Pharaoh heareth.

3 u nd sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Ich bin Joseph. Lebt mein Vater noch? und seine Brüder konnten ihm nicht antworten, so erschraken sie vor seinem Angesicht.

And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `I Joseph, is my father yet alive?' and his brethren have not been able to answer him, for they have been troubled at his presence.

4 E r aber sprach zu seinen Brüdern: Tretet doch her zu mir! Und sie traten herzu. Und er sprach: Ich bin Joseph euer Bruder, den ihr nach Ägypten verkauft habt.

And Joseph saith unto his brethren, `Come nigh unto me, I pray you,' and they come nigh; and he saith, `I Joseph, your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt;

5 U nd nun bekümmert euch nicht und denkt nicht, daß ich darum zürne, daß ihr mich hierher verkauft habt; denn um eures Lebens willen hat mich Gott vor euch her gesandt.

and now, be not grieved, nor let it be displeasing in your eyes that ye sold me hither, for to preserve life hath God sent me before you.

6 D enn dies sind zwei Jahre, daß es teuer im Lande ist; und sind noch fünf Jahre, daß kein Pflügen und Ernten sein wird.

`Because these two years the famine in the heart of the land, and yet five years, which there is neither ploughing nor harvest;

7 A ber Gott hat mich vor euch her gesandt, daß er euch übrig behalte auf Erden und euer Leben errette durch eine große Errettung.

and God sendeth me before you, to place of you a remnant in the land, and to give life to you by a great escape;

8 U nd nun, ihr habt mich nicht hergesandt, sondern Gott, der hat mich Pharao zum Vater gesetzt und zum Herrn über all sein Haus und zum Fürsten in ganz Ägyptenland.

and now, ye -- ye have not sent me hither, but God, and He doth set me for a father to Pharaoh, and for lord to all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

9 E ilet nun und zieht hinauf zu meinem Vater und sagt ihm: Das läßt dir Joseph, dein Sohn, sagen: Gott hat mich zum Herrn in ganz Ägypten gesetzt; komm herab zu mir, säume nicht;

`Haste, and go up unto my father, then ye have said to him, Thus said Joseph thy son, God hath set me for lord to all Egypt; come down unto me, stay not,

10 d u sollst im Lande Gosen wohnen und nahe bei mir sein, du und deine Kinder und deine Kindeskinder, dein kleines und dein großes Vieh und alles, was du hast.

and thou hast dwelt in the land of Goshen, and been near unto me, thou and thy sons, and thy son's sons, and thy flock, and thy herd, and all that thou hast,

11 I ch will dich daselbst versorgen; denn es sind noch fünf Jahre der Teuerung, auf daß du nicht verderbest mit deinem Hause und allem, was du hast.

and I have nourished thee there -- for yet five years of famine -- lest thou become poor, thou and thy household, and all that thou hast.

12 S iehe, eure Augen sehen und die Augen meines Bruders Benjamin, daß ich mündlich mit euch rede.

`And lo, your eyes are seeing, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that my mouth which is speaking unto you;

13 V erkündigt meinem Vater alle meine Herrlichkeit in Ägypten und alles, was ihr gesehen habt; eilt und kommt hernieder mit meinem Vater hierher.

and ye have declared to my father all my honour in Egypt, and all that ye have seen, and ye have hasted, and have brought down my father hither.'

14 U nd er fiel seinem Bruder Benjamin um den Hals und weinte; und Benjamin weinte auch an seinem Halse.

And he falleth on the neck of Benjamin his brother, and weepeth, and Benjamin hath wept on his neck;

15 U nd er küßte alle seine Brüder und weinte über ihnen. Darnach redeten seine Brüder mit ihm.

and he kisseth all his brethren, and weepeth over them; and afterwards have his brethren spoken with him.

16 U nd da das Gerücht kam in Pharaos Haus, daß Josephs Brüder gekommen wären, gefiel es Pharao wohl und allen seinen Knechten.

And the sound hath been heard in the house of Pharaoh, saying, `Come have the brethren of Joseph;' and it is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants,

17 U nd Pharao sprach zu Joseph: Sage deinen Brüdern: Tut also, beladet eure Tiere, zieht hin;

and Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `Say unto thy brethren, This do ye: lade your beasts, and go, enter ye the land of Canaan,

18 u nd wenn ihr kommt ins Land Kanaan, so nehmt euren Vater und alle die Euren und kommt zu mir; ich will euch Güter geben in Ägyptenland, daß ihr essen sollt das Mark im Lande;

and take your father, and your households, and come unto me, and I give to you the good of the land of Egypt, and eat ye the fat of the land.

19 u nd gebiete ihnen: Tut also, nehmet Wagen für eure Kinder und Weiber und führet euren Vater und kommt;

`Yea, thou -- thou hast been commanded: this do ye, take for yourselves out of the land of Egypt, waggons for your infants, and for your wives, and ye have brought your father, and come;

20 u nd sehet euren Hausrat nicht an; denn die Güter des ganzen Landes Ägypten sollen euer sein.

and your eye hath no pity on your vessels, for the good of all the land of Egypt yours.'

21 D ie Kinder Israels taten also. Und Joseph gab ihnen Wagen nach dem Befehl Pharaos und Zehrung auf den Weg

And the sons of Israel do so, and Joseph giveth waggons to them by the command of Pharaoh, and he giveth to them provision for the way;

22 u nd gab ihnen allen, einem jeglichem, ein Feierkleid; aber Benjamin gab er dreihundert Silberlinge und fünf Feierkleider.

to all of them hath he given -- to each changes of garments, and to Benjamin he hath given three hundred silverlings, and five changes of garments;

23 U nd seinem Vater sandte er dabei zehn Esel, mit Gut aus Ägypten beladen, und zehn Eselinnen mit Getreide und Brot und Speise seinem Vater auf den Weg.

and to his father he hath sent thus: ten asses bearing of the good things of Egypt, and ten she-asses bearing corn and bread, even food for his father for the way.

24 A lso ließ er seine Brüder von sich, und sie zogen hin; und er sprach zu ihnen: Zanket nicht auf dem Wege!

And he sendeth his brethren away, and they go; and he saith unto them, `Be not angry in the way.'

25 A lso zogen sie hinauf von Ägypten und kamen ins Land Kanaan zu ihrem Vater Jakob

And they go up out of Egypt, and come in to the land of Canaan, unto Jacob their father,

26 u nd verkündigten ihm und sprachen: Joseph lebt noch und ist Herr im ganzen Ägyptenland. Aber sein Herz dachte gar viel anders, denn er glaubte ihnen nicht.

and they declare to him, saying, `Joseph yet alive,' and that he ruler over all the land of Egypt; and his heart ceaseth, for he hath not given credence to them.

27 D a sagten sie ihm alle Worte Josephs, die er zu ihnen gesagt hatte. Und da er sah die Wagen, die ihm Joseph gesandt hatte, ihn zu führen, ward der Geist Jakobs, ihres Vaters, lebendig,

And they speak unto him all the words of Joseph, which he hath spoken unto them, and he seeth the waggons which Joseph hath sent to bear him away, and live doth the spirit of Jacob their father;

28 u nd Israel sprach: Ich habe genug, daß mein Sohn noch lebt; ich will hin und ihn sehen, ehe ich sterbe.

and Israel saith, `Enough! Joseph my son yet alive; I go and see him before I die.'
