1 E ntonces oró Jonás a Jehová, su Dios, desde el vientre del pez,

And Jonah prayeth unto Jehovah his God from the bowels of the fish.

2 y dijo: «Invoqué en mi angustia a Jehová, y él me oyó; desde el seno del seol clamé, y mi voz oíste.

And he saith: I called, because of my distress, to Jehovah, And He doth answer me, From the belly of sheol I have cried, Thou hast heard my voice.

3 M e echaste a lo profundo, en medio de los mares; me envolvió la corriente. Todas tus ondas y tus olas pasaron sobre mí.

When Thou dost cast me the deep, Into the heart of the seas, Then the flood doth compass me, All Thy breakers and Thy billows have passed over me.

4 E ntonces dije: “Desechado soy de delante de tus ojos, mas aún veré tu santo Templo.”

And I -- I said: I have been cast out from before Thine eyes, (Yet I add to look unto Thy holy temple!)

5 L as aguas me envolvieron hasta el alma, me cercó el abismo, el alga se enredó en mi cabeza.

Compassed me have waters unto the soul, The deep doth compass me, The weed is bound to my head.

6 D escendí a los cimientos de los montes. La tierra echó sus cerrojos sobre mí para siempre; mas tú sacaste mi vida de la sepultura, Jehová, Dios mío.

To the cuttings of mountains I have come down, The earth, her bars behind me to the age. And Thou bringest up from the pit my life, O Jehovah my God.

7 C uando mi alma desfallecía en mí, me acordé de Jehová, y mi oración llegó hasta ti, hasta tu santo Templo.

In the feebleness within me of my soul Jehovah I have remembered, And come in unto Thee doth my prayer, Unto Thy holy temple.

8 L os que siguen vanidades ilusorias, su fidelidad abandonan.

Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake.

9 M as yo, con voz de alabanza, te ofreceré sacrificios; cumpliré lo que te prometí. ¡La salvación viene de Jehová!»

And I -- with a voice of thanksgiving -- I sacrifice to Thee, That which I have vowed I complete, Salvation of Jehovah.

10 E ntonces Jehová dio orden al pez, el cual vomitó a Jonás en tierra.

And Jehovah saith to the fish, and it vomiteth out Jonah on the dry land.
