1 E ntonces Jonás oró al Señor su Dios desde el vientre del pez,

And Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish.

2 y dijo: «Señor, en mi angustia te invoqué, y tú me oíste. Desde el fondo del abismo clamé a ti, y tú escuchaste mi voz.

And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice.

3 M e echaste a las profundidades del mar, y las corrientes me rodearon; ¡todas tus ondas y tus olas pasaron sobre mí!

When Thou dost cast me the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.

4 E ntonces dije: “Me has desechado delante de tus ojos, pero todavía he de ver tu santo templo.”

And I -- I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)

5 L as aguas me rodearon hasta el cuello, y el abismo me envolvió. ¡Las algas se enredaron en mi cabeza!

Compassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head.

6 B ajé hasta los cimientos de los montes; la tierra echó para siempre sus cerrojos sobre mí; pero tú, mi Señor y Dios, rescataste mi vida del sepulcro.

To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.

7 C uando dentro de mí desfallecía mi alma, me acordé de ti, Señor, Y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo templo.

In the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple.

8 L os que siguen vanidades ilusorias, abandonan tu misericordia.

Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake.

9 P ero yo, con voz de alabanza, te ofreceré sacrificios y cumpliré mis promesas. La salvación es tuya, Señor.»

And I -- with a voice of thanksgiving -- I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation of Jehovah.

10 Y el Señor ordenó al pez que vomitara a Jonás en tierra.

And Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land.
