1 R ecuérdales que se sujeten a los gobernantes y a las autoridades; que obedezcan y que estén dispuestos a toda buena obra.

Remind them to be subject to principalities and authorities, to obey rule, unto every good work to be ready,

2 Q ue no difamen a nadie ni sean pendencieros, sino amables; que muestren toda mansedumbre para con todos los hombres.

of no one to speak evil, not to be quarrelsome -- gentle, showing all meekness to all men,

3 P orque en otro tiempo nosotros también éramos insensatos, rebeldes, extraviados, esclavos de los malos deseos y de diversos deleites; vivíamos en malicia y envidia, nos aborrecían y nos aborrecíamos unos a otros.

for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;

4 P ero cuando se manifestó la bondad de Dios, nuestro Salvador, y su amor para con los hombres,

and when the kindness and the love to men of God our Saviour did appear

5 n os salvó, y no por obras de justicia que nosotros hubiéramos hecho, sino por su misericordia, por el lavamiento de la regeneración y por la renovación en el Espíritu Santo,

(not by works that in righteousness that we did but according to His kindness,) He did save us, through a bathing of regeneration, and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,

6 e l cual derramó en nosotros abundantemente por Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador,

which He poured upon us richly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,

7 p ara que al ser justificados por su gracia viniéramos a ser herederos conforme a la esperanza de la vida eterna.

that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during.

8 É sta es palabra fiel, y en esto quiero que insistas con firmeza, para que los que creen en Dios procuren ocuparse en las buenas obras. Estas cosas son buenas y útiles a los hombres.

Stedfast the word; and concerning these things I counsel thee to affirm fully, that they may be thoughtful, to be leading in good works -- who have believed God; these are the good and profitable things to men,

9 P ero evita las cuestiones necias, las genealogías, las contenciones y las discusiones acerca de la ley, porque son vanas y no son de provecho.

and foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about law, stand away from -- for they are unprofitable and vain.

10 A l que cause divisiones, deséchalo después de una y otra amonestación,

A sectarian man, after a first and second admonition be rejecting,

11 p ues sabrás que tal persona se ha pervertido, y peca y su propio juicio lo condena. Instrucciones personales

having known that he hath been subverted who such, and doth sin, being self-condemned.

12 C uando te envíe a Artemas o a Tíquico, apresúrate a reunirte conmigo en Nicópolis, porque he decidido pasar allí el invierno.

When I shall send Artemas unto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis, for there to winter I have determined.

13 A presúrate también a poner en camino a Zenas, el intérprete de la ley, y a Apolos, y ayúdalos para que nada les falte.

Zenas the lawyer and Apollos bring diligently on their way, that nothing to them may be lacking,

14 Y que aprendan también los nuestros a ocuparse en las buenas obras para los casos de necesidad, para que no se queden sin dar fruto. Salutaciones y bendición final

and let them learn -- ours also -- to be leading in good works to the necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful.

15 T odos los que están conmigo te saludan. Saluda a los que nos aman en la fe. Que la gracia sea con todos ustedes. Amén.
