1 C uando los hombres comenzaron a multiplicarse por toda la faz de la tierra, y les nacieron hijas,

And it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them,

2 s ucedió que los hijos de Dios vieron que las hijas de los hombres eran hermosas. Entonces tomaron mujeres para sí, las que escogieron de entre ellas.

and sons of God see the daughters of men that they fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen.

3 Y el Señor dijo: «No va a estar mi espíritu peleando siempre con el hombre, pues él no es más que carne. Vivirá hasta ciento veinte años.»

And Jehovah saith, `My Spirit doth not strive in man -- to the age; in their erring they flesh:' and his days have been an hundred and twenty years.

4 E n esos días había gigantes en la tierra, y también después de que los hijos de Dios se unieran a las hijas de los hombres y les engendraran hijos. Éstos fueron los grandes héroes que desde la antigüedad ganaron renombre.

The fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them -- they the heroes, who, from of old, the men of name.

5 E l Señor vio que era mucha la maldad de los hombres en la tierra, y que todos los planes y pensamientos de su corazón eran siempre los de hacer sólo el mal.

And Jehovah seeth that abundant the wickedness of man in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all the day;

6 Y le pesó al Señor haber hecho al hombre en la tierra. Le dolió mucho en el corazón.

and Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself -- unto His heart.

7 Y dijo el Señor: «Borraré de la faz de la tierra al hombre que he creado, lo mismo que a las bestias, los reptiles y las aves del cielo. ¡Me pesa haberlos hecho!»

And Jehovah saith, `I wipe away man whom I have prepared from off the face of the ground, from man unto beast, unto creeping thing, and unto fowl of the heavens, for I have repented that I have made them.'

8 P ero Noé halló gracia a los ojos del Señor. Noé construye el arca

And Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah.

9 N oé era un hombre justo. En sus acciones fue perfecto, pues siempre anduvo con Dios. Éstos fueron sus descendientes:

These births of Noah: Noah a righteous man; perfect he hath been among his generations; with God hath Noah walked habitually.

10 N oé engendró tres hijos, que fueron Sem, Cam y Jafet.

And Noah begetteth three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 D elante de Dios la tierra se corrompió y se llenó de violencia.

And the earth is corrupt before God, and the earth is filled violence.

12 C uando Dios miró la tierra, encontró que estaba corrompida; de hecho, toda carne había corrompido su camino sobre la tierra.

And God seeth the earth, and lo, it hath been corrupted, for all flesh hath corrupted its way on the earth.

13 E ntonces Dios le dijo a Noé: «He decidido acabar con todo ser, pues por causa de ellos la tierra está llena de violencia. ¡Yo los destruiré, junto con la tierra!

And God said to Noah, `An end of all flesh hath come before Me, for the earth hath been full of violence from their presence; and lo, I am destroying them with the earth.

14 H azte un arca de madera de gofer, con aposentos en ella, y recúbrela con brea por dentro y por fuera.

`Make for thyself an ark of gopher-wood; rooms dost thou make with the ark, and thou hast covered it within and without with cypress;

15 H azla de esta manera: su longitud será de ciento treinta y cinco metros, su anchura será de veintidós y medio metros, y su altura de trece y medio metros.

and this that which thou dost with it: three hundred cubits the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height;

16 H azle una ventana, y termínala a medio metro de altura desde la parte de arriba. Pon en su costado la puerta del arca, y hazle un piso inferior, y un segundo y un tercer piso.

a window dost thou make for the ark, and unto a cubit thou dost restrain it from above; and the opening of the ark thou dost put in its side, -- lower, second, and third dost thou make it.

17 Y o voy a traer sobre la tierra un diluvio, y destruiré a todo ser bajo el cielo en que haya hálito de vida. ¡Todo lo que hay en la tierra morirá!

`And I, lo, I am bringing in the deluge of waters on the earth to destroy all flesh, in which a living spirit, from under the heavens; all that in the earth doth expire.

18 P ero contigo estableceré mi pacto, y tú entrarás en el arca, y contigo tus hijos, tu mujer, y las mujeres de tus hijos.

`And I have established My covenant with thee, and thou hast come in unto the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy son's wives with thee;

19 D e todos los seres vivos meterás en el arca dos de cada especie, un macho y una hembra, para que sobrevivan contigo.

and of all that liveth, of all flesh, two of every thou dost bring in unto the ark, to keep alive with thee; male and female are they.

20 D e las aves según su especie, de las bestias según su especie, y de todo reptil de la tierra según su especie, entrarán contigo dos de cada especie, para que sobrevivan.

Of the fowl after its kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every they come in unto thee, to keep alive.

21 L leva contigo de todo aquello que se puede comer, y almacénalo, pues eso les servirá de alimento.»

`And thou, take to thyself of all food that is eaten; and thou hast gathered unto thyself, and it hath been to thee and to them for food.'

22 Y Noé lo hizo así. Todo lo hizo conforme a lo que Dios le ordenó.

And Noah doth according to all that God hath commanded him; so hath he done.
