1 ¿ Comenzamos otra vez a recomendarnos a nosotros mismos? ¿O tenemos acaso que presentarles a ustedes, o pedir de ustedes, cartas de recomendación, como hacen algunos?

Do we begin again to recommend ourselves, except we need, as some, letters of recommendation unto you, or from you?

2 N uestras cartas son ustedes mismos, y fueron escritas en nuestro corazón, y son conocidas y leídas por todos.

our letter ye are, having been written in our hearts, known and read by all men,

3 E s evidente que ustedes son una carta escrita por Cristo y expedida por nosotros; carta que no fue escrita con tinta sino con el Espíritu del Dios vivo, y no en tablas de piedra sino en las tablas de corazones que sienten.

manifested that ye are a letter of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not in the tablets of stone, but in fleshy tablets of the heart,

4 É sta es la confianza que tenemos ante Dios por medio de Cristo.

and such trust we have through the Christ toward God,

5 Y no es que nos creamos competentes por nosotros mismos, como si esta competencia nuestra surgiera de nuestra propia capacidad. Nuestra competencia proviene de Dios,

not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything, as of ourselves, but our sufficiency of God,

6 p ues él nos hizo ministros competentes de un nuevo pacto, no de la letra, sino del Espíritu; porque la letra mata, pero el Espíritu vivifica.

who also made us sufficient ministrants of a new covenant, not of letter, but of spirit; for the letter doth kill, and the spirit doth make alive.

7 S i el ministerio que llevaba a la muerte, y cuya letra estaba grabada en piedra, fue tan glorioso que los hijos de Israel no podían ni mirar el rostro de Moisés debido al resplandor que su rostro reflejaba, aunque era un resplandor efímero,

and if the ministration of the death, in letters, engraved in stones, came in glory, so that the sons of Israel were not able to look stedfastly to the face of Moses, because of the glory of his face -- which was being made useless,

8 ¿ no será más glorioso aún el ministerio del Espíritu?

how shall the ministration of the Spirit not be more in glory?

9 A decir verdad, si el ministerio de la condenación fue glorioso, más glorioso aún será el ministerio de la justificación;

for if the ministration of the condemnation glory, much more doth the ministration of the righteousness abound in glory;

10 P ues incluso lo que fue glorioso en su momento, ya no lo es tanto si se le compara con la gloria más excelsa.

for also even that which hath been glorious, hath not been glorious -- in this respect, because of the superior glory;

11 Y si lo perecedero era glorioso, mucho más glorioso será lo permanente.

for if that which is being made useless through glory, much more that which is remaining in glory.

12 P or lo tanto, como nosotros tenemos tal esperanza, actuamos con plena libertad.

Having, then, such hope, we use much freedom of speech,

13 N o actuamos como Moisés, que se cubría el rostro con un velo para que los hijos de Israel no se fijaran en el fin de lo perecedero.

and not as Moses, who was putting a vail upon his own face, for the sons of Israel not stedfastly to look to the end of that which is being made useless,

14 P ero la mente de ellos se endureció, y hasta el día de hoy, cuando leen el antiguo pacto, llevan puesto el mismo velo, que solamente por medio de Cristo puede ser quitado.

but their minds were hardened, for unto this day the same vail at the reading of the Old Covenant doth remain unwithdrawn -- which in Christ is being made useless --

15 Y aun hasta el día de hoy, cuando leen a Moisés, el velo les cubre el corazón;

but till to-day, when Moses is read, a vail upon their heart doth lie,

16 p ero ese velo les será quitado cuando se conviertan al Señor.

and whenever they may turn unto the Lord, the vail is taken away.

17 P orque el Señor es el Espíritu; y donde está el Espíritu del Señor, allí hay libertad.

And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord, there liberty;

18 P or lo tanto, todos nosotros, que miramos la gloria del Señor a cara descubierta, como en un espejo, somos transformados de gloria en gloria en la misma imagen, como por el Espíritu del Señor.

and we all, with unvailed face, the glory of the Lord beholding in a mirror, to the same image are being transformed, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
