1 L a sabiduría ha edificado su casa; la ha afirmado con siete columnas labradas,

Wisdom hath builded her house, She hath hewn out her pillars -- seven.

2 h a sacrificado los animales para el banquete, ha mezclado el vino y preparado la mesa.

She hath slaughtered her slaughter, She hath mingled her wine, Yea, she hath arranged her table.

3 A hora llama desde lo alto de la ciudad, luego de haber enviado a sus criadas.

She hath sent forth her damsels, She crieth on the tops of the high places of the city:

4 I nvita a los ingenuos a acercarse; les dice a los faltos de cordura:

`Who simple? let him turn aside hither.' Whoso lacketh heart: she hath said to him,

5 « ¡Vengan y coman de mi pan! ¡Beban del vino que he mezclado!

`Come, eat of my bread, And drink of the wine I have mingled.

6 ¡ Déjense de tonterías, y vivan! ¡Sigan el camino de la inteligencia!

Forsake ye, the simple, and live, And be happy in the way of understanding.

7 » Corrige al blasfemo y recibirás afrentas; reprende al impío y te ganarás insultos.

The instructor of a scorner Is receiving for it -- shame, And a reprover of the wicked -- his blemish.

8 N o reprendas al blasfemo, y no te aborrecerá; corrige al sabio, y te amará.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee, Give reproof to the wise, and he loveth thee.

9 D ale al sabio, y se hará más sabio; enseña al justo, y aumentará su saber.

Give to the wise, and he is wiser still, Make known to the righteous, And he increaseth learning.

10 E l principio de la sabiduría es el temor del Señor; el conocimiento de lo santo es inteligencia.

The commencement of wisdom the fear of Jehovah, And a knowledge of the Holy Ones understanding.

11 Y o haré que vivas mucho tiempo; ¡te daré muchos años de vida!

For by me do thy days multiply, And added to thee are years of life.

12 S i te haces sabio, el provecho es tuyo; si te vuelves blasfemo, sufrirás las consecuencias.»

If thou hast been wise, thou hast been wise for thyself, And thou hast scorned -- thyself bearest.

13 L a mujer insensata es provocativa; es insulsa e ignorante.

A foolish woman noisy, Simple, and hath not known what.

14 S e entroniza a la puerta de su casa, o en los lugares más altos de la ciudad,

And she hath sat at the opening of her house, On a throne -- the high places of the city,

15 y llama a los que pasan por ahí, a los que van por el camino recto.

To call to those passing by the way, Who are going straight their paths.

16 I nvita a los ingenuos a acercarse, y les dice a los faltos de cordura:

`Who simple? let him turn aside hither.' And whoso lacketh heart -- she said to him,

17 « ¡Qué dulce es el agua robada! ¡Qué sabroso es el pan comido a escondidas!»

`Stolen waters are sweet, And hidden bread is pleasant.'

18 Y ellos no saben que sus invitados terminan muertos en el fondo del sepulcro.

And he hath not known that Rephaim there, In deep places of Sheol her invited ones!
