As to sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel -- for he the first-born, and on account of his profaning the couch of his father hath his birthright been given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, and not to be reckoned by genealogy for the birthright,

2 d enn Juda, der mächtig war unter seinen Brüdern, dem ward das Fürstentum vor ihm gegeben, und Joseph die Erstgeburt).

for Judah hath been mighty over his brother, and for leader above him, and the birthright to Joseph.

3 S o sind nun die Kinder Rubens, des ersten Sohnes Israels: Henoch, Pallu, Hezron und Charmi.

Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

4 D ie Kinder aber Joels waren: Semaja; des Sohnes war Gog; des Sohnes war Simei;

Sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

5 d es Sohn war Micha; des Sohn war Reaja; des Sohn war Baal;

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

6 d es Sohn war Beera, welchen gefangen wegführte Thilgath-Pilneser, der König von Assyrien; er aber war ein Fürst unter den Rubenitern.

Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur removed; he prince of the Reubenite.

7 A ber seine Brüder unter seinen Geschlechtern, da sie nach ihrer Geburt aufgezeichnet wurden, waren: Jeiel, der Oberste, und Sacharja

And his brethren, by their families, in the genealogy of their generations, heads: Jeiel, and Zechariah,

8 u nd Bela, der Sohn des Asas, des Sohnes Semas, des Sohnes Joels; der wohnte zu Aroer und bis gen Nebo und Baal-Meon

and Bela son of Azaz, son of Shema, son of Joel -- he is dwelling in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-Meon;

9 u nd wohnte gegen Aufgang, bis man kommt an die Wüste am Wasser Euphrat; denn ihres Viehs war viel im Lande Gilead.

and at the east he dwelt even unto the entering in of the wilderness, even from the river Phrat, for their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

10 U nd zur Zeit Sauls führten sie Krieg wider die Hagariter, daß sie fielen durch ihre Hand, und wohnten in deren Hütten auf der ganzen Morgengrenze von Gilead.

And in the days of Saul they have made war with the Hagarites, who fall by their hand, and they dwell in their tents over all the face of the east of Gilead.

11 D ie Kinder Gads aber wohnten ihnen gegenüber im Lande Basan bis gen Salcha:

And the sons of Gad, over-against them have dwelt in the land of Bashan unto Salcah,

12 J oel, der Vornehmste, und Sapham, der andere, Jaenai und Saphat zu Basan.

Joel the head, and Shapham the second, and Jaanai and Shaphat in Bashan;

13 U nd ihre Brüder nach ihren Vaterhäusern waren: Michael, Mesullam, Seba, Jorai, Jaekan, Sia und Eber, die sieben.

and their brethren of the house of their fathers Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

14 D ies sind die Kinder Abihails, des Sohnes Huris, des Sohnes Jaroahs, des Sohnes Gileads, des Sohnes Michaels, des Sohnes Jesisais, des Sohnes Jahdos, des Sohnes Bus.

These sons of Abihail son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jeshishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz;

15 A hi, der Sohn Abdiels, des Sohnes Gunis, war ein Oberster in ihren Vaterhäusern,

Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, head of the house of their fathers;

16 u nd sie wohnten zu Gilead in Basan und in seinen Ortschaften und in allen Fluren Sarons bis an ihre Enden.

and they dwell in Gilead in Bashan, and in her small towns, and in all suburbs of Sharon, upon their outskirts;

17 D iese wurden alle aufgezeichnet zur Zeit Jothams, des König in Juda, und Jerobeams, des Königs über Israel.

all of them reckoned themselves by genealogy in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

18 D er Kinder Ruben, der Gaditer und des halben Stammes Manasse, was streitbare Männer waren, die Schild und Schwert führen und Bogen spannen konnten und streitkundig waren, deren waren vierundvierzigtausend und siebenhundertundsechzig die ins Heer zogen.

Sons of Reuben, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, of sons of valour, men bearing shield and sword, and treading bow, and taught in battle, forty and four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, going out to the host.

19 U nd sie stritten mit den Hagaritern und mit Jetur, Naphis und Nodab;

And they make war with the Hagarites, and Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab,

20 u nd es ward ihnen geholfen wider sie, und die Hagariter wurden gegeben in ihre Hände und alle, die mit ihnen waren. Denn sie schrieen zu Gott im Streit, und er ließ sich erbitten; denn sie vertrauten ihm.

and they are helped against them, and the Hagarites are given into their hand, and all who with them, for they cried to God in battle, and He was entreated of them, because they trusted in Him.

21 U nd sie führten weg ihr Vieh, fünftausend Kamele, zweihundertfünfzigtausend Schafe, zweitausend Esel, und hunderttausend Menschenseelen.

And they take captive their cattle, of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of human beings a hundred thousand;

22 D enn es fielen viele Verwundete; denn der Streit war von Gott. Und sie wohnten an ihrer Statt bis zur Zeit, da sie gefangen weggeführt wurden.

for many have fallen pierced, for of God the battle; and they dwell in their stead till the removal.

23 D ie Kinder aber des halben Stammes Manasse wohnten im Lande von Basan an bis gen Baal-Hermon und Senir und den Berg Hermon; und ihrer waren viel.

And the sons of the half of the tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan unto Baal-Hermon, and Senir, and mount Hermon, they have multiplied.

24 U nd diese waren die Häupter ihrer Vaterhäuser: Epher, Jesei, Eliel, Asriel, Jeremia, Hodavja, Jahdiel, gewaltige Männer und berühmte Häupter in ihren Vaterhäusern.

And these heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, men mighty in valour, men of name, heads to the house of their fathers.

25 U nd da sie sich an dem Gott ihrer Väter versündigten und abfielen zu den Götzen der Völker im Lande, die Gott vor ihnen vertilgt hatte,

And they trespass against the God of their fathers, and go a-whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land whom God destroyed from their presence;

26 e rweckte der Gott Israels den Geist Phuls, des Königs von Assyrien, und den Geist Thilgath-Pilnesers, des Königs von Assyrien; der führte weg die Rubeniter, Gaditer und den halben Stamm Manasse und brachte sie gen Halah und an den Habor und gen Hara und an das Wasser Gosan bis auf diesen Tag.

and stir up doth the God of Israel the spirit of Pul king of Asshur, and the spirit of Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur, and he removeth them -- even the Reubenite, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh -- and bringeth them in to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan unto this day.
