1 E l Señor visitó a Sara y actuó en ella tal y como se lo había prometido.

And Jehovah hath looked after Sarah as He hath said, and Jehovah doth to Sarah as He hath spoken;

2 Y Sara concibió y le dio un hijo a Abrahán en su vejez, en el tiempo preciso que Dios le había anunciado.

and Sarah conceiveth, and beareth a son to Abraham, to his old age, at the appointed time that God hath spoken of with him;

3 A l hijo que le nació a Abrahán, y que dio a luz Sara, Abrahán le puso por nombre Isaac.

and Abraham calleth the name of his son who is born to him, whom Sarah hath born to him -- Isaac;

4 A brahán circuncidó a su hijo Isaac a los ocho días de nacido, tal y como Dios se lo había ordenado.

and Abraham circumciseth Isaac his son, a son of eight days, as God hath commanded him.

5 C uando nació su hijo Isaac, Abrahán tenía cien años.

And Abraham a son of a hundred years in Isaac his son being born to him,

6 S ara dijo entonces: «Dios me ha hecho reír, y todo el que lo sepa se reirá conmigo.»

and Sarah saith, `God hath made laughter for me; every one who is hearing laugheth for me.'

7 Y añadió: «¿Quién le hubiera dicho a Abrahán que yo, Sara, habría de amamantar hijos? ¡Pues le he dado un hijo en su vejez!» Agar e Ismael son despedidos

She saith also, `Who hath said to Abraham, Sarah hath suckled sons, that I have born a son for his old age?'

8 E l niño creció, y fue destetado. El día que Isaac fue destetado, Abrahán ofreció un gran banquete.

And the lad groweth, and is weaned, and Abraham maketh a great banquet in the day of Isaac's being weaned;

9 P ero Sara vio que el hijo que Agar, la egipcia, le había dado a luz a Abrahán se burlaba de su hijo,

and Sarah seeth the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she hath borne to Abraham, mocking,

10 a sí que le dijo a Abrahán: «Despide a esta sierva y a su hijo, porque el hijo de una sierva no va a compartir la herencia con mi hijo Isaac.»

and she saith to Abraham, `Cast out this handmaid and her son; for the son of this handmaid hath no possession with my son -- with Isaac.'

11 E stas palabras le parecieron muy preocupantes a Abrahán, por causa de su hijo.

And the thing is very wrong in the eyes of Abraham, for his son's sake;

12 P ero Dios le dijo a Abrahán: «No te preocupes demasiado por causa del niño ni de tu sierva. Hazle caso a Sara en todo lo que te diga, pues por medio de Isaac te vendrá descendencia;

and God saith unto Abraham, `Let it not be wrong in thine eyes because of the youth, and because of thy handmaid: all that Sarah saith unto thee -- hearken to her voice, for in Isaac is a seed called to thee.

13 a unque también del hijo de la sierva haré una nación, porque es descendiente tuyo.»

As to the son of the handmaid also, for a nation I set him, because he thy seed.'

14 A l día siguiente Abrahán madrugó, tomó pan y un odre con agua, y luego de ponérselo a Agar en el hombro, le entregó el niño y la despidió. Y ella salió y anduvo sin rumbo fijo por el desierto de Berseba.

And Abraham riseth early in the morning, and taketh bread, and a bottle of water, and giveth unto Hagar (placing on her shoulder), also the lad, and sendeth her out; and she goeth on, and goeth astray in the wilderness of Beer-Sheba;

15 C uando le faltó agua al odre, tendió al niño bajo un arbusto

and the water is consumed from the bottle, and she placeth the lad under one of the shrubs.

16 y fue a sentarse frente a él a la distancia de un tiro de arco, pues decía: «No quiero ver cuando el niño muera.» Ya sentada frente a él, prorrumpió en llanto.

And she goeth and sitteth by herself over-against, afar off, about a bow-shot, for she said, `Let me not look on the death of the lad;' and she sitteth over-against, and lifteth up her voice, and weepeth.

17 P ero Dios oyó la voz del niño. Entonces el ángel de Dios llamó a Agar desde el cielo, y le dijo: «¿Qué te pasa, Agar? No tengas miedo, que Dios ha oído la voz del niño ahí donde está.

And God heareth the voice of the youth; and the messenger of God calleth unto Hagar from the heavens, and saith to her, `What to thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath hearkened unto the voice of the youth where he;

18 V amos, levanta al niño y sosténlo de la mano, porque yo haré de él una gran nación.»

rise, lift up the youth, and lay hold on him with thy hand, for for a great nation I set him.'

19 Y Dios le abrió los ojos, y ella vio un manantial; entonces fue y llenó el odre con agua, y le dio de beber al niño.

And God openeth her eyes, and she seeth a well of water, and she goeth and filleth the bottle water, and causeth the youth to drink;

20 Y Dios estaba con el niño, y éste creció y se estableció en el desierto, y fue tirador de arco.

and God is with the youth, and he groweth, and dwelleth in the wilderness, and is an archer;

21 Y a establecido en el desierto de Parán, su madre tomó para él una mujer de la tierra de Egipto. Pacto entre Abrahán y Abimelec

and he dwelleth in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother taketh for him a wife from the land of Egypt.

22 P or ese mismo tiempo sucedió que Abimelec fue a hablar con Abrahán, y lo acompañó Ficol, jefe de su ejército. Le dijo: «Dios está contigo en todo lo que haces.

And it cometh to pass at that time that Abimelech speaketh -- Phichol also, head of his host -- unto Abraham, saying, `God with thee in all that thou art doing;

23 A sí que júrame aquí mismo, por Dios, que no me tratarás mal a mí, ni a mi hijo ni a mi nieto, sino que me tratarás con la misma bondad con que te he tratado, y que harás lo mismo con la tierra en la que habitas.»

and now, swear to me by God here: thou dost not lie to me, or to my continuator, or to my successor; according to the kindness which I have done with thee thou dost with me, and with the land in which thou hast sojourned.'

24 Y Abrahán respondió: «Lo juro.»

And Abraham saith, `I -- I do swear.'

25 P ero Abrahán reconvino a Abimelec por un pozo de agua que los siervos de Abimelec le habían quitado.

And Abraham reasoned with Abimelech concerning the matter of a well of water which Abimelech's servants have taken violently away,

26 Y Abimelec respondió: «No sé quién haya hecho esto, ni tú me lo hiciste saber, y tampoco yo lo supe hasta hoy.»

and Abimelech saith, `I have not known who hath done this thing, and even thou didst not declare to me, and I also, I have not heard save to-day.'

27 A brahán tomó entonces ovejas y vacas, y se las dio a Abimelec, y los dos hicieron un pacto.

And Abraham taketh sheep and oxen, and giveth to Abimelech, and they make, both of them, a covenant;

28 D el rebaño, Abrahán apartó siete corderas,

and Abraham setteth seven Lambs of the flock by themselves.

29 y Abimelec le preguntó a Abrahán: «Y estas siete corderas que has apartado, ¿qué significan?»

And Abimelech saith unto Abraham, `What they -- these seven lambs which thou hast set by themselves?'

30 Y él respondió: «Significan que vas a recibir de mi mano estas siete corderas, para que sirvan de testimonio en mi favor de que yo cavé este pozo.»

And he saith, `For -- the seven lambs thou dost accept from my hand, so that it becometh a witness for me that I have digged this well;'

31 P or eso a aquel lugar lo llamó Berseba; porque allí los dos hicieron un juramento.

therefore hath he called that place `Beer-Sheba,' for there have both of them sworn.

32 A llí en Berseba hicieron un pacto. Luego se levantó Abimelec, y Ficol, el jefe de su ejército, y juntos volvieron a la tierra de los filisteos.

And they make a covenant in Beer-Sheba, and Abimelech riseth -- Phichol also, head of his host -- and they turn back unto the land of the Philistines;

33 E n Berseba Abrahán plantó un árbol tamarisco, y allí invocó el nombre del Señor, el Dios eterno.

and planteth a tamarask in Beer-Sheba, and preacheth there in the name of Jehovah, God age-during;

34 Y Abrahán vivió mucho tiempo en la tierra de los filisteos.

and Abraham sojourneth in the land of the Philistines many days.
