1 P rincipio del evangelio de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios.

A beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, Son of God.

2 C omo está escrito en el profeta Isaías: «Yo envío a mi mensajero delante de ti, El cual preparará tu camino.

As it hath been written in the prophets, `Lo, I send My messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee,' --

3 U na voz clama en el desierto: “Preparen el camino del Señor; Enderecen sus sendas.”»

`A voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, straight make ye his paths,' --

4 J uan se presentó en el desierto, y bautizaba y proclamaba el bautismo de arrepentimiento para el perdón de pecados.

John came baptizing in the wilderness, and proclaiming a baptism of reformation -- to remission of sins,

5 T oda la gente de la provincia de Judea y de Jerusalén acudía a él, y allí en el río Jordán confesaban sus pecados, y Juan los bautizaba.

and there were going forth to him all the region of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and they were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

6 L a ropa de Juan era de pelo de camello, alrededor de la cintura llevaba un cinto de cuero, y se alimentaba de langostas y miel silvestre.

And John was clothed with camel's hair, and a girdle of skin around his loins, and eating locusts and honey of the field,

7 A l predicar, Juan decía: «Después de mí viene uno más poderoso que yo. ¡Yo no soy digno de inclinarme ante él para desatarle la correa de su calzado!

and he proclaimed, saying, `He doth come -- who is mightier than I -- after me, of whom I am not worthy -- having stooped down -- to loose the latchet of his sandals;

8 A ustedes yo los he bautizado con agua, pero él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo.» El bautismo de Jesús

I indeed did baptize you with water, but he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit.'

9 P or esos días llegó Jesús desde Nazaret de Galilea, y fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán.

And it came to pass in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John at the Jordan;

10 E n cuanto Jesús salió del agua, vio que los cielos se abrían y que el Espíritu descendía sobre él como una paloma.

and immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens dividing, and the Spirit as a dove coming down upon him;

11 Y desde los cielos se oyó una voz que decía: «Tú eres mi Hijo amado, en quien me complazco.» Tentación de Jesús

and a voice came out of the heavens, `Thou art My Son -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight.'

12 E nseguida, el Espíritu llevó a Jesús al desierto,

And immediately doth the Spirit put him forth to the wilderness,

13 y allí fue puesto a prueba por Satanás durante cuarenta días. Estaba entre las fieras, y los ángeles lo servían. Jesús principia su ministerio

and he was there in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by the Adversary, and he was with the beasts, and the messengers were ministering to him.

14 D espués de que Juan fue encarcelado, Jesús fue a Galilea para proclamar el evangelio del reino de Dios.

And after the delivering up of John, Jesus came to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of the reign of God,

15 D ecía: «El tiempo se ha cumplido, y el reino de Dios se ha acercado. ¡Arrepiéntanse, y crean en el evangelio!» Jesús llama a cuatro pescadores

and saying -- `Fulfilled hath been the time, and the reign of God hath come nigh, reform ye, and believe in the good news.'

16 M ientras Jesús caminaba junto al lago de Galilea, vio a Simón y a su hermano Andrés. Estaban echando la red al agua, porque eran pescadores.

And, walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew his brother, casting a drag into the sea, for they were fishers,

17 J esús les dijo: «Síganme, y yo haré de ustedes pescadores de hombres.»

and Jesus said to them, `Come ye after me, and I shall make you to become fishers of men;'

18 E nseguida, ellos dejaron sus redes y lo siguieron.

and immediately, having left their nets, they followed him.

19 U n poco más adelante, Jesús vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, quienes estaban en la barca y remendaban sus redes.

And having gone on thence a little, he saw James of Zebedee, and John his brother, and they were in the boat refitting the nets,

20 E nseguida Jesús los llamó, y ellos dejaron a su padre Zebedeo en la barca con los jornaleros, y lo siguieron. Un hombre con un espíritu impuro

and immediately he called them, and, having left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, they went away after him.

21 L legaron a Cafarnaún, y en cuanto llegó el día de reposo, Jesús fue a la sinagoga y se dedicó a enseñar.

And they go on to Capernaum, and immediately, on the sabbaths, having gone into the synagogue, he was teaching,

22 L a gente se admiraba de sus enseñanzas, porque enseñaba como corresponde a quien tiene autoridad, y no como los escribas.

and they were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes.

23 D e pronto, un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro comenzó a gritar en la sinagoga:

And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,

24 « Oye, Jesús de Nazaret, ¿qué tienes contra nosotros? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? ¡Yo sé quién eres tú! ¡Eres el Santo de Dios!»

saying, `Away! what -- to us and to thee, Jesus the Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art -- the Holy One of God.'

25 P ero Jesús lo reprendió, y le dijo: «¡Cállate, y sal de ese hombre!»

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him,'

26 E l espíritu impuro sacudió al hombre con violencia y, gritando con todas sus fuerzas, salió de aquel hombre.

and the unclean spirit having torn him, and having cried with a great voice, came forth out of him,

27 T odos quedaron muy asombrados, y se preguntaban unos a otros: «¿Y esto qué es? ¿Acaso es una nueva enseñanza? ¡Con toda autoridad manda incluso a los espíritus impuros, y éstos lo obedecen!»

and they were all amazed, so as to reason among themselves, saying, `What is this? what new teaching this? that with authority also the unclean spirits he commandeth, and they obey him!'

28 Y muy pronto la fama de Jesús se difundió por toda la provincia de Galilea. Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro

And the fame of him went forth immediately to all the region, round about, of Galilee.

29 E n cuanto salieron de la sinagoga, Jesús fue con Jacobo y Juan a la casa de Simón y Andrés.

And immediately, having come forth out of the synagogue, they went to the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John,

30 L a suegra de Simón estaba en cama porque tenía fiebre, y enseguida le hablaron de ella.

and the mother-in-law of Simon was lying fevered, and immediately they tell him about her,

31 J esús se acercó y, tomándola de la mano, la ayudó a levantarse. Al instante la fiebre se le fue, y ella comenzó a atenderlos. Muchos sanados al ponerse el sol

and having come near, he raised her up, having laid hold of her hand, and the fever left her immediately, and she was ministering to them.

32 A l anochecer, cuando el sol se puso, llevaron a Jesús a todos los que estaban enfermos y endemoniados.

And evening having come, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all who were ill, and who were demoniacs,

33 T oda la ciudad se agolpaba ante la puerta,

and the whole city was gathered together near the door,

34 y Jesús sanó a muchos que sufrían de diversas enfermedades, y también expulsó a muchos demonios, aunque no los dejaba hablar porque lo conocían. Jesús predica en Galilea

and he healed many who were ill of manifold diseases, and many demons he cast forth, and was not suffering the demons to speak, because they knew him.

35 M uy de mañana, cuando todavía estaba muy oscuro, Jesús se levantó y se fue a un lugar apartado para orar.

And very early, it being yet night, having risen, he went forth, and went away to a desert place, and was there praying;

36 S imón y los que estaban con él comenzaron a buscarlo,

and Simon and those with him went in quest of him,

37 y cuando lo encontraron le dijeron: «Todos te están buscando.»

and having found him, they say to him, -- `All do seek thee;'

38 É l les dijo: «Vayamos a las aldeas vecinas, para que también allí predique, porque para esto he venido.»

and he saith to them, `We may go to the next towns, that there also I may preach, for for this I came forth.'

39 Y Jesús recorrió toda Galilea; predicaba en las sinagogas y expulsaba demonios. Jesús sana a un leproso

And he was preaching in their synagogues, in all Galilee, and is casting out the demons,

40 U n leproso se acercó a Jesús, se arrodilló ante él y le dijo: «Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.»

and there doth come to him a leper, calling on him, and kneeling to him, and saying to him -- `If thou mayest will, thou art able to cleanse me.'

41 J esús tuvo compasión de él, así que extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo: «Quiero. Ya has quedado limpio.»

And Jesus having been moved with compassion, having stretched forth the hand, touched him, and saith to him, `I will; be thou cleansed;'

42 E n cuanto Jesús pronunció estas palabras, la lepra desapareció y aquel hombre quedó limpio.

and he having spoken, immediately the leprosy went away from him, and he was cleansed.

43 E nseguida Jesús le pidió que se fuera, pero antes le hizo una clara advertencia.

And having sternly charged him, immediately he put him forth,

44 L e dijo: «Ten cuidado de no decírselo a nadie. Más bien, ve y preséntate ante el sacerdote, y ofrece por tu purificación lo que Moisés mandó, para que les sirva de testimonio.»

and saith to him, `See thou mayest say nothing to any one, but go away, thyself shew to the priest, and bring near for thy cleansing the things Moses directed, for a testimony to them.'

45 P ero una vez que aquel hombre se fue, dio a conocer ampliamente lo sucedido, y de tal manera lo divulgó que Jesús ya no podía entrar abiertamente en ninguna ciudad, sino que se quedaba afuera, en lugares apartados. Pero aun así, de todas partes la gente acudía a él.

And he, having gone forth, began to proclaim much, and to spread abroad the thing, so that no more he was able openly to enter into the city, but he was without in desert places, and they were coming unto him from every quarter.
