1 S edequías se rebeló contra el rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia, y Nabucodonosor vino con todo su ejército y atacó a Jerusalén y la sitió, y levantó torres de asalto a su alrededor. Era el día diez del mes décimo del noveno año del reinado de Sedequías,

And it cometh to pass, in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth of the month, come hath Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, he and all his force, against Jerusalem, and encampeth against it, and buildeth against it a fortification round about.

2 y la ciudad estuvo sitiada hasta el año undécimo de su reinado.

And the city entereth into siege till the eleventh year of king Zedekiah,

3 A los nueve días del cuarto mes el hambre en la ciudad se agravó, al grado de que la gente del país no tenía nada que comer.

on the ninth of the month -- when the famine is severe in the city, and there hath not been bread for the people of the land,

4 C omo ya se había abierto una brecha en la muralla de la ciudad, todos los hombres de guerra huyeron durante la noche; salieron por el camino de la puerta que estaba entre los dos muros, junto a los huertos del rey, a pesar de que los caldeos rodeaban la ciudad; el rey se fue por el camino del Arabá.

then the city is broken up, and all the men of war by night the way of the gate, between the two walls that by the garden of the king, and the Chaldeans against the city round about, and goeth the way of the plain.

5 P ero el ejército caldeo siguió al rey, y lo apresó en las llanuras de Jericó, después de que todo su ejército había sido dispersado.

And the force of the Chaldeans pursue after the king, and overtake him in the plains of Jericho, and all his force have been scattered from him;

6 A presado el rey, lo llevaron ante el rey de Babilonia en Ribla, y dictaron sentencia contra él.

and they seize the king, and bring him up unto the king of Babylon, to Riblah, and they speak with him -- judgment.

7 A los hijos de Sedequías los degollaron en presencia de Sedequías, y a éste le sacaron los ojos, y encadenado lo llevaron a Babilonia. Cautiverio de Judá

And the sons of Zedekiah they have slaughtered before his eyes, and the eyes of Zedekiah he hath blinded, and bindeth him with brazen fetters, and they bring him to Babylon.

8 E l día siete del mes quinto del año diecinueve del rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia, llegó a Jerusalén Nabuzaradán, que era capitán de la guardia y oficial del rey de Babilonia.

And in the fifth month, on the seventh of the month (it the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners, servant of the king of Babylon, come to Jerusalem,

9 Y Nabuzaradán les prendió fuego al templo del Señor y al palacio real, y a todas las casas de Jerusalén y a todos los palacios de los príncipes.

and he burneth the house of Jehovah, and the house of the king, and all the houses of Jerusalem, yea, every great house he hath burned with fire;

10 T odo el ejército de los caldeos, que estaba con el capitán de la guardia, se dedicó a derribar las murallas que rodeaban a Jerusalén.

and the walls of Jerusalem round about have all the forces of the Chaldeans, who with the chief of the executioners, broken down.

11 L uego, Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, se llevó cautivos a los del pueblo que habían quedado en la ciudad, a los que se habían pasado al bando del rey de Babilonia, y a los que se habían quedado de la gente común.

And the rest of the people, those left in the city, and those falling who have fallen to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude, hath Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners removed;

12 A los pobres del país los dejó Nabuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, para que labraran las viñas y el campo.

and of the poor of the land hath the chief of the executioners left for vine-dressers and for husbandmen.

13 L os caldeos derribaron las columnas de bronce y las bases, y el mar de bronce, que estaban en el templo del Señor, y se llevaron el bronce a Babilonia.

And the pillars of brass that in the house of Jehovah, and the bases, and the sea of brass, that in the house of Jehovah, have the Chaldeans broken in pieces, and bear away their brass to Babylon.

14 S e llevaron también las paletas, las despabiladeras, los cucharones, y todos los utensilios de bronce con que ministraban:

And the pots, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they minister they have taken,

15 i ncensarios, cuencos, en fin, todo lo que era de oro y todo lo que era de plata. Todo eso se lo llevó el capitán de la guardia.

and the fire-pans, and the bowls that wholly of silver, hath the chief of the executioners taken.

16 S e llevó las dos columnas, un mar, y las bases que Salomón había hecho para el templo del Señor. No fue posible pesar todo esto.

The two pillars, the one sea, and the bases that Solomon made for the house of Jehovah, there was no weighing of the brass of all these vessels;

17 L a altura de una columna era de dieciocho codos, y tenía encima un capitel de bronce; la altura del capitel era de tres codos, y sobre el capitel había una red y granadas alrededor. Todo era de bronce, y la otra columna con su red estaba hecha de la misma manera.

eighteen cubits the height of the one pillar, and the chapiter on it of brass, and the height of the chapiter three cubits, and the net and the pomegranates on the chapiter round about -- the whole of brass; and like these hath the second pillar, with the net.

18 E l capitán de la guardia capturó luego al primer sacerdote Seraías, al segundo sacerdote Sofonías, y a tres guardas de la vajilla.

And the chief of the executioners taketh Seraiah the head priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the threshold,

19 D e la ciudad capturó a un oficial que estaba al mando de los hombres de guerra, y a cinco de los consejeros del rey, que estaban en la ciudad; al principal escriba del ejército, que llevaba el registro de la gente del país, y a sesenta varones del pueblo que se encontraban en la ciudad.

and out of the city he hath taken a certain eunuch who is appointed over the men of war, and five men of those seeing the king's face who have been found in the city, and the head scribe of the host, who mustereth the people of the land, and sixty men of the people of the land who are found in the city,

20 N abuzaradán, capitán de la guardia, los capturó y los llevó al rey de Babilonia, que estaba en Ribla.

and Nebuzaradan chief of the executioners taketh them, and causeth them to go unto the king of Babylon, to Libnah,

21 A llí en Ribla, en tierra de Jamat, el rey de Babilonia los hirió de muerte y les quitó la vida. Así es como Judá fue desterrado y llevado cautivo. Los sobrevivientes huyen a Egipto

and the king of Babylon smiteth them, and putteth them to death in Riblah, in the land of Hamath, and he removeth Judah from off its land.

22 A l pueblo que el rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia dejó en la tierra de Judá, lo puso bajo el gobierno de Gedalías, el hijo de Ajicán y nieto de Safán.

And the people that is left in the land of Judah whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon hath left -- he appointeth over them Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan.

23 Y cuando todos los príncipes del ejército y su gente supieron que el rey de Babilonia había puesto por gobernador a Gedalías, fueron a verlo en Mispá. Eran Ismael hijo de Netanías, Johanán hijo de Careaj, Seraías hijo de Tanjumet, el netofatita, y Jazanías, el hijo de un macatita, más su gente.

And all the heads of the forces hear -- they and the men -- that the king of Babylon hath appointed Gedaliah, and they come in unto Gedaliah, to Mizpah, even Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and Johanan son of Kareah, and Seraiah son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah son of the Maachathite -- they and their men;

24 E ntonces Gedalías les hizo un juramento a todos ellos, y les dijo: «No tengan ningún temor de servir a los caldeos. Habiten el país, y sirvan al rey de Babilonia, y les irá bien».

and Gedaliah sweareth to them, and to their men, and saith to them, `Be not afraid of the servants of the Chaldeans, dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it is good for you.'

25 P ero en el mes séptimo Ismael, que era hijo de Netanías y nieto de Elisama, de la estirpe real, y otros diez hombres, fueron e hirieron de muerte a Gedalías, y con él a los de Judá y a los caldeos que estaban con él en Mispá.

And it cometh to pass, in the seventh month, come hath Ishmael son of Nathaniah, son of Elishama of the seed of the kingdom, and ten men with him, and they smite Gedaliah, and he dieth, and the Jews and the Chaldeans who have been with him in Mizpah.

26 E ntonces todos los del pueblo, desde el menor hasta el mayor, se levantaron y se fueron a Egipto, junto con los capitanes del ejército, por temor a los caldeos. Joaquín es liberado y homenajeado en Babilonia

And all the people rise, from small even unto great, and the heads of the forces, and come in to Egypt, for they have been afraid of the presence of the Chaldeans.

27 E l día veintisiete del mes duodécimo del año treinta y siete del cautiverio del rey Joaquín de Judá, el rey Evil Merodac de Babilonia, puso en libertad al rey Joaquín de Judá y lo sacó de la cárcel. Era el primer año de su reinado.

And it cometh to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and seventh of the month hath Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reigning, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, out of the house of restraint,

28 L e habló a Joaquín con mucha bondad, y puso su trono por encima de los tronos de los otros reyes que estaban con él en Babilonia.

and speaketh with him good things and putteth his throne above the throne of the kings who with him in Babylon,

29 L e cambió sus harapos de prisionero, y lo sentó a su mesa por el resto de sus días.

and hath changed the garments of his restraint, and he hath eaten bread continually before him all days of his life,

30 A demás, todos los días Joaquín recibía de parte del rey una pensión, y esto se hizo así todos los días de su vida.

and his allowance -- a continual allowance -- hath been given to him from the king, the matter of a day in its day, all days of his life.
