1 D arío hijo de Asuero, que era de la nación de los medos, llegó a ser rey de los caldeos. En el primer año

In the first year of Darius, son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, who hath been made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans,

2 d e su reinado yo, Daniel, logré entender en los escritos el número de años que el Señor había anunciado al profeta Jeremías: la desolación de Jerusalén habría de durar setenta años.

in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, have understood by books the number of the years, (in that a word of Jehovah hath been unto Jeremiah the prophet,) concerning the fulfilling of the wastes of Jerusalem -- seventy years;

3 V olví entonces mi rostro a mi Dios y Señor, para pedir su ayuda con oración y ruego. Me puse a ayunar, y me cubrí de cilicio y de ceniza.

and I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes.

4 Y ésta fue mi oración al Señor mi Dios; ésta fue mi confesión: Señor, Dios grande y digno de ser temido, que cumples tu pacto y tu misericordia con los que te aman y cumplen tus mandamientos:

And I pray to Jehovah my God, and confess, and say: `I beseech Thee, O Lord God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and the kindness to those loving Him, and to those keeping His commands;

5 H emos pecado, hemos hecho lo malo, hemos sido impíos y rebeldes; ¡nos hemos apartado de tus leyes y mandamientos!

we have sinned, and done perversely, and done wickedly, and rebelled, to turn aside from Thy commands, and from Thy judgments:

6 N o obedecimos a tus siervos los profetas, que en tu nombre hablaron a nuestros reyes, a nuestros príncipes y a nuestros padres, y a todo el pueblo de la tierra.

and we have not hearkened unto Thy servants, the prophets, who have spoken in Thy name unto our kings, our heads, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 T uya, Señor, es la justicia, y nuestra es la vergüenza, vergüenza que hoy llevan todos en Judá, todos los habitantes de Jerusalén, todo israelita, cercano y lejano, todos los que, por rebelarse contra ti, viven ahora en los países adonde los echaste.

`To Thee, O Lord, the righteousness, and to us the shame of face, as this day, to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, who are near, and who are far off, in all the lands whither Thou hast driven them, in their trespass that they have trespassed against Thee.

8 S eñor, nuestra es la vergüenza, y de nuestros padres, príncipes y reyes, porque todos hemos pecado contra ti.

`O Lord, to us the shame of face, to our kings, to our heads, and to our fathers, in that we have sinned against Thee.

9 P ero tú, Señor y Dios nuestro, eres un Dios misericordioso, que sabe perdonar, a pesar de que nos hemos rebelado contra ti

`To the Lord our God the mercies and the forgivenesses, for we have rebelled against Him,

10 y no hemos obedecido tu voz; ¡no hemos obedecido las leyes que tú, Señor y Dios nuestro, nos propusiste por medio de tus siervos los profetas.

and have not hearkened to the voice of Jehovah our God, to walk in His laws, that He hath set before us by the hand of His servants the prophets;

11 T odo Israel ha transgredido tu ley; se apartó de ti para no obedecerte. ¡Por eso nos han sobrevenido la maldición y el juramento escritos en la ley de Moisés, tu siervo, porque contra ti hemos pecado!

and all Israel have transgressed Thy law, to turn aside so as not to hearken to Thy voice; and poured on us is the execration, and the oath, that is written in the law of Moses, servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

12 Y tú has cumplido tus advertencias contra nosotros, y contra los jefes que nos gobernaron y trajeron tan grande mal sobre nosotros. ¡Nunca antes se hizo bajo el cielo lo que se ha hecho contra Jerusalén!

`And He confirmeth His words that He hath spoken against us, and against our judges who have judged us, to bring in upon us great evil, in that it hath not been done under the whole heavens as it hath been done in Jerusalem,

13 T odo este mal nos ha sobrevenido, tal y como está escrito en la ley de Moisés. No hemos implorado tu favor, Señor y Dios nuestro; no nos apartamos de la maldad ni entendimos tu verdad.

as it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil hath come upon us, and we have not appeased the face of Jehovah our God to turn back from our iniquities, and to act wisely in Thy truth.

14 P or eso tú, Señor, observaste nuestra maldad y la hiciste volverse contra nosotros, porque tú, Señor y Dios nuestro, eres justo en todo lo que haces, y nosotros no obedecimos tu voz.

And Jehovah doth watch for the evil, and bringeth it upon us, for righteous Jehovah our God concerning all His works that He hath done, and we have not hearkened to His voice.

15 A hora pues, Señor y Dios nuestro, que con gran poder sacaste de Egipto a tu pueblo y te ganaste el renombre que hoy tienes: ¡hemos pecado, hemos actuado con impiedad!

And now, O Lord our God, who hast brought forth Thy people from the land of Egypt by a strong hand, and dost make for Thee a name as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16 P ero actúa, Señor, conforme a tu justicia y aparta tu ira y tu furor de Jerusalén; ¡apártalos de tu ciudad y de tu santo monte! ¡Por nuestros pecados y por la maldad de nuestros padres Jerusalén y nosotros somos el oprobio de nuestros vecinos!

`O Lord, according to all Thy righteous acts, let turn back, I pray Thee, Thine anger and Thy fury from Thy city Jerusalem, Thy holy mount, for by our sins, and by the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Thy people for a reproach to all our neighbours;

17 D ios nuestro, ¡oye la oración de este siervo tuyo! ¡Oye sus ruegos, Señor, y por tu amor haz resplandecer tu rostro sobre tu derruido santuario!

and now, hearken, O our God, unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto his supplication, and cause Thy face to shine on Thy sanctuary that desolate, for the Lord's sake.

18 ¡ Inclina, Dios mío, tu oído, y escúchanos! ¡Abre tus ojos, y mira nuestra desolación y la ciudad sobre la que se invoca tu nombre! ¡A ti elevamos nuestros ruegos, no porque confiemos en nuestra justicia sino porque confiamos en tu gran misericordia!

`Incline, O my God, Thine ear, and hear, open Thine eyes and see our desolations, and the city on which Thy name is called; for not for our righteous acts are we causing our supplications to fall before Thee, but for Thy mercies that many.

19 ¡ Señor, Señor, óyenos y perdónanos! ¡Préstanos atención, Señor, y actúa! Por amor a ti mismo, Dios mío, ¡no tardes!, que tu nombre se invoca sobre tu ciudad y tu pueblo. Profecía de las setenta semanas

O lord, hear, O Lord, forgive; O Lord, attend and do; do not delay, for Thine own sake, O my God, for Thy name is called on Thy city, and on Thy people.'

20 T odavía estaba yo hablando y orando, y confesando mi pecado y el de mi pueblo Israel; todavía estaba yo derramando mi ruego ante el Señor mi Dios en favor de su santo monte,

And while I am speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin, and the sin of my people Israel, and causing my supplication to fall before Jehovah my God, for the holy mount of my God,

21 y orando sin cesar, cuando hacia la hora del sacrificio de la tarde vi que Gabriel, el hombre que antes había visto en la visión, volaba hacia mí apresuradamente.

yea, while I am speaking in prayer, then that one Gabriel, whom I had seen in vision at the commencement, being caused to fly swiftly, is coming unto me at the time of the evening present.

22 H abló conmigo, y me explicó: «Daniel, si he salido ahora ha sido para infundirte sabiduría y entendimiento.

And he giveth understanding, and speaketh with me, and saith, `O Daniel, now I have come forth to cause thee to consider understanding wisely;

23 L a orden fue dada en cuanto tú comenzaste a orar, y yo he venido a explicarte todo, porque Dios te ama mucho. Así que entiende la orden y la visión.

at the commencement of thy supplications hath the word come forth, and I have come to declare, for thou greatly desired, and understand thou concerning the matter, and consider concerning the appearance.

24 » Se ha concedido a tu pueblo y a la santa ciudad un plazo de setenta semanas para poner fin a sus pecados y transgresiones, para que expíen su iniquidad y establezcan la justicia de manera perdurable, y para que sellen la visión y la profecía, y unjan al Santo de los santos.

`Seventy weeks are determined for thy people, and for thy holy city, to shut up the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover iniquity, and to bring in righteousness age-during, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the holy of holies.

25 A sí que debes saber y entender que, desde que se emitió la orden para restaurar y edificar a Jerusalén, y hasta que llegue el Mesías Príncipe, transcurrirán siete semanas, y sesenta y dos semanas más, y luego se volverá a reconstruir la plaza y la muralla. Serán tiempos angustiosos.

And thou dost know, and dost consider wisely, from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem till Messiah the Leader seven weeks, and sixty and two weeks: the broad place hath been built again, and the rampart, even in the distress of the times.

26 D espués de las sesenta y dos semanas se le quitará la vida al Mesías, sin que él intervenga en esto, y el pueblo de un príncipe que está por venir destruirá la ciudad y el santuario. El fin vendrá como una inundación, y habrá destrucción hasta que la guerra termine.

And after the sixty and two weeks, cut off is Messiah, and the city and the holy place are not his, the Leader who hath come doth destroy the people; and its end with a flood, and till the end war, determined desolations.

27 D urante una semana, ese príncipe confirmará su pacto con muchos, pero a la mitad de la semana suspenderá los sacrificios y las ofrendas. Después de muchas cosas repugnantes vendrá el destructor, hasta que llegue el fin y caiga sobre el desolador lo que está determinado que le sobrevenga.»

And he hath strengthened a covenant with many -- one week, and the midst of the week he causeth sacrifice and present to cease, and by the wing of abominations he is making desolate, even till the consummation, and that which is determined is poured on the desolate one.'
