1 J unto con el levita Coré hijo de Isar, hijo de Coat, los rubenitas Datán y Abirán, hijos de Eliab, y On hijo de Pelet, decidieron

And Korah, son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi, taketh both Dathan and Abiram sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben,

2 r ebelarse contra Moisés. Acompañados de doscientos cincuenta israelitas importantes, que eran miembros del consejo y contaban con buena fama,

and they rise up before Moses, with men of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty, princes of the company, called of the convention, men of name,

3 s e juntaron contra Moisés y Aarón y les dijeron: «¡Ya estamos hartos de ustedes! Si todos en la congregación son gente consagrada al Señor, y si el Señor está en medio de ellos, ¿por qué ustedes se creen superiores a la congregación del Señor?»

and they are assembled against Moses and against Aaron, and say unto them, `Enough of you! for all the company -- all of them holy, and in their midst Jehovah; and wherefore do ye lift yourselves up above the assembly of Jehovah?'

4 C uando Moisés oyó esto, se inclinó delante de ellos

And Moses heareth, and falleth on his face,

5 y les dijo a Coré y a todos los que lo acompañaban: «Mañana el Señor dará a conocer quién es suyo, y quién está consagrado a él, y a quien él escoja, le dirá que se acerque a él.

and he speaketh unto Korah, and unto all his company, saying, `Morning! -- and Jehovah is knowing those who are his, and him who is holy, and hath brought near unto Him; even him whom He doth fix on He bringeth near unto Him.

6 L o que tú, Coré, y toda tu gente, pueden hacer es tomar incensarios

This do: take to yourselves censers, Korah, and all his company,

7 y poner fuego en ellos; pongan también mañana incienso en ellos delante del Señor, y que sea el hombre consagrado al Señor aquél a quien el Señor escoja. ¡Ya estoy harto de ustedes, levitas!»

and put in them fire, and put on them perfume, before Jehovah to-morrow, and it hath been, the man whom Jehovah chooseth, he the holy one; -- enough of you, sons of Levi.'

8 A Coré, Moisés le dijo: «Escúchenme, levitas:

And Moses saith unto Korah, `Hear ye, I pray you, sons of Levi;

9 ¿ Creen que es poca cosa que el Dios de Israel los haya apartado del resto de los israelitas, que los haya acercado a él para que ministren en el servicio del tabernáculo del Señor, y que estén delante de la congregación para ministrarles?

is it little to you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the company of Israel to bring you near unto Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of Jehovah, and to stand before the company to serve them? --

10 ¿ Es poca cosa que te haya acercado a ti, y contigo a todos tus hermanos levitas? ¿Acaso andan también atrás del sacerdocio?

yea, He doth bring thee near, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee -- and ye have sought also the priesthood!

11 E res tú, y es todo tu grupo, los que se están poniendo en contra del Señor; porque ¿quién es Aarón, para que murmuren contra él?»

Therefore, thou and all thy company who are met against Jehovah; and Aaron, what he, that ye murmur against him?'

12 E ntonces Moisés mandó a llamar a Datán y Abirán, hijos de Eliab; pero ellos respondieron: «¡No vamos a ir!

And Moses sendeth to call for Dathan and for Abiram sons of Eliab, and they say, `We do not come up;

13 T ú, no contento con habernos sacado de una tierra que destila leche y miel, para hacernos morir en el desierto, ¿ahora quieres también decirnos qué es lo que debemos hacer?

is it little that thou hast brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to put us to death in a wilderness that thou also certainly makest thyself prince over us?

14 T ú, ni nos has llevado a la tierra que fluye leche y miel, ni nos has dado terrenos y viñas. ¿Qué quieres? ¿Sacarle los ojos a esta gente? ¡No vamos a ir!»

Yea, unto a land flowing with milk and honey thou hast not brought us in, nor dost thou give to us an inheritance of field and vineyard; the eyes of these men dost thou pick out? we do not come up.'

15 E sto le molestó mucho a Moisés, así que le dijo al Señor: «¡No aceptes su ofrenda! ¡Yo ni siquiera un asno les he quitado, ni tampoco les he hecho ningún mal!»

And it is very displeasing to Moses, and he saith unto Jehovah, `Turn not Thou unto their present; not one ass from them have I taken, nor have I afflicted one of them.'

16 Y a Coré le dijo: «Tú, y todo tu grupo, y también Aarón: ¡preséntense mañana delante del Señor!

And Moses saith unto Korah, `Thou and all thy company, be ye before Jehovah, thou, and they, and Aaron, to-morrow;

17 T omen cada uno de ustedes su incensario, pongan incienso en ellos, y acérquese cada uno de ustedes al Señor, con su incensario. Con tu incensario y el de Aarón, serán doscientos cincuenta incensarios.»

and take ye each his censer, and ye have put on them perfume, and brought near before Jehovah, each his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; and thou and Aaron, each his censer.'

18 C ada uno de ellos tomó su incensario, puso fuego en él, le echó incienso, y junto con Moisés y Aarón se puso a la entrada del tabernáculo de reunión.

And they take each his censer, and put on them fire, and lay on them perfume, and they stand at the opening of the tent of meeting, with Moses and Aaron.

19 C uando ya Coré había hecho que toda la congregación se juntara contra ellos a la entrada del tabernáculo de reunión, la gloria del Señor se manifestó a toda la congregación,

And Korah assembleth against them all the company unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and the honour of Jehovah is seen by all the company.

20 y entonces el Señor les dijo a Moisés y Aarón:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

21 « ¡Apártense de esta congregación, que ahora mismo voy a consumirlos!»

`Be ye separated from the midst of this company, and I consume them in a moment;'

22 E llos se postraron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: «Dios, Dios de los espíritus de toda la humanidad, ¿Por qué te enojas contra toda la congregación, si fue un solo hombre el que pecó?»

and they fall on their faces, and say, `God, God of the spirits of all flesh -- the one man sinneth, and against all the company Thou art wroth!'

23 E ntonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

24 « Habla con la congregación, y diles que se alejen de la tienda de Coré, Datán y Abirán, y de sus alrededores.»

`Speak unto the company, saying, Go ye up from round about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.'

25 E ntonces Moisés se levantó y fue a hablar con Datán y Abirán, y los ancianos de Israel lo siguieron.

And Moses riseth, and goeth unto Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel go after him,

26 Y Moisés le dijo a la congregación: «Apártense de las tiendas de estos malvados, y no toquen nada que les pertenezca, para que no mueran por todos sus pecados.»

and he speaketh unto the company, saying, `Turn aside, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and come not against anything that they have, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.'

27 L a gente se apartó de las tiendas de Coré, Datán y Abirán, y de sus alrededores, y Datán y Abirán salieron y se pusieron a la entrada de sus tiendas, junto con sus mujeres y todos sus hijos.

And they go up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, from round about, and Dathan, and Abiram have come out, standing at the opening of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their infants.

28 E ntonces Moisés dijo: «Con esto sabrán que el Señor me ha enviado a hacer todo esto, y que no las hago por mi propia voluntad.

And Moses saith, `By this ye do know that Jehovah hath sent me to do all these works, that not from my own heart;

29 S i cuando estos hombres sean visitados, mueren como mueren todos los hombres, eso querrá decir que el Señor no me envió.

if according to the death of all men these die -- or the charge of all men is charged upon them -- Jehovah hath not sent me;

30 P ero si el Señor hace algo diferente, y la tierra se abre y se los traga vivos, y bajan al sepulcro junto con todas sus cosas, entonces ustedes sabrán que estos hombres ofendieron al Señor.»

and if a strange thing Jehovah do, and the ground hath opened her mouth and swallowed them, and all that they have, and they have gone down alive to Sheol -- then ye have known that these men have despised Jehovah.'

31 Y en cuanto Moisés terminó de decir todo esto, ¡la tierra se abrió debajo de sus pies!

And it cometh to pass at his finishing speaking all these words, that the ground which under them cleaveth,

32 S e abrió la tierra y se los tragó, a ellos y a sus casas, y a toda la gente de Coré, junto con todos sus bienes.

and the earth openeth her mouth, and swalloweth them, and their houses, and all the men who for Korah, and all the goods,

33 C ayeron vivos al sepulcro, con todo lo que tenían, y la tierra los cubrió. Así perecieron, en medio de la congregación.

and they go down, they, and all that they have, alive to Sheol, and the earth closeth over them, and they perish from the midst of the assembly;

34 A l oír sus gritos, todos los israelitas que estaban a su alrededor huyeron, pues decían: «¡No nos vaya a tragar también la tierra!»

and all Israel who round about them have fled at their voice, for they said, `Lest the earth swallow us;'

35 A demás, de la presencia del Señor salió fuego y consumió a los doscientos cincuenta hombres que ofrecían el incienso.

and fire hath come out from Jehovah, and consumeth the two hundred and fifty men bringing near the perfume.

36 E ntonces el Señor habló con Moisés, y le dijo:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

37 « Dile a Eleazar, el hijo del sacerdote Aarón, que saque los incensarios de en medio del fuego, y que esparza las brasas, porque los incensarios ya han quedado santificados.

`Say unto Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, and he lifteth up the censers from the midst of the burning, and the fire scatter thou yonder, for they have been hallowed,

38 Q ue saque los incensarios de esta gente que pecó contra sí misma, y que haga con ellos unas planchas para recubrir el altar. Los incensarios están ahora santificados, pues fueron presentados delante de mí, y serán una señal a los hijos de Israel.»

the censers of these sinners against their own souls; and they have made them spread-out plates, a covering for the altar, for they have brought them near before Jehovah, and they are hallowed; and they are become a sign to the sons of Israel.'

39 E l sacerdote Eleazar tomó los incensarios de bronce que habían ofrecido los que fueron consumidos por el fuego, y mandó fundirlos para recubrir el altar,

And Eleazar the priest taketh the brazen censers which they who are burnt had brought near, and they spread them out, a covering for the altar --

40 p ara que los hijos de Israel recordaran que nadie que no sea de la descendencia de Aarón puede acercarse a ofrecer incienso delante del Señor, pues le pasaría lo mismo que a Coré y a su grupo, tal y como el Señor lo dijo por medio de Moisés.

a memorial to the sons of Israel, so that a stranger who is not of the seed of Aaron doth not draw near to make a perfume before Jehovah, and is not as Korah, and as his company, -- as Jehovah hath spoken by the hand of Moses to him.

41 A l día siguiente, toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel murmuró contra Moisés y Aarón, y dijo: Ustedes han dado muerte al pueblo del Señor.

And all the company of the sons of Israel murmur, on the morrow, against Moses and against Aaron, saying, `Ye -- ye have put to death the people of Jehovah.'

42 P ero sucedió que, al juntarse la congregación contra Moisés y Aarón, todos miraron hacia el tabernáculo de reunión, ¡y la nube lo había cubierto, y se manifestó la gloria del Señor!

And it cometh to pass, in the company being assembled against Moses and against Aaron, that they turn towards the tent of meeting, and lo, the cloud hath covered it, and the honour of Jehovah is seen;

43 E ntonces Moisés y Aarón se presentaron ante el tabernáculo de reunión,

and Moses cometh -- Aaron also -- unto the front of the tent of meeting.

44 y el Señor le dijo a Moisés:

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

45 « ¡Apártense de esta congregación, que ahora mismo voy a consumirlos!» Ellos se postraron sobre sus rostros,

`Get you up from the midst of this company, and I consume them in a moment;' and they fall on their faces,

46 p ero Moisés le dijo a Aarón: «Toma el incensario, echa fuego del altar en él, y también incienso, y ve enseguida a la congregación y haz expiación por ellos, porque de la presencia del Señor ha salido su furor. ¡La mortandad ha comenzado!»

and Moses saith unto Aaron, `Take the censer, and put on it fire from off the altar, and place perfume, and go, hasten unto the company, and make atonement for them, for the wrath hath gone out from the presence of Jehovah -- the plague hath begun.'

47 A arón tomó el incensario y le puso incienso, tal y como Moisés se lo pidió, y corrió a mezclarse entre la congregación para hacer expiación por ellos, pues ya la mortandad entre el pueblo había comenzado.

And Aaron taketh as Moses hath spoken, and runneth unto the midst of the assembly, and lo, the plague hath begun among the people; and he giveth the perfume, and maketh atonement for the people,

48 A l interponerse entre los muertos y los vivos, cesó la mortandad.

and standeth between the dead and the living, and the plague is restrained;

49 S in embargo, los que murieron a causa de aquella mortandad fueron catorce mil setecientos, sin contar los que murieron por la rebelión de Coré.

and those who die by the plague are fourteen thousand and seven hundred, apart from those who die for the matter of Korah;

50 U na vez que la mortandad cesó, Aarón volvió a la puerta del tabernáculo de reunión, donde estaba Moisés.

and Aaron turneth back unto Moses, unto the opening of the tent of meeting, and the plague hath been restrained.
