1 D el corazón del hombre surgen los planes, pero del Señor proviene la respuesta de la lengua.

Of man arrangements of the heart, And from Jehovah an answer of the tongue.

2 S egún el hombre, todo camino es limpio, pero el Señor pondera los espíritus.

All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering the spirits.

3 E ncomienda al Señor tus acciones, y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.

Roll unto Jehovah thy works, And established are thy purposes,

4 E l Señor lo ha hecho todo para sí mismo; ¡hasta el impío está hecho para el día fatal!

All things hath Jehovah wrought for Himself, And also the wicked for a day of evil.

5 E l Señor aborrece a los de corazón altivo, y es un hecho que no quedarán impunes.

An abomination to Jehovah every proud one of heart, Hand to hand he is not acquitted.

6 E l amor verdadero perdona el pecado; el temor del Señor aparta del mal a los hombres.

In kindness and truth pardoned is iniquity, And in the fear of Jehovah Turn thou aside from evil.

7 S i el Señor aprueba los caminos del hombre, hasta sus enemigos hacen la paz con él.

When a man's ways please Jehovah, even his enemies, He causeth to be at peace with him.

8 E s mejor lo poco del justo que los muchos frutos del injusto.

Better a little with righteousness, Than abundance of increase without justice.

9 E l corazón del hombre pondera su camino, pero el Señor le corrige el rumbo.

The heart of man deviseth his way, And Jehovah establisheth his step.

10 E l rey tiene el veredicto en sus labios; no hay error cuando emite la sentencia.

An oath on the lips of a king, In judgment his mouth trespasseth not.

11 L as pesas y medidas justas son del Señor; todas las balanzas son su propia creación.

A just beam and balances Jehovah's, His work all the stones of the bag.

12 E s repugnante que los reyes cometan el mal, porque el trono se afirma en la justicia.

An abomination to kings doing wickedness, For by righteousness is a throne established.

13 E s grato que los reyes hablen con justicia, y que amen a los que dicen la verdad.

The delight of kings righteous lips, And whoso is speaking uprightly he loveth,

14 L a ira del rey es heraldo de muerte, pero el que es sabio sabe evitarla.

The fury of a king messengers of death, And a wise man pacifieth it.

15 E l rostro alegre del rey es presagio de vida; su favor es una nube cargada de lluvia.

In the light of a king's face life, And his good-will as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 G anar sabiduría e inteligencia es mejor que adquirir oro y plata.

To get wisdom -- how much better than gold, And to get understanding to be chosen than silver!

17 L os hombres rectos se apartan del mal camino; quien cuida sus pasos, cuida su vida.

A highway of the upright, `Turn from evil,' Whoso is preserving his soul is watching his way.

18 L a soberbia precede al fracaso; la arrogancia anticipa la caída.

Before destruction pride, And before stumbling -- a haughty spirit.'

19 E s mejor ser humilde entre los humildes que compartir despojos con los soberbios.

Better is humility of spirit with the poor, Than to apportion spoil with the proud.

20 E l que atiende a la palabra, halla el bien; ¡dichoso aquél que confía en el Señor!

The wise in any matter findeth good, And whoso is trusting in Jehovah, O his happiness.

21 A l de corazón sabio se le llama prudente; los labios amables aumentan el saber.

To the wise in heart is called, `Intelligent,' And sweetness of lips increaseth learning.

22 T ener cordura es tener la fuente de la vida; a los necios los castiga su propia necedad.

A fountain of life understanding to its possessors, The instruction of fools is folly.

23 E l sabio de corazón habla con prudencia, y a sus labios añade sabiduría.

The heart of the wise causeth his mouth to act wisely, And by his lips he increaseth learning,

24 L as palabras amables son un panal de miel; endulzan el alma y sanan el cuerpo.

Sayings of pleasantness a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and healing to the bone.

25 H ay caminos que el hombre considera buenos, pero que al final resultan caminos de muerte.

There is a way right before a man, And its latter end -- ways of death.

26 E l trabajador se afana para calmar su apetito; su estímulo es llenarse la boca.

A labouring man hath laboured for himself, For his mouth hath caused to bend over it.

27 E l que es perverso escarba en el mal; hay en sus labios una llama de fuego.

A worthless man is preparing evil, And on his lips -- as a burning fire.

28 E l que es perverso provoca contiendas; el chismoso aparta a los mejores amigos.

A froward man sendeth forth contention, A tale-bearer is separating a familiar friend.

29 E l que es violento adula a su prójimo y lo hace andar por el mal camino;

A violent man enticeth his neighbour, And hath causeth him to go in a way not good.

30 c ierra los ojos y hace planes malvados, mueve los labios y consuma el mal.

Consulting his eyes to devise froward things, Moving his lips he hath accomplished evil.

31 L a vejez es la corona de una vida honrada, y se la halla en el camino de la justicia.

A crown of beauty grey hairs, In the way of righteousness it is found.

32 S er paciente es mejor que ser valiente; es mejor dominarse uno mismo que tomar una ciudad.

Better the slow to anger than the mighty, And the ruler over his spirit than he who is taking a city.

33 L as suertes se echan en el regazo; pero el resultado depende del Señor.

Into the centre is the lot cast, And from Jehovah all its judgment!
