1 P rofecía acerca del valle de la visión. ¿Qué te pasa, que has subido a las azoteas con todos los tuyos?

The burden of the Valley of Vision. What -- to thee, now, that thou hast gone up, All of thee -- to the roofs?

2 T ú, ciudad turbulenta y alegre, llena de alborotos: tus muertos no murieron a filo de espada, ni cayeron en batalla.

Full of stirs -- a noisy city -- an exulting city, Thy pierced are not pierced of the sword, Nor dead in battle.

3 T odos tus príncipes huyeron juntos de las flechas; todos los que estaban dentro de ti fueron atados en grupo cuando intentaban huir.

All thy rulers fled together from the bow, Bound have been all found of thee, They have been kept bound together, Afar off they have fled.

4 P or eso pido que me dejen llorar amargamente; no traten de consolarme por la destrucción de la hija de mi pueblo.

Therefore I said, `Look ye from me, I am bitter in my weeping, Haste not to comfort me, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.'

5 P orque éste es un día de alboroto, de angustia y de confusión, de parte de Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos. En el valle de la visión se derriban muros, y se oye clamor por los montes.

For a day of noise, and of treading down, And of perplexity, to the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In the valley of vision, digging down a wall, And crying unto the mountain.

6 E lam tomó la aljaba, y carros y jinetes; Quir preparó el escudo.

And Elam hath borne a quiver, In a chariot of men -- horsemen, And Kir hath exposed a shield.

7 T us hermosos valles se llenaron de carros, y gente de a caballo acampó a la entrada de la ciudad.

And it cometh to pass, The choice of thy valleys have been full of chariots, And the horsemen place themselves diligently at the gate.

8 L as defensas de Judá quedaron al descubierto. Ese día ustedes dirigían la mirada hacia el arsenal en la casa del bosque,

And one removeth the covering of Judah, And thou lookest in that day Unto the armour of the house of the forest,

9 y vieron multiplicarse las brechas en la ciudad de David; recogieron las aguas del estanque inferior,

And the breaches of the city of David ye have seen, For they have become many, And ye gather the waters of the lower pool,

10 c ontaron las casas de Jerusalén y las derribaron para reforzar la muralla;

And the houses of Jerusalem ye did number, And ye break down the houses to fence the wall.

11 h icieron un foso entre los dos muros para el agua del estanque viejo, pero sin la menor consideración para el que lo hizo y le dio forma.

And a ditch ye made between the two walls, For the waters of the old pool, And ye have not looked unto its Maker, And its Framer of old ye have not seen.

12 E se día Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos, los convocó al llanto y al lamento, a raparse el cabello y a vestirse de cilicio;

And call doth the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, In that day, to weeping and to lamentation, And to baldness and to girding on of sackcloth,

13 p ero ustedes prefirieron gozar y divertirse, matar vacas y degollar ovejas, comer carne y beber vino. Y decían: «Comamos y bebamos, que mañana moriremos.»

And lo, joy and gladness, slaying of oxen, And slaughtering of sheep, Eating of flesh, and drinking of wine, Eat and drink, for to-morrow we die.

14 P or su parte, el Señor de los ejércitos me dijo al oído: «Este pecado no les será perdonado, hasta que hayan muerto.» Lo ha dicho Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos. Fin de Sebna y promesa a Eliaquín

And revealed it hath been in mine ears, Jehovah of Hosts: Not pardoned is this iniquity to you, Till ye die, said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts.

15 A sí dice Dios, el Señor de los ejércitos: «Ve a donde está ese tesorero, el mayordomo Sebna, y dile:

Thus said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts: `Go, enter in unto this steward, Unto Shebna, who over the house:

16 “ ¿Qué tienes tú aquí, o a quién tienes aquí, que te has labrado un sepulcro en lo alto? ¿Por qué esculpes para ti una casa en la roca?

What -- to thee here? And who -- to thee here? That thou hast hewn out to thee here -- a sepulchre? Hewing on high his sepulchre, Graving in a rock a dwelling for himself.

17 M ira que el Señor va a llevarte en duro cautiverio, y te cubrirá el rostro;

Lo, Jehovah is casting thee up and down, A casting up and down, O mighty one,

18 t e hará rodar con fuerza, como una rueda por el llano, y así morirás. ¡En eso acabarán tus espléndidos carros, tú que eres la vergüenza de la casa de tu amo!

And thy coverer covering, wrapping round, Wrappeth thee round, O babbler, On a land broad of sides -- there thou diest, And there the chariots of thine honour the shame of the house of thy lord.

19 ¡ Yo te arrojaré de tu puesto! ¡Yo te destituiré!

And I have thrust thee from thy station, And from thine office he throweth thee down.

20 Y ese mismo día llamaré a mi siervo Eliaquín hijo de Hilcías,

And it hath come to pass, in that day, That I have called to my servant, To Eliakim son of Hilkiah.

21 y le pondré tus vestiduras; lo ceñiré con tu cinto y le entregaré tu autoridad; y él será como un padre para los habitantes de Jerusalén y para la casa de Judá.

And I have clothed him with thy coat, And with thy girdle I strengthen him, And thy garment I give into his hand, And he hath been for a father to the inhabitant of Jerusalem, And to the house of Judah.

22 Y o le entregaré la llave de la casa de David. Lo que él abra, nadie podrá cerrarlo; lo que él cierre, nadie podrá abrirlo.

And I have placed the key Of the house of David on his shoulder, And he hath opened, and none is shutting, And hath shut, and none is opening.

23 E n el lugar donde yo lo ponga quedará firme como un clavo, y será un trono honroso para la casa de su padre.

And I have fixed him a nail in a stedfast place, And he hath been for a throne of honour To the house of his father.

24 D e él penderá toda la honra de la casa de su padre, de sus hijos y sus nietos, y de todos sus parientes menores en importancia.

And they have hanged on him All the honour of the house of his father, The offspring and the issue, All vessels of small quality, From vessels of basins to all vessels of flagons.

25 P ero vendrá el día en que ese clavo, que estaba en lugar firme, será removido y destrozado; se vendrá abajo, y la carga que de él pendía se hará pedazos.”» —Palabra del Señor de los ejércitos.

In that day -- an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Moved is the nail that is fixed In a stedfast place, Yea, it hath been cut down, and hath fallen, And cut off hath been the burden that on it, For Jehovah hath spoken!'
