1 A l año siguiente, en el tiempo en que suelen los reyes salir a la guerra, Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército y destruyó la tierra de los amonitas. Luego fue y sitió a Rabá, mientras David estaba en Jerusalén. Joab atacó a Rabá y la destruyó.

And it cometh to pass, at the time of the turn of the year -- at the time of the going out of the messengers -- that Joab leadeth out the force of the host, and destroyeth the land of the sons of Ammon, and cometh in and beseigeth Rabbah -- David is abiding in Jerusalem -- and Joab smiteth Rabbah, and breaketh it down.

2 E ntonces tomó David la corona de encima de la cabeza del rey de Rabá, y descubrió que pesaba un talento de oro. Había en ella piedras preciosas; y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Además de esto sacó de la ciudad un botín muy grande.

And David taketh the crown of their king from off his head, and findeth it weight a talent of gold, and in it a precious stone, and it is on the head of David: and spoil of the city he hath brought out very much,

3 S acó también al pueblo que estaba en ella, y lo puso a trabajar con sierras, con trillos de hierro y con hachas. Lo mismo hizo David a todas las ciudades de los amonitas. Y volvió David con todo el ejército a Jerusalén. Los hombres de David matan a los gigantes

and the people who in it he hath brought out, and setteth to the saw, and to cutting instruments of iron, and to axes; and thus doth David to all cities of the sons of Ammon, and David turneth back, and all the people, to Jerusalem.

4 D espués de esto aconteció que tuvo lugar una batalla en Gezer contra los filisteos; y Sibecai, el husatita, mató a Sipai, de los descendientes de los gigantes; y fueron humillados.

And it cometh to pass, after this, that there remaineth war in Gezer with the Philistines, then hath Sibbechai the Hushathite smitten Sippai, of the children of the giant, and they are humbled.

5 Y hubo otra guerra contra los filisteos; y Elhanán hijo de Jair mató a Lahmi, hermano de Goliat, el geteo, cuya lanza tenía un asta tan grande como un rodillo de telar.

And there is again war with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair smiteth Lahmi, brother of Goliath the Gittite, the wood of whose spear like a beam of weavers.

6 V olvió a haber guerra en Gat, donde había un hombre de gran estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en los pies y las manos, veinticuatro en total; y era descendiente de los gigantes.

And there is again war in Gath, and there is a man of measure, and his fingers and his toes six and six, twenty and four, and also, he hath been born to the giant.

7 E ste hombre desafió a Israel, pero lo mató Jonatán hijo de Simea, hermano de David.

And he reproacheth Israel, and smite him doth Jonathan son of Shimea, brother of David.

8 E stos eran descendientes de los gigantes de Gat, los cuales cayeron a manos de David y de sus siervos.

These were born to the giant in Gath, and they fall by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
