1 Î n al nouălea an al domniei lui Zedechia, în a zecea zi a lunii a zecea, Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, a înaintat împotriva Ierusalimului cu toată oştirea sa. Ei şi-au aşezat tabăra înaintea cetăţii şi au zidit întărituri de jur împrejurul ei.

And it cometh to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come hath Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, he and all his force, against Jerusalem, and encampeth against it, and buildeth against it a fortification round about.

2 C etatea a fost în stare de asediu până în cel de-al unsprezecelea an al domniei regelui Zedechia.

And the city entereth into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah,

3 Î n ziua a noua a lunii a patra, foametea din cetate a devenit atât de mare, încât poporul ţării nu mai avea nimic de mâncare.

on the ninth of the month -- when the famine is severe in the city, and there hath not been bread for the people of the land,

4 A tunci s-a pătruns în cetate, astfel că toţi ostaşii au fugit noaptea pe poarta dintre cele două ziduri, de lângă grădina regelui, în timp ce caldeenii înconjurau cetatea. Ei au luat-o pe drumul spre Araba,

then the city is broken up, and all the men of war by night the way of the gate, between the two walls that by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans against the city round about, and goeth the way of the plain.

5 î nsă oştirea caldeenilor l-a urmărit pe rege şi l-a ajuns în câmpiile Ierihonului. Toată oştirea lui se împrăştiase de lângă el.

And the force of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake him in the plains of Jericho, and all his force have been scattered from him;

6 E i l-au capturat pe rege şi l-au dus la împăratul Babilonului, la Ribla, unde a fost rostită o sentinţă împotriva lui.

and they seize the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon, to Riblah, and they speak with him -- judgment.

7 E i i-au înjunghiat pe fiii lui Zedechia înaintea ochilor lui. Apoi lui Zedechia i-au scos ochii, l-au legat cu lanţuri de bronz şi l-au dus în Babilon.

And the sons of Zedekiah they have slaughtered before his eyes, and the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and bindeth him with brazen fetters, and they bring him to Babylon.

8 Î n ziua a şaptea a lunii a cincea, în al nouăsprezecelea an al domniei împăratului Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, Nebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, un slujitor al împăratului Babilonului, a pătruns în Ierusalim.

And in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month (it the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners, servant of the king of Babylon, come to Jerusalem,

9 E l a dat foc Casei Domnului, palatului regelui şi tuturor caselor din Ierusalim. El a dat foc tuturor caselor mari.

and he burneth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, yea, every great house he hath burned with fire;

10 T oată oştirea caldeenilor care era împreună cu căpetenia gărzilor, a dărâmat zidurile din jurul Ierusalimului.

and the walls of Jerusalem round about have all the forces of the Chaldeans, who with the chief of the executioners, broken down.

11 N ebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, a dus în captivitate poporul care mai rămăsese în cetate, dezertorii care fugiseră la împăratul Babilonului şi restul mulţimii.

And the rest of the people, those left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude, hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners removed;

12 T otuşi căpetenia gărzilor a lăsat în ţară câţiva oameni săraci ca să lucreze viile şi câmpurile.

and of the poor of the land hath the chief of the executioners left for vine-dressers and for husbandmen.

13 C aldeenii au sfărâmat stâlpii de bronz care erau în Casa Domnului, precum şi piedestalele şi „marea“ din bronz care erau în Casa Domnului şi au dus bronzul la Babilon.

And the pillars of brass that in the house of Jehovah, and the bases, and the sea of brass, that in the house of Jehovah, have the Chaldeans broken in pieces, and bear away their brass to Babylon.

14 A u luat vasele, lopeţile, mucarniţele, farfuriile şi toate uneltele de bronz cu care se făcea slujba.

And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they minister they have taken,

15 C ăpetenia gărzilor a mai luat cădelniţele şi cupele – tot ce era de aur sau de argint.

and the fire-pans, and the bowls that wholly of silver, hath the chief of the executioners taken.

16 C ei doi stâlpi, „marea“ şi piedestalele, toate aceste unelte de bronz pe care le făcuse Solomon pentru Casa Domnului, aveau o greutate care nu se putea cântări.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases that Solomon made for the house of Jehovah, there was no weighing of the brass of all these vessels;

17 F iecare stâlp era înalt de optsprezece coţi şi avea deasupra un capitel de bronz. Înălţimea capitelului era de trei coţi, capitelul având de jur împrejur o reţea şi rodii, toate din bronz. Al doilea stâlp, cu reţeaua lui, era la fel.

eighteen cubits the height of the one pillar, and the chapiter on it of brass, and the height of the chapiter three cubits, and the net and the pomegranates on the chapiter round about -- the whole of brass; and like these hath the second pillar, with the net.

18 C ăpetenia gărzilor i-a luat prizonieri pe Seraia, preotul conducător, pe Ţefania, următorul preot în rang şi pe cei trei paznici ai porţii.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,

19 D in cetate a luat un ofiţer care avea în subordine ostaşi şi încă cinci oameni dintre sfetnicii regelui, care, de asemenea, fuseseră găsiţi în cetate; l-a mai luat pe scribul conducătorului oştirii, care recruta bărbaţi din poporul ţării şi pe încă şaizeci de bărbaţi din poporul ţării, care fuseseră găsiţi tot în cetate.

and out of the city he hath taken a certain eunuch who is appointed over the men of war, and five men of those seeing the king's face who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who mustereth the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who are found in the city,

20 N ebuzaradan, căpetenia gărzilor, i-a luat şi i-a dus la împăratul Babilonului, la Ribla.

and Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners taketh them, and causeth them to go unto the king of Babylon, to Libnah,

21 A colo, la Ribla, în ţara Hamat, împăratul Babilonului a pus să fie omorâţi. Astfel a fost dus Iuda în captivitate, departe de ţara lui. Guvernarea lui Ghedalia peste Iuda

and the king of Babylon smiteth them, and putteth them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removeth Judah from off its land.

22 N ebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, l-a pus conducător peste poporul rămas în ţara lui Iuda, – pe care el îl lăsase acolo –, pe Ghedalia, fiul lui Ahikam, fiul lui Şafan.

And the people that is left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath left -- he appointeth over them Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan.

23 C ând toţi conducătorii oştirii şi oamenii lor au auzit că împăratul Babilonului l-a pus pe Ghedalia să conducă, au venit împreună cu oamenii lor la Ghedalia, în Miţpa. Aceştia erau: Ismael, fiul lui Netania, Iohanan, fiul lui Kareah, Seraia, fiul netofatitului Tanhumet şi Iaazania, fiul unui maacatit.

And all the heads of the forces hear -- they and the men -- that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah, and they come in unto Gedaliah, to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maachathite -- they and their men;

24 G hedalia le-a jurat lor şi oamenilor lor astfel: „Nu vă temeţi de slujitorii caldeenilor! Rămâneţi în ţară, slujiţi împăratului Babilonului şi vă va fi bine!“

and Gedaliah sweareth to them, and to their men, and saith to them, `Be not afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans, dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it is good for you.'

25 D ar în luna a şaptea, Ismael, fiul lui Netania, fiul lui Elişama, care era din familia regală, a venit împreună cu zece oameni şi l-a ucis pe Ghedalia. Ei i-au ucis, de asemenea, şi pe iudeii şi pe caldeenii care erau cu el la Miţpa.

And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nathaniah, son of Elishama of the seed of the kingdom, and ten men with him, and they smite Gedaliah, and he dieth, and the Jews and the Chaldeans who have been with him in Mizpah.

26 A tunci tot poporul, de la mic la mare, şi conducătorii oştirii au fugit în Egipt, pentru că se temeau de caldeeni. Eliberarea lui Iehoiachin din temniţă

And all the people rise, from small even unto great, and the heads of the forces, and come in to Egypt, for they have been afraid of the presence of the Chaldeans.

27 Î n al treizeci şi şaptelea an de captivitate a lui Iehoiachin, regele lui Iuda, în a douăzeci şi şaptea zi a lunii a douăsprezecea, Evil-Merodak, împăratul Babilonului, în cel dintâi an al domniei lui, l-a eliberat din temniţă pe Iehoiachin, regele lui Iuda.

And it cometh to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and seventh of the month hath Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reigning, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, out of the house of restraint,

28 I -a vorbit cu bunătate şi i-a dat un loc de cinste mai presus decât cel al regilor care erau cu el în Babilon.

and speaketh with him good things and putteth his throne above the throne of the kings who with him in Babylon,

29 I ehoiachin şi-a schimbat hainele de întemniţat şi pentru tot restul vieţii sale a mâncat la masa împăratului.

and hath changed the garments of his restraint, and he hath eaten bread continually before him all days of his life,

30 Î mpăratul s-a îngrijit necurmat de hrana zilnică a lui Iehoiachin, în toate zilele vieţii lui.

and his allowance -- a continual allowance -- hath been given to him from the king, the matter of a day in its day, all days of his life.
