As to sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel -- for he the first-born, and on account of his profaning the couch of his father hath his birthright been given to the sons of Joseph son of Israel, and not to be reckoned by genealogy for the birthright,

for Judah hath been mighty over his brother, and for leader above him, and the birthright to Joseph.

Sons of Reuben, first-born of Israel: Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

4 U rmaşii lui Ioel au fost: fiul său, Şemaia; fiul acestuia, Gog, fiul acestuia, Şimei;

Sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

5 f iul acestuia, Mica; fiul acestuia, Reaia; fiul acestuia, Baal;

Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,

6 f iul acestuia, Beera, pe care Tiglat-Pileser l-a dus în captivitate. El fusese conducătorul rubeniţilor.

Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur removed; he prince of the Reubenite.

7 R udele lui, potrivit clanurilor lor, aşa cum sunt înscrise în genealogiile lor, au fost: căpetenia Ieiel, Zaharia

And his brethren, by their families, in the genealogy of their generations, heads: Jeiel, and Zechariah,

and Bela son of Azaz, son of Shema, son of Joel -- he is dwelling in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baal-Meon;

9 L a răsărit se întindea până la intrarea în pustie, până la râul Eufrat, căci turmele lor se înmulţiseră în Ghilad.

and at the east he dwelt even unto the entering in of the wilderness, even from the river Phrat, for their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

10 P e vremea lui Saul, ei au început războiul împotriva hagriţilor, care au căzut în mâinile lor. Apoi au ocupat teritoriul lor de la răsărit de Ghilad. Urmaşii lui Gad

And in the days of Saul they have made war with the Hagarites, who fall by their hand, and they dwell in their tents over all the face of the east of Gilead.

11 U rmaşii lui Gad au locuit în vecinătatea rubeniţilor, în Başan, având teritoriul până la Salca.

And the sons of Gad, over-against them have dwelt in the land of Bashan unto Salcah,

12 I oel era căpetenia, Şafam era al doilea în rang, iar Ianai era judecător în Başan.

Joel the head, and Shapham the second, and Jaanai and Shaphat in Bashan;

13 R udele lor, potrivit familiilor lor, au fost: Mihail, Meşulam, Şeba, Iorai, Iacan, Zia şi Eber – în total şapte.

and their brethren of the house of their fathers Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

14 A ceştia au fost fiii lui Abihail, fiul lui Huri, fiul lui Iaroah, fiul lui Ghilad, fiul lui Mihail, fiul lui Ieşişai, fiul lui Iahdo, fiul lui Buz.

These sons of Abihail son of Huri, son of Jaroah, son of Gilead, son of Michael, son of Jeshishai, son of Jahdo, son of Buz;

15 A hi, fiul lui Abdiel, fiul lui Guni, a fost conducătorul familiilor lor.

Ahi son of Abdiel, son of Guni, head of the house of their fathers;

16 E i au locuit în Ghilad, în Başan şi în satele dimprejurul lui, precum şi pe toată întinderea păşunilor Şaronului, până la marginile lor.

and they dwell in Gilead in Bashan, and in her small towns, and in all suburbs of Sharon, upon their outskirts;

17 C u toţii au fost trecuţi în genealogii, încă de pe vremea lui Iotam, regele lui Iuda, şi a lui Ieroboam, regele lui Israel.

all of them reckoned themselves by genealogy in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

18 R ubeniţii, gadiţii şi jumătate din seminţia lui Manase aveau războinici care purtau scutul şi sabia, care mânuiau arcul şi erau deprinşi cu războiul, toţi fiind în număr de patruzeci şi patru de mii şapte sute şaizeci şi în stare să meargă la război.

Sons of Reuben, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, of sons of valour, men bearing shield and sword, and treading bow, and taught in battle, forty and four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, going out to the host.

19 E i au început războiul împotriva hagriţilor şi împotriva lui Ietur, a lui Nafiş şi a lui Nodab.

And they make war with the Hagarites, and Jetur, and Naphish, and Nodab,

20 I sraeliţii au primit ajutor în lupta împotriva lor şi li s-a dat biruinţa împotriva hagriţilor şi a tuturor aliaţilor lor, pentru că, în luptă, ei au strigat către Dumnezeu. El le-a răspuns fiindcă s-au încrezut în El.

and they are helped against them, and the Hagarites are given into their hand, and all who with them, for they cried to God in battle, and He was entreated of them, because they trusted in Him.

21 A u luat de la ei ca pradă cincizeci de mii de vite şi cămile, două sute cincizeci de mii de oi şi capre, două mii de măgari şi o sută de mii de oameni.

And they take captive their cattle, of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of human beings a hundred thousand;

22 M ulţi au căzut ucişi, căci lupta venea de la Dumnezeu. Apoi ei au locuit în ţinutul acestora până la exil. Familiile lui Manase din Başan

for many have fallen pierced, for of God the battle; and they dwell in their stead till the removal.

23 U rmaşii jumătăţii seminţiei lui Manase au locuit în ţară, din Başan până la Baal-Hermon, la Senir şi la muntele Hermon; ei erau mulţi la număr.

And the sons of the half of the tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land, from Bashan unto Baal-Hermon, and Senir, and mount Hermon, they have multiplied.

24 C ăpeteniile familiilor lor au fost: Efer, Işi, Eliel, Azriel, Ieremia, Hodavia şi Iahdiel; ei au fost viteji, războinici cu renume, căpetenii ale familiilor lor.

And these heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, men mighty in valour, men of name, heads to the house of their fathers.

25 D ar ei au păcătuit împotriva Dumnezeului părinţilor lor, prostituându-se înaintea zeilor popoarelor din ţară, pe care Dumnezeu le nimicise dinaintea lor.

And they trespass against the God of their fathers, and go a-whoring after the gods of the peoples of the land whom God destroyed from their presence;

26 D umnezeul lui Israel a stârnit duhul lui Pul, împăratul Asiriei (adică duhul lui Tilgat-Pileser, împăratul Asiriei), şi acesta i-a dus în captivitate pe rubeniţi, pe gadiţi şi pe jumătatea seminţiei lui Manase. El i-a adus la Halah, la Habor, la Hara şi la râul Gozan, unde au rămas până în ziua de azi.

and stir up doth the God of Israel the spirit of Pul king of Asshur, and the spirit of Tilgath-Pilneser king of Asshur, and he removeth them -- even the Reubenite, and the Gadite, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh -- and bringeth them in to Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and the river of Gozan unto this day.
