1 V inieron todas las tribus de Israel adonde estaba David en Hebrón y le dijeron: «Mira, hueso tuyo y carne tuya somos.

And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, `Lo, we thy bone and thy flesh;

2 A un antes de ahora, cuando Saúl reinaba sobre nosotros, eras tú quien sacabas a Israel a la guerra, y lo volvías a traer. Además, Jehová te ha dicho: “Tú apacentarás a mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás quien gobierne a Israel.”»

also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3 V inieron, pues, todos los ancianos de Israel ante el rey en Hebrón. El rey David hizo un pacto con ellos allí delante de Jehová; y ungieron a David como rey de Israel.

And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 T enía David treinta años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cuarenta años.

A son of thirty years David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5 R einó en Hebrón sobre Judá durante siete años y seis meses, y reinó en Jerusalén treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá. David toma la fortaleza de Sión

in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 E l rey y sus hombres marcharon sobre Jerusalén, contra los jebuseos que habitaban en aquella tierra, los cuales le dijeron a David: «Tú no entrarás aquí, pues aun los ciegos y los cojos te echarán» (queriendo decir: David no puede entrar aquí).

And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, `Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, `David doth not come in hither.'

7 P ero David tomó la fortaleza de Sión, que es la ciudad de David.

And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it the city of David.

8 D avid había dicho aquel día: «Todo el que ataque a los jebuseos, que suba por el canal y hiera a los cojos y ciegos, a los cuales aborrece el alma de David.» De aquí el dicho: «Ni ciego ni cojo entrará en la Casa.»

And David saith on that day, `Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind -- the hated of David's soul,' -- because the blind and lame say, `He doth not come into the house.'

9 D avid se instaló en la fortaleza y le puso por nombre la Ciudad de David. Edificó una muralla en derredor, desde Milo hacia el interior.

And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it -- City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10 E iba David adelantando y engrandeciéndose, y Jehová Dios de los ejércitos estaba con él. Hiram envía embajadores a David

and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, with him.

11 T ambién Hiram, rey de Tiro, envió embajadores a David, así como madera de cedro, carpinteros y canteros para los muros, los cuales edificaron la casa de David.

And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 D avid supo entonces que Jehová lo había confirmado como rey de Israel, y que había engrandecido su reino por amor de su pueblo Israel. Hijos de David nacidos en Jerusalén

and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 D avid tomó más concubinas y mujeres de Jerusalén, después que vino de Hebrón, y le nacieron más hijos e hijas.

And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14 É stos son los nombres de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén: Samúa, Sobab, Natán, Salomón,

And these the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 I bhar, Elisúa, Nefeg, Jafía,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 E lisama, Eliada y Elifelet. David derrota a los filisteos

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 C uando los filisteos oyeron que David había sido ungido como rey de Israel, subieron todos para buscar a David. David lo supo y descendió a la fortaleza.

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18 L legaron los filisteos y se desplegaron por el valle de Refaim.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 E ntonces consultó David a Jehová, diciendo: —¿Iré contra los filisteos? ¿Los entregarás en mis manos? Respondió Jehová a David: —Ve, porque ciertamente entregaré a los filisteos en tus manos.

And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, `Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20 L legó David a Baal-perazim. Allí los venció David, y dijo: «Jehová me abrió brecha entre mis enemigos, como corriente impetuosa.» Por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perazim.

And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, `Jehovah hath broken forth mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21 L os filisteos dejaron allí sus ídolos, y David y sus hombres los quemaron.

And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22 L os filisteos vinieron otra vez y se desplegaron en el valle de Refaim.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23 D avid consultó a Jehová, y él respondió: —No subas, sino rodéalos y atácalos frente a las balsameras.

and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, `Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24 Y cuando oigas ruido como de marcha por las copas de las balsameras, entonces atacarás, porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti para derrotar el campamento de los filisteos.

and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25 D avid lo hizo así, como Jehová se lo había mandado; e hirió a los filisteos desde Geba hasta llegar a Gezer.

And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.
