1 A penas había pasado David un poco más allá de la cumbre del monte, cuando Siba, el criado de Mefi-boset, salió a recibirlo con un par de asnos ensillados y cargados con doscientos panes, cien racimos de pasas, cien panes de higos secos y un cuero de vino.

And David hath passed on a little from the top, and lo, Ziba, servant of Mephibosheth -- to meet him, and a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and a hundred summer-fruit, and a bottle of wine.

2 E l rey preguntó a Siba: —¿Para qué es esto? Y Siba respondió: —Los asnos son para que monte la familia del rey, los panes y las pasas para que coman los criados, y el vino para que beban los que se cansen en el desierto.

And the king saith unto Ziba, `What -- these to thee?' and Ziba saith, `The asses for the household of the king to ride on, and the bread and the summer-fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine for the wearied to drink in the wilderness.'

3 — ¿Dónde está el hijo de tu señor? —preguntó el rey. Siba respondió: —Se ha quedado en Jerusalén, porque ha dicho: “Hoy me devolverá la casa de Israel el reino de mi padre.”

And the king saith, `And where the son of thy lord?' and Ziba saith unto the king, `Lo, he is abiding in Jerusalem, for he said, To-day do the house of Israel give back to me the kingdom of my father.'

4 — Sea tuyo todo lo que tiene Mefi-boset —dijo el rey a Siba. Inclinándose respondió Siba: —Rey y señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de ti.

And the king saith to Ziba, `Lo, thine all that Mephibosheth hath;' and Ziba saith, `I have bowed myself -- I find grace in thine eyes, my lord, O king.'

5 C uando el rey David llegó a Bahurim, salía uno de la familia de la casa de Saúl, el cual se llamaba Simei hijo de Gera. Iba maldiciendo

And king David hath come in unto Bahurim, and lo, thence a man is coming out, of the family of the house of Saul, and his name Shimei, son of Gera, he cometh out, coming out and reviling;

6 y arrojando piedras contra David y contra todos los siervos del rey David, mientras todo el pueblo y todos los hombres valientes marchaban a su derecha y a su izquierda.

and he stoneth David with stones, and all the servants of king David, and all the people, and all the mighty men on his right and on his left.

7 S imei lo maldecía diciendo: «¡Fuera, fuera, hombre sanguinario y perverso!

And thus said Shimei in his reviling, `Go out, go out, O man of blood, and man of worthlessness!

8 J ehová te ha dado el pago por toda la sangre de la casa de Saúl, en lugar del cual tú has reinado, y Jehová ha entregado el reino en manos de tu hijo Absalón; has sido sorprendido en tu maldad, porque eres un hombre sanguinario.»

Jehovah hath turned back on thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose stead thou hast reigned, and Jehovah doth give the kingdom in to the hand of Absalom thy son; and lo, thou in thine evil, for a man of blood thou.'

9 E ntonces Abisai hijo de Sarvia dijo al rey: —¿Por qué maldice este perro muerto a mi señor, el rey? Te ruego que me dejes pasar, y le cortaré la cabeza.

And Abishai son of Zeruiah saith unto the king, `Why doth this dead dog revile my lord the king? let me pass over, I pray thee, and I turn aside his head.'

10 E l rey respondió: —¿Qué tengo yo que ver con vosotros, hijos de Sarvia? Si él así maldice, es porque Jehová le ha dicho que maldiga a David. ¿Quién, pues, le dirá por qué lo hace?”

And the king saith, `What -- to me and to you, O sons of Zeruiah? for -- let him revile; even because Jehovah hath said to him, Revile David; and who saith, Wherefore hast Thou done so?'

11 L uego dijo David a Abisai y a todos sus siervos: —Mirad, mi hijo, salido de mis entrañas, acecha mi vida; ¿cuánto más ahora un hijo de Benjamín? Dejadlo que maldiga, pues Jehová se lo ha mandado.

And David saith unto Abishai, and unto all his servants, `Lo, my son who came out of my bowels is seeking my life, and also surely now the Benjamite; leave him alone, and let him revile, for Jehovah hath said to him;

12 A caso Jehová mire mi aflicción y cambie en bien sus maldiciones de hoy.

it may be Jehovah doth look on mine affliction, and Jehovah hath turned back to me good for his reviling this day.'

13 Y mientras David y los suyos continuaban su camino, Simei iba frente a él por la ladera del monte, andando y maldiciendo, arrojando piedras delante de él y esparciendo polvo.

And David goeth with his men in the way, and Shimei is going at the side of the hill over-against him, going on, and he revileth, and stoneth with stones over-against him, and hath dusted with dust.

14 E l rey y todo el pueblo que con él estaba llegaron fatigados y descansaron allí.

And the king cometh in, and all the people who with him, wearied, and they are refreshed there.

15 A bsalón y toda su gente, los hombres de Israel, entraron en Jerusalén, y Ahitofel lo acompañaba.

And Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, have come in to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him,

16 C uando Husai, el arquita, amigo de David, llegó adonde estaba Absalón, dijo: —¡Viva el rey, viva el rey!

and it cometh to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, hath come unto Absalom, that Hushai saith unto Absalom, `Let the king live! let the king live!'

17 P ero Absalón respondió a Husai: —¿Es éste tu agradecimiento para con tu amigo? ¿Por qué no fuiste con tu amigo?

And Absalom saith unto Hushai, `This thy kindness with thy friend! why hast thou not gone with thy friend?'

18 E ntonces Husai dijo a Absalón: —No, yo estaré y me quedaré con aquel que haya elegido Jehová y también este pueblo y todos los hombres de Israel.

And Hushai saith unto Absalom, `Nay, for he whom Jehovah hath chosen, and this people, even all the men of Israel, his I am, and with him I abide;

19 ¿ A quién había yo de servir? ¿No es a su hijo? Como he servido delante de tu padre, así lo haré delante de ti.

and secondly, for whom do I labour? is it not before his son? as I served before thy father so am I before thee.'

20 L uego Absalón dijo a Ahitofel: —Dad vuestro consejo sobre lo que debemos hacer.

And Absalom saith unto Ahithophel, `Give for you counsel what we do.'

21 A hitofel dijo a Absalón: —Llégate a las concubinas de tu padre, que él dejó para guardar la casa. Todo el pueblo de Israel oirá que te has hecho aborrecible a tu padre, y así se fortalecerán las manos de todos los que están contigo.

And Ahithophel saith unto Absalom, `Go in unto the concubines of thy father, whom he left to keep the house, and all Israel hath heard that thou hast been abhorred by thy father, and the hands of all who with thee have been strong.'

22 E ntonces pusieron para Absalón una tienda sobre el terrado, y se llegó Absalón a las concubinas de su padre, ante los ojos de todo Israel.

And they spread out for Absalom the tent on the roof, and Absalom goeth in unto the concubines of his father before the eyes of all Israel.

23 E n aquellos días, el consejo que daba Ahitofel era como si se consultara la palabra de Dios, tanto cuando aconsejaba a David como a Absalón.

And the counsel of Ahithophel which he counselled in those days as one inquireth at the word of God; so all the counsel of Ahithophel both to David and to Absalom.
