1 E ntonces Ana oró y dijo: «Mi corazón se regocija en Jehová, mi poder se exalta en Jehová; mi boca se ríe de mis enemigos, por cuanto me alegré en tu salvación.

And Hannah prayeth, and saith: `My heart hath exulted in Jehovah, My horn hath been high in Jehovah, My mouth hath been large over mine enemies, For I have rejoiced in Thy salvation.

2 N o hay santo como Jehová; porque no hay nadie fuera de ti ni refugio como el Dios nuestro.

There is none holy like Jehovah, For there is none save Thee, And there is no rock like our God.

3 N o multipliquéis las palabras de orgullo y altanería; cesen las palabras arrogantes de vuestra boca, porque Jehová es el Dios que todo lo sabe y a él le toca pesar las acciones.

Ye multiply not -- ye speak haughtily -- The old saying goeth out from your mouth, For a God of knowledge Jehovah, And by Him actions are weighed.

4 L os arcos de los fuertes se han quebrado y los débiles se ciñen de vigor.

Bows of the mighty are broken, And the stumbling have girded on strength.

5 L os saciados se alquilan por pan y los hambrientos dejan de tener hambre; hasta la estéril da a luz siete veces, mas la que tenía muchos hijos languidece.

The satiated for bread hired themselves, And the hungry have ceased. While the barren hath borne seven, And she abounding with sons hath languished.

6 J ehová da la muerte y la vida; hace descender al seol y retornar.

Jehovah putteth to death, and keepeth alive, He bringeth down to Sheol, and bringeth up.

7 J ehová empobrece y enriquece, abate y enaltece.

Jehovah dispossesseth, and He maketh rich, He maketh low, yea, He maketh high.

8 É l levanta del polvo al pobre; alza del basurero al menesteroso, para hacerlo sentar con príncipes y heredar un sitio de honor. Porque de Jehová son las columnas de la tierra; él afirmó sobre ellas el mundo.

He raiseth from the dust the poor, From a dunghill He lifteth up the needy, To cause to sit with nobles, Yea, a throne of honour He doth cause them to inherit, For to Jehovah the fixtures of earth, And He setteth on them the habitable world.

9 É l guarda los pies de sus santos, mas los impíos perecen en tinieblas; porque nadie será fuerte por su propia fuerza.

The feet of His saints He keepeth, And the wicked in darkness are silent, For not by power doth man become mighty.

10 D elante de Jehová serán quebrantados sus adversarios y sobre ellos tronará desde los cielos. Jehová juzgará los confines de la tierra, dará poder a su Rey y exaltará el poderío de su Ungido.»

Jehovah -- broken down are His adversaries, Against them in the heavens He thundereth: Jehovah judgeth the ends of earth, And giveth strength to His king, And exalteth the horn of His anointed.'

11 L uego Elcana regresó a su casa en Ramá, y el niño se quedó para servir a Jehová junto al sacerdote Elí. Impiedad de los hijos de Elí

And Elkanah goeth to Ramath, unto his house, and the youth hath been serving Jehovah, the presence of Eli the priest;

12 L os hijos de Elí eran hombres impíos, que no tenían conocimiento de Jehová.

and the sons of Eli sons of worthlessness, they have not known Jehovah.

13 Y era costumbre de los sacerdotes con el pueblo, que cuando alguien ofrecía sacrificio, mientras se cocía la carne, venía el criado del sacerdote trayendo en su mano un garfio de tres dientes

And the custom of the priests with the people: any man sacrificing a sacrifice -- then hath the servant of the priest come in when the flesh is boiling, and the hook of three teeth in his hand,

14 y lo metía en el perol, en la olla, en el caldero o en la marmita; y todo lo que sacaba el garfio, el sacerdote lo tomaba para sí. De esta manera hacían con todo israelita que venía a Silo.

and hath struck into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the hook bringeth up doth the priest take for himself; thus they do to all Israel who are coming in, there, in Shiloh.

15 A simismo, antes de quemar la grasa, venía el criado del sacerdote y decía al que sacrificaba: «Dame carne para asársela al sacerdote; porque no aceptará de ti carne cocida sino cruda.»

Also before they make perfume with the fat -- then hath the priest's servant come in, and said to the man who is sacrificing, `Give flesh to roast for the priest, and he doth not take of thee flesh boiled, but raw;'

16 Y si el hombre le respondía: «Hay que quemar la grasa primero, y después toma tanto como quieras», él decía: «No, dámela ahora mismo; de otra manera la tomaré por la fuerza.»

and the man saith unto him, `Let them surely make a perfume (as to-day) with the fat, then take to thee as thy soul desireth;' and he hath said to him, `Surely now thou dost give; and if not -- I have taken by strength.'

17 A sí pues, el pecado de estos ayudantes era muy grande ante Jehová, porque menospreciaban las ofrendas de Jehová.

And the sin of the young men is very great the presence of Jehovah, for the men have despised the offering of Jehovah.

18 Y el joven Samuel servía en la presencia de Jehová, vestido de un efod de lino.

And Samuel is ministering the presence of Jehovah, a youth girt an ephod of linen;

19 S u madre le hacía una pequeña túnica y se la traía cada año, cuando subía con su marido para ofrecer el sacrificio acostumbrado.

and a small upper coat doth his mother make to him, and she hath brought it up to him from time to time, in her coming up with her husband to sacrifice the sacrifice of the time.

20 E ntonces Elí bendecía a Elcana y a su mujer diciendo: «Jehová te dé hijos de esta mujer en lugar del que pidió a Jehová.» Luego regresaban a su casa.

And Eli blessed Elkanah, and his wife, and said, `Jehovah doth appoint for thee seed of this woman, for the petition which she asked for Jehovah;' and they have gone to their place.

21 V isitó Jehová a Ana y ella concibió; y dio a luz tres hijos y dos hijas. Y el joven Samuel crecía delante de Jehová.

When Jehovah hath looked after Hannah, then she conceiveth and beareth three sons and two daughters; and the youth Samuel groweth up with Jehovah.

22 E lí era muy viejo, pero cuando supo lo que sus hijos hacían con todo Israel y cómo dormían con las mujeres que velaban a la puerta del Tabernáculo de reunión,

And Eli very old, and hath heard all that his sons do to all Israel, and how that they lie with the women who are assembling the opening of the tent of meeting,

23 l es dijo: «¿Por qué hacéis cosas semejantes? Oigo hablar a todo este pueblo vuestro mal proceder.

and he saith to them, `Why do ye things like these? for I am hearing of your evil words from all the people -- these!

24 N o, hijos míos, porque no es buena fama la que yo oigo, pues hacéis pecar al pueblo de Jehová.

Nay, my sons; for the report which I am hearing is not good causing the people of Jehovah to transgress. --

25 S i peca el hombre contra el hombre, los jueces lo juzgarán; pero si alguno peca contra Jehová, ¿quién rogará por él?» Pero ellos no oyeron la voz de su padre, porque Jehová había resuelto hacerlos morir.

If a man sin against a man, then hath God judged him; but if against Jehovah a man sin, who doth pray for him?' and they hearken not to the voice of their father, though Jehovah hath delighted to put them to death.

26 M ientras tanto, el joven Samuel iba creciendo y haciéndose grato delante de Dios y delante de los hombres.

And the youth Samuel is going on and growing up, and good both with Jehovah, and also with men.

27 V ino un varón de Dios ante Elí, y le dijo: «Así ha dicho Jehová: “¿No me manifesté yo claramente a la casa de tu padre cuando estaban en Egipto en la casa del faraón?

And there cometh a man of God unto Eli, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah, Was I really revealed unto the house of thy father in their being in Egypt, before Pharaoh's house,

28 L o escogí para que fuera mi sacerdote entre todas las tribus de Israel, para que ofreciera sobre mi altar, quemara incienso y llevara efod delante de mí. Yo concedí a la casa de tu padre todas las ofrendas de los hijos de Israel.

even to choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to Me for a priest, to go up on Mine altar, to make a perfume, to bear an ephod before Me, and I give to the house of thy father all the fire-offerings of the sons of Israel?

29 ¿ Por qué habéis pisoteado los sacrificios y las ofrendas que yo mandé ofrecer en el Tabernáculo? ¿Por qué has honrado a tus hijos más que a mí, haciéndolos engordar con lo principal de todas las ofrendas de mi pueblo Israel?”

Why do ye kick at My sacrifice, and at Mine offering which I commanded My habitation, and dost honour thy sons above Me, to make yourselves fat from the first part of every offering of Israel, of My people?

30 P or eso Jehová, el Dios de Israel, dice: “Yo había prometido que tu casa y la casa de tu padre andarían siempre delante de mí”; pero ahora ha dicho Jehová: “Nunca haga yo tal cosa, porque yo honro a los que me honran, y los que me desprecian serán tenidos en poco.

`Therefore -- the affirmation of Jehovah, God of Israel -- I certainly said, Thy house and the house of thy father, do walk up and down before Me to the age; and now -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- Far be it from Me! for he who is honouring Me, I honour, and those despising Me, are lightly esteemed.

31 V ienen días en que cortaré tu brazo y el brazo de la casa de tu padre, de modo que no haya ancianos en tu casa.

`Lo, days coming, and I have cut off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, that an old man is not in thy house;

32 V erás tu casa humillada, mientras Dios colma de bienes a Israel, de manera que nunca habrá ancianos en tu casa.

and thou hast beheld an adversary habitation, in all that He doth good with Israel, and there is not an old man in thy house all the days.

33 A quel de los tuyos a quien yo no excluya del servicio de mi altar, será para que se consuman tus ojos y se llene tu alma de dolor; y todos los nacidos en tu casa morirán en la plenitud de la edad.

`And the man I cut not off of thine from Mine altar, to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thy soul; and all the increase of thy house do die men;

34 T e será por señal esto que acontecerá a tus dos hijos, Ofni y Finees: ambos morirán el mismo día.

and this to thee the sign that cometh unto thy two sons, unto Hophni and Phinehas -- in one day they die both of them;

35 E n cambio, yo me suscitaré un sacerdote fiel, que obre conforme a mi corazón y mis deseos; le edificaré casa firme y andará delante de mi ungido todos los días.

and I have raised up for Me a stedfast priest; as in My heart and in My soul he doth do; and I have built for him a stedfast house, and he hath walked up and down before Mine anointed all the days;

36 E l que haya quedado en tu casa vendrá a postrarse delante de él por una moneda de plata y un bocado de pan, y le dirá: ‘Te ruego que me agregues a alguno de los servicios sacerdotales para que pueda comer un bocado de pan.’”»

and it hath been, every one who is left in thy house doth come in to bow himself to him, for a wage of silver, and a cake of bread, and hath said, Admit me, I pray thee, unto one of the priest's offices, to eat a morsel of bread.'
