1 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

2 « Hijo de hombre, da a conocer a Jerusalén sus abominaciones,

`Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, and thou hast said:

3 y dile: “Así ha dicho Jehová el Señor sobre Jerusalén: Tu origen, tu nacimiento, es de la tierra de Canaán; tu padre fue un amorreo y tu madre una hetea.

Thus said the Lord Jehovah to Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity of the land of the Canaanite, Thy father the Amorite, and thy mother a Hittite.

4 Y en cuanto a tu nacimiento, el día que naciste no fue cortado tu cordón umbilical, ni fuiste lavada con aguas para limpiarte ni frotada con sal, ni fuiste envuelta en pañales.

As to thy nativity, in the day thou wast born, Thou -- thy navel hath not been cut, And in water thou wast not washed for ease, And thou hast not been salted at all, And thou hast not been swaddled at all.

5 N o hubo ojo que se compadeciera de ti para hacerte algo de eso, sintiendo lástima por ti; sino que fuiste arrojada sobre la faz del campo, con menosprecio de tu vida, en el día que naciste.

No eye hath had pity on thee, to do to thee any of these, To have compassion on thee, And thou art cast on the face of the field, With loathing of thy person. In the day thou hast been born -- thou!

6 » ”Yo pasé junto a ti y te vi sucia en tus sangres. Y cuando estabas en tus sangres te dije: ‘¡Vive!’ Sí, te dije, cuando estabas en tus sangres: ‘¡Vive!’

And I do pass over by thee, And I see thee trodden down in thy blood, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live, And I say to thee in thy blood, Live.

7 T e hice crecer como la hierba del campo; creciste, te hiciste grande y llegaste a ser muy hermosa. Tus pechos se habían formado y tu pelo había crecido, ¡pero estabas desnuda por completo!

A myriad -- as the shoot of the field I have made thee, And thou art multiplied, and art great, And comest in with an excellent adornment, Breasts have been formed, and thy hair hath grown -- And thou, naked and bare!

8 » ”Pasé otra vez junto a ti y te miré, y he aquí que tu tiempo era tiempo de amores. Entonces extendí mi manto sobre ti y cubrí tu desnudez; te hice juramento y entré en pacto contigo, dice Jehová, el Señor, y fuiste mía.

And I pass over by thee, and I see thee, And lo, thy time a time of loves, And I spread My skirt over thee, And I cover thy nakedness, And I swear to thee, and come in to a covenant with thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And thou dost become Mine.

9 T e lavé con agua, lavé tus sangres de encima de ti y te ungí con aceite.

And I do wash thee with water, And I wash away thy blood from off thee, And I anoint thee with perfume.

10 L uego te puse un vestido bordado, te calcé de tejón, te ceñí de lino y te cubrí de seda.

And I clothe thee with embroidery, And I shoe thee with badger's skin, And I gird thee with fine linen, And I cover thee with figured silk.

11 T e atavié con adornos, puse brazaletes en tus brazos y un collar en tu cuello.

And I adorn thee with adornments, And I give bracelets for thy hands, And a chain for thy neck.

12 P use joyas en tu nariz, zarcillos en tus orejas y una hermosa corona en tu cabeza.

And I give a ring for thy nose, And rings for thine ears, And a crown of beauty on thy head.

13 A sí fuiste adornada de oro y de plata, y tu vestido bordado era de lino fino y seda. Comiste flor de harina de trigo, miel y aceite. Fuiste embellecida en extremo y prosperaste hasta llegar a reinar.

And thou dost put on gold and silver, And thy clothing fine linen, And figured silk and embroidery, Fine flour, and honey, and oil thou hast eaten, And thou art very very beautiful, And dost go prosperously to the kingdom.

14 T u fama se difundió entre las naciones a causa de tu belleza, que era perfecta por el esplendor que yo puse sobre ti, dice Jehová, el Señor.

And go forth doth thy name among nations, Because of thy beauty -- for it complete, In My honour that I have set upon thee, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

15 » ”Pero confiaste en tu belleza, te prostituiste a causa de tu fama y derramaste tu lujuria sobre cuantos pasaban. ¡Suya fuiste!

And thou dost trust in thy beauty, And goest a-whoring because of thy renown, And dost pour out thy whoredoms On every passer by -- to him it is.

16 T omaste de tus vestidos, te hiciste diversos lugares altos y fornicaste sobre ellos. ¡Cosa semejante nunca había sucedido ni volverá a suceder!

And thou dost take of thy garments, And dost make to thee spotted high-places, And dost go a-whoring upon them, They are not coming in -- nor shall it be!

17 T omaste asimismo tus hermosas alhajas de oro y de plata, que yo te había dado, te hiciste imágenes de hombre y fornicaste con ellas.

And thou dost take thy beauteous vessels Of My gold and My silver that I gave to thee, And dost make to thee images of a male, And dost go a-whoring with them,

18 T omaste tus vestidos de diversos colores y las cubriste, y mi aceite y mi incienso pusiste delante de ellas.

And dost take the garments of thy embroidery, And thou dost cover them, And My oil and My perfume thou hast set before them.

19 M i pan también, que yo te había dado, la flor de harina, el aceite y la miel, con lo que yo te mantuve, lo pusiste delante de ellas para olor agradable; y fue así, dice Jehová, el Señor.

And My bread, that I gave to thee, Fine flour, and oil, and honey, that I caused thee to eat. Thou hast even set it before them, For a sweet fragrance -- thus it is, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

20 A demás de esto, tomaste tus hijos y tus hijas que habías dado a luz para mí, y los sacrificaste a ellas para que fueran consumidos. ¿Eran poca cosa tus fornicaciones,

And thou dost take thy sons and thy daughters Whom thou hast born to Me, And dost sacrifice them to them for food. Is it a little thing because of thy whoredoms,

21 q ue degollaste también a mis hijos y los ofreciste a aquellas imágenes como ofrenda que el fuego consumía?

That thou dost slaughter My sons, And dost give them up in causing them to pass over to them?

22 Y con todas tus abominaciones y tus fornicaciones no te has acordado de los días de tu juventud, cuando estabas desnuda por completo, cuando estabas envuelta en tu sangre.

And with all thine abominations and thy whoredoms, Thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, When thou wast naked and bare, Trodden down in thy blood thou wast!

23 » ”Y sucedió que después de toda tu maldad (¡ay, ay de ti!, dice Jehová, el Señor),

And it cometh to pass, after all thy wickedness, (Wo, wo, to thee -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah),

24 t e edificaste lugares altos y te hiciste altar en todas las plazas.

That thou dost build to thee an arch, And dost make to thee a high place in every broad place.

25 E n cada cabecera de camino edificaste un lugar alto e hiciste abominable tu hermosura: te ofreciste a cuantos pasaban y multiplicaste tus fornicaciones.

At every head of the way thou hast built thy high place, And thou dost make thy beauty abominable, And dost open wide thy feet to every passer by, And dost multiply thy whoredoms,

26 F ornicaste con los hijos de Egipto, tus vecinos, robustos de cuerpo; y aumentaste tus fornicaciones para enojarme.

And dost go a-whoring unto sons of Egypt, Thy neighbours -- great of appetite! And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms, To provoke Me to anger.

27 P or tanto, he aquí que yo extendí contra ti mi mano y disminuí tu provisión ordinaria. Te entregué a la voluntad de las hijas de los filisteos, que te aborrecen y se avergüenzan de tu conducta indecente.

And lo, I have stretched out My hand against thee, And I diminish thy portion, And give thee to the desire of those hating thee, The daughters of the Philistines, Who are ashamed of thy wicked way.

28 F ornicaste también con los asirios, por no haberte saciado; fornicaste con ellos y tampoco te saciaste.

And thou goest a-whoring unto sons of Asshur, Without thy being satisfied, And thou dost go a-whoring with them, And also -- thou hast not been satisfied.

29 M ultiplicaste asimismo tu fornicación en la tierra de Canaán y de los caldeos, y tampoco con esto te saciaste.

And thou dost multiply thy whoredoms On the land of Canaan -- toward Chaldea, And even with this thou hast not been satisfied.

30 » ”¡Cuán inconstante es tu corazón, dice Jehová, el Señor, habiendo hecho todas estas cosas, obras de una prostituta desvergonzada,

How weak thy heart, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, In thy doing all these, The work of a domineering whorish woman.

31 e dificando tus lugares altos en cada cabecera de camino y levantando tus altares en todas las plazas! Pero no fuiste semejante a una prostituta en que menospreciaste la paga.

In thy building thine arch at the head of every way, Thy high place thou hast made in every broad place, And -- hast not been as a whore deriding a gift.

32 F uiste como la mujer adúltera que en lugar de su marido recibe a extraños.

The wife who committeth adultery -- Under her husband -- doth receive strangers.

33 A todas las prostitutas les dan regalos; pero tú diste tus regalos a todos tus amantes. Les diste presentes, para que de todas partes vinieran a ti en tus fornicaciones.

To all whores they give a gift, And -- thou hast given thy gifts to all thy lovers, And dost bribe them to come in unto thee, From round about -- in thy whoredoms.

34 Y ha sucedido contigo, en tus fornicaciones, lo contrario de las demás mujeres: porque ninguno te ha solicitado para fornicar, y tú das la paga, en lugar de recibirla; por eso has sido diferente.

And the contrary is in thee from women in thy whoredoms, That after thee none doth go a-whoring; And in thy giving a gift, And a gift hath not been given to thee; And thou art become contrary.

35 » ”Por tanto, prostituta, oye palabra de Jehová.

Therefore, O whore, hear a word of Jehovah,

36 A sí dice Jehová, el Señor: Por cuanto han sido descubiertas tus desnudeces en tus fornicaciones, y tu vergüenza ha sido manifestada a tus amantes y a los ídolos de tus abominaciones, y en la sangre de tus hijos, los cuales les diste,

Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because of thy brass being poured forth, And thy nakedness is revealed in thy whoredoms near thy lovers, And near all the idols of thy abominations, And according to the blood of thy sons, Whom thou hast given to them;

37 p or eso, yo reuniré a todos tus amantes con los cuales tuviste placer, y a todos los que amaste, y también a todos los que aborreciste. Los reuniré alrededor de ti, y delante de ellos descubriré tu desnudez, y ellos verán toda tu desnudez.

Therefore, lo, I am assembling all thy lovers, To whom thou hast been sweet, And all whom thou hast loved, Besides all whom thou hast hated; And I have assembled them by thee round about, And have revealed thy nakedness to them, And they have seen all thy nakedness.

38 Y o te juzgaré por las leyes de las adúlteras y de las que derraman sangre, y traeré sobre ti sangre de ira y de celos.

And I have judged thee -- judgments of adultresses, And of women shedding blood, And have given thee blood, fury, and jealousy.

39 T e entregaré en manos de ellos, y ellos destruirán tus lugares altos y derribarán tus altares. Te despojarán de tus ropas, se llevarán tus hermosas alhajas y te dejarán desnuda por completo.

And I have given thee into their hand, And they have thrown down thine arch, And they have broken down thy high places, And they have stript thee of thy garments, And they have taken thy beauteous vessels, And they have left thee naked and bare.

40 H arán subir contra ti una muchedumbre de gente, que te apedreará y te atravesará con sus espadas.

And have caused an assembly to come up against thee, And stoned thee with stones, And thrust thee through with their swords,

41 I ncendiarán tus casas, y harán en ti juicios en presencia de muchas mujeres. Así haré que dejes de ser una prostituta y que ceses de prodigar tus favores.

And burnt thy houses with fire, And done in thee judgments before the eyes of many women, And I have caused thee to cease from going a-whoring, And also a gift thou givest no more.

42 A sí saciaré mi ira sobre ti, se apartará de ti mi celo y descansaré para no volver a enojarme.

And I have caused My fury against thee to rest, And My jealousy hath turned aside from thee, And I have been quiet, and I am not angry any more.

43 P or cuanto no te acordaste de los días de tu juventud y me provocaste a ira en todo esto, por eso, yo también traeré tu conducta sobre tu propia cabeza, dice Jehová, el Señor; pues ni aun has pensado sobre toda tu lujuria.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, And dost give trouble to Me in all these, Lo, even I also thy way at first gave up, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, And I did not this thought for all thine abominations.

44 » ”He aquí, todo el que usa de refranes te aplicará a ti el refrán que dice: ‘Cual la madre, tal la hija.’

Lo, every one using a simile, Doth use a simile concerning thee, saying: As the mother -- her daughter!

45 H ija eres tú de tu madre, que desechó a su marido y a sus hijos; y hermana eres de tus hermanas, que desecharon a sus maridos y a sus hijos; vuestra madre fue una hetea y vuestro padre un amorreo.

Thy mother's daughter thou, Loathing her husband and her sons, And thy sisters' sister thou, Who loathed their husbands and their sons, Your mother a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.

46 T u hermana mayor es Samaria, ella y sus hijas, que habitan al norte de ti; y tu hermana menor es Sodoma con sus hijas, la cual habita al sur de ti.

And thine elder sister Samaria, she and her daughters, Who is dwelling at thy left hand, And thy younger sister, who is dwelling on thy right hand, Sodom and her daughters.

47 N i aun anduviste en sus caminos ni hiciste según sus abominaciones; antes, como si esto fuera poco, y muy poco, te corrompiste más que ellas en todos tus caminos.

And -- in their ways thou hast not walked, And according to their abominations done, As a little thing it hath been loathed, And thou dost more corruptly than they in all thy ways.

48 V ivo yo, dice Jehová, el Señor, que tu hermana Sodoma y sus hijas no han hecho como hiciste tú y tus hijas.

I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done -- she and her daughters -- As thou hast done -- thou and thy daughters.

49 É sta fue la maldad de Sodoma, tu hermana: soberbia, pan de sobra y abundancia de ocio tuvieron ella y sus hijas; y no fortaleció la mano del afligido y del necesitado.

Lo, this hath been the iniquity of Sodom thy sister, Arrogancy, fulness of bread, and quiet ease, Have been to her and to her daughters, And the hand of the afflicted and needy She hath not strengthened.

50 S e llenaron de soberbia e hicieron abominación delante de mí, y cuando lo vi, las quité.

And they are haughty and do abomination before Me, And I turn them aside when I have seen.

51 S in embargo, Samaria no cometió ni la mitad de tus pecados; porque tú multiplicaste tus abominaciones más que ellas, y has justificado a tus hermanas con todas las abominaciones que hiciste.

As to Samaria, as the half of thy sins -- she hath not sinned, And thou dost multiply thine abominations more than they, And dost justify thy sisters by all thy abominations that thou hast done.

52 T ú también, que juzgaste a tus hermanas, lleva tu vergüenza en los pecados que cometiste, más abominables que los de ellas. ¡Más justas son que tú! Avergüénzate, pues, tú también, y carga con tu ignominia, por cuanto has justificado a tus hermanas.

Thou also -- bear thy shame, That thou hast adjudged to thy sisters, Because of thy sins that thou hast done more abominably than they, They are more righteous than thou, And thou, also, be ashamed and bear thy shame, In thy justifying thy sisters.

53 » ”Yo, pues, haré volver a sus cautivos, los cautivos de Sodoma y de sus hijas, y los cautivos de Samaria y de sus hijas, y haré volver los cautivos de tus cautiverios entre ellas,

And I have turned back their captivity, The captivity of Sodom and her daughters, And the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, And the captivity of thy captives in their midst,

54 p ara que cargues con tu ignominia y te avergüences de todo lo que has hecho, siendo tú motivo de consuelo para ellas.

So that thou dost bear thy shame, And hast been ashamed of all that thou hast done, In thy comforting them.

55 T us hermanas: Sodoma con sus hijas y Samaria con sus hijas, volverán a su primer estado. También tú y tus hijas volveréis a vuestro primer estado.

And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, Do turn back to their former state, And Samaria and her daughters Do turn back to their former state, And thou and thy daughters do turn back to your former state.

56 T u hermana Sodoma no era digna de mención en tu boca en el tiempo de tus soberbias,

And thy sister Sodom hath not been for a report in thy mouth, In the day of thine arrogancy,

57 a ntes que tu maldad fuera descubierta. Así también, ahora llevas tú la afrenta de las hijas de Siria y de todas las hijas de los filisteos, las cuales por todos lados te desprecian.

Before thy wickedness is revealed, As the time of the reproach of the daughters of Aram, And of all her neighbours, the daughters of the Philistines, Who are despising thee round about.

58 S ufre tú el castigo de tu lujuria y de tus abominaciones, dice Jehová.

Thy devices and thine abominations, Thou hast borne them, an affirmation of Jehovah.

59 » ”Pero aún más ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: Yo no haré contigo como tú hiciste, que menospreciaste el juramento para invalidar el pacto.

For thus said the Lord Jehovah: I have dealt with thee as thou hast done, In that thou hast despised an oath -- to break covenant.

60 A ntes bien, yo tendré memoria de mi pacto que concerté contigo en los días de tu juventud, y estableceré contigo un pacto eterno.

And I -- I have remembered My covenant with thee, In the days of thy youth, And I have established for thee a covenant age-during.

61 T e acordarás de tu conducta, y te avergonzarás cuando recibas a tus hermanas, las mayores que tú y las menores que tú, las cuales yo te daré por hijas, aunque no por tu pacto,

And thou hast remembered thy ways, And thou hast been ashamed, In thy receiving thy sisters -- Thine elder with thy younger, And I have given them to thee for daughters, And not by thy covenant.

62 s ino por mi pacto que confirmaré contigo. Y sabrás que yo soy Jehová;

And I -- I have established My covenant with thee, And thou hast known that I Jehovah.

63 p ara que te acuerdes y te avergüences, y nunca más abras la boca, a causa de tu vergüenza, cuando yo perdone todo lo que hiciste, dice Jehová, el Señor.”»

So that thou dost remember, And thou hast been ashamed, And there is not to thee any more an opening of the mouth because of thy shame, In My receiving atonement for thee, For all that thou hast done, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah!'
