1 P or tanto tú, que juzgas a otros, no tienes excusa, no importa quién seas, pues al juzgar a otros te condenas a ti mismo, porque haces las mismas cosas que hacen ellos.

Therefore, thou art inexcusable, O man -- every one who is judging -- for in that in which thou dost judge the other, thyself thou dost condemn, for the same things thou dost practise who art judging,

2 T odos sabemos que el juicio de Dios contra los que practican tales cosas se ciñe a la verdad.

and we have known that the judgment of God is according to truth, upon those practising such things.

3 Y tú, que juzgas a los demás pero practicas las mismas cosas que ellos, ¿piensas que escaparás del juicio de Dios?

And dost thou think this, O man, who art judging those who such things are practising, and art doing them, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?

4 ¿ No te das cuenta de que menosprecias la benignidad, la tolerancia y la paciencia de Dios, y que ignoras que su benignidad busca llevarte al arrepentimiento?

or the riches of His goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering, dost thou despise? -- not knowing that the goodness of God doth lead thee to reformation!

5 P ero por la obstinación y dureza de tu corazón, vas acumulando ira contra ti mismo para el día de la ira, cuando Dios revelará su justo juicio,

but, according to thy hardness and impenitent heart, thou dost treasure up to thyself wrath, in a day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

6 e n el cual pagará a cada uno conforme a sus obras.

who shall render to each according to his works;

7 D ios dará vida eterna a los que, perseverando en hacer el bien, buscan gloria, honra e inmortalidad;

to those, indeed, who in continuance of a good work, do seek glory, and honour, and incorruptibility -- life age-during;

8 p ero castigará con ira a los que por egoísmo se rebelan y no obedecen a la verdad, sino a la injusticia.

and to those contentious, and disobedient, indeed, to the truth, and obeying the unrighteousness -- indignation and wrath,

9 H abrá sufrimiento y angustia para todos los que hacen lo malo, en primer lugar para los judíos, pero también para los que no lo son.

tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;

10 E n cambio, habrá gloria, honra y paz para todos los que hacen lo bueno, en primer lugar para los judíos, pero también para los que no lo son;

and glory, and honour, and peace, to every one who is working the good, both to Jew first, and to Greek.

11 p orque ante Dios todas las personas son iguales.

For there is no acceptance of faces with God,

12 A sí que todos los que han pecado sin haber tenido la ley, perecerán sin la ley, y todos los que han pecado bajo la ley, serán juzgados por la ley.

for as many as without law did sin, without law also shall perish, and as many as did sin in law, through law shall be judged,

13 P orque Dios no considera justos a los que simplemente oyen la ley sino a los que la obedecen.

for not the hearers of the law righteous before God, but the doers of the law shall be declared righteous: --

14 P orque cuando los paganos, que no tienen ley, hacen por naturaleza lo que la ley demanda, son ley para sí mismos, aunque no tengan la ley;

For, when nations that have not a law, by nature may do the things of the law, these not having a law -- to themselves are a law;

15 y de esa manera demuestran que llevan la ley escrita en su corazón, pues su propia conciencia da testimonio, y sus propios razonamientos los acusarán o defenderán

who do shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also witnessing with them, and between one another the thoughts accusing or else defending,

16 e n el día en que Dios juzgará por medio de Jesucristo los secretos de los hombres, conforme a mi evangelio. Los judíos y la ley

in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my good news, through Jesus Christ.

17 A hora bien, tú te llamas judío, confías en la ley, y te enorgulleces de tu Dios.

Lo, thou art named a Jew, and dost rest upon the law, and dost boast in God,

18 C onoces la voluntad de Dios y juzgas lo que es mejor porque la ley así te lo ha enseñado.

and dost know the will, and dost approve the distinctions, being instructed out of the law,

19 E stás convencido de que eres guía de los ciegos y luz de los que están en tinieblas,

and hast confidence that thou thyself art a leader of blind ones, a light of those in darkness,

20 i nstructor de los ignorantes y maestro de niños, y que tienes en la ley la clave del conocimiento y de la verdad.

an instructor of foolish ones, a teacher of babes, having the form of the knowledge and of the truth in the law.

21 P ues bien, tú que enseñas a otros, ¿no te enseñas a ti mismo? Tú que predicas que no se debe robar, ¿robas?

Thou, then, who art teaching another, thyself dost thou not teach?

22 T ú que dices que no se debe cometer adulterio, ¿adulteras? Tú que detestas a los ídolos, ¿robas en los templos?

thou who art preaching not to steal, dost thou steal? thou who art saying not to commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou who art abhorring the idols, dost thou rob temples?

23 T ú que te sientes orgulloso de la ley, ¿deshonras a Dios quebrantando la ley?

thou who in the law dost boast, through the transgression of the law God dost thou dishonour?

24 P orque, como está escrito: «Por causa de ustedes el nombre de Dios es blasfemado entre los paganos.»

for the name of God because of you is evil spoken of among the nations, according as it hath been written.

25 E s verdad que, si obedeces a la ley, la circuncisión es provechosa, pero si la desobedeces, será como si no estuvieras circuncidado.

For circumcision, indeed, doth profit, if law thou mayest practise, but if a transgressor of law thou mayest be, thy circumcision hath become uncircumcision.

26 P or lo tanto, si el que no está circuncidado obedece lo que la ley ordena, ¿no se lo considerará como si estuviera circuncidado?

If, therefore the uncircumcision the righteousness of the law may keep, shall not his uncircumcision for circumcision be reckoned?

27 Y el que no está físicamente circuncidado, pero obedece a la ley, te condenará a ti, que desobedeces a la ley a pesar de que tienes la ley y estás circuncidado.

and the uncircumcision, by nature, fulfilling the law, shall judge thee who, through letter and circumcision, a transgressor of law.

28 P orque lo exterior no hace judío a nadie, y estar circuncidado no es una señal externa solamente.

For he is not a Jew who is outwardly, neither circumcision that which is outward in flesh;

29 E l verdadero judío lo es en su interior, y la circuncisión no es la literal sino la espiritual, la del corazón. El que es judío de esta manera es aprobado, no por los hombres, sino por Dios.

but a Jew he who is inwardly, and circumcision of the heart, in spirit, not in letter, of which the praise is not of men, but of God.
