1 A zaria, fiul lui Oded, peste care era Duhul lui Dumnezeu,

And upon Azariah son of Oded hath been the Spirit of God,

2 a ieşit în întâmpinarea lui Asa şi i-a zis: „Asa, tot Iuda şi Beniamin, ascultaţi-mă! Domnul este cu voi atunci când şi voi sunteţi cu El. Dacă-L veţi căuta, El Se va lăsa găsit de voi, dar dacă-L părăsiţi şi El vă va părăsi.

and he goeth out before Asa, and saith to him, `Hear, me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; Jehovah with you -- in your being with Him, and if ye seek Him, He is found of you, and if ye forsake Him, He forsaketh you;

3 M ulte zile Israel a fost fără Dumnezeul adevărat, fără preot care să-l înveţe şi fără Lege.

and many days to Israel without a true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law,

4 A tunci, în strâmtorarea lor, s-au întors la Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, L-au căutat şi El S-a lăsat găsit.

and it turneth back in its distress unto Jehovah, God of Israel, and they seek Him, and He is found of them,

5 Î n vremurile acelea, nu era pace nici la plecare nici la sosire, căci erau tulburări printre toţi locuitorii ţărilor.

and in those times there is no peace to him who is going out, and to him who is coming in, for many troubles on all the inhabitants of the lands,

6 U n neam era zdrobit de un alt neam şi o cetate de o altă cetate, căci Dumnezeu îi tulbura cu tot felul de necazuri.

and they have been beaten down, nation by nation, and city by city, for God hath troubled them with every adversity;

7 V oi însă fiţi tari şi nu vă odihniţi mâinile, căci există o răsplată pentru munca voastră.“

and ye, be ye strong, and let not your hands be feeble, for there is a reward for your work.'

8 C ând a auzit aceste cuvinte şi această profeţie a lui Azaria, fiul profetului Oded, Asa s-a îmbărbătat şi a îndepărtat urâciunile din toată ţara lui Iuda, a lui Beniamin şi din cetăţile pe care le cuceriseră în regiunea muntoasă a lui Efraim. El a înnoit altarul Domnului care se afla înaintea porticului de la Casa Domnului.

And at Asa's hearing these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he hath strengthened himself, and doth cause the abominations to pass away out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities that he hath captured from the hill-country of Ephraim, and reneweth the altar of Jehovah that before the porch of Jehovah,

9 I -a adunat pe toţi cei din Iuda şi din Beniamin, precum şi pe străinii care erau printre ei, veniţi din Efraim, din Manase şi din Simeon, căci mulţi din Israel i se alăturaseră când au văzut că Domnul, Dumnezeul lui, este cu el.

and gathereth all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and out of Simeon -- for they have fallen unto him from Israel in abundance, in their seeing that Jehovah his God with him.

10 S -au strâns cu toţii la Ierusalim, în luna a treia a celui de-al cincisprezecelea an al domniei lui Asa.

And they are gathered to Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa,

11 Î n ziua aceea au jertfit Domnului din prada pe care o aduseseră – şapte sute de boi şi şapte mii de oi.

and sacrifice to Jehovah on that day from the spoil they have brought in -- oxen seven hundred, and sheep seven thousand,

12 E i au încheiat un legământ potrivit căruia Îl vor căuta pe Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşilor lor, din toată inima şi din tot sufletul lor.

and they enter into a covenant to seek Jehovah, God of their fathers, with all their heart, and with all their soul,

13 O ricine nu-L căuta pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, trebuia să fie omorât, fie că era mic sau mare, bărbat sau femeie.

and every one who doth not seek for Jehovah, God of Israel, is put to death, from small unto great, from man unto woman.

14 A u făcut un jurământ Domnului cu glas tare, cu strigăte de bucurie şi în sunet de trâmbiţă şi de corn.

And they swear to Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets,

15 T oţi cei din Iuda s-au bucurat de jurământul acesta, căci juraseră din toată inima lor. Ei L-au căutat pe Domnul cu toată pasiunea, iar El S-a lăsat găsit de ei. Şi Domnul le-a dat odihnă de jur împrejur.

and rejoice do all Judah concerning the oath, for with all their heart they have sworn, and with all their good-will they have sought Him, and He is found of them, and Jehovah giveth rest to them round about.

16 D e asemenea, regele Asa n-a mai lăsat-o nici chiar pe bunica sa, Maaca, să fie regină, pentru că aceasta făcuse un idol hidos al Aşerei. Asa i-a tăiat idolul hidos, l-a sfărâmat şi l-a ars lângă uedul Chidron.

And also Maachah, mother of Asa the king -- he hath removed her from mistress, in that she hath made for a shrine a horrible thing, and Asa cutteth down her horrible thing, and beateth small, and burneth by the brook Kidron:

17 D ar înălţimile nu au fost îndepărtate din Israel, deşi inima lui Asa a fost devotată Domnului în tot timpul vieţii lui.

yet the high places have not turned aside from Israel; only, the heart of Asa hath been perfect all his days.

18 E l a adus în Casa lui Dumnezeu lucrurile pe care el şi tatăl său le închinaseră Domnului: argintul, aurul şi vasele.

And he bringeth in the sanctified things of his father, and his own sanctified things, to the house of God, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 Ş i nu a mai avut loc nici un război până în al treizeci şi cincilea an al domniei lui Asa.

And war hath not been till the thirty and fifth year of the reign of Asa.
