1 T oate seminţiile lui Israel au venit la David, în Hebron şi i-au zis: „Suntem os din oasele tale şi carne din carnea ta!

And all the tribes of Israel come unto David, to Hebron, and speak, saying, `Lo, we thy bone and thy flesh;

2 O dinioară, pe când Saul ne era rege, tu îl conduceai pe Israel în războaie. Domnul ţi-a promis, de altfel: «Tu vei păstori poporul Meu Israel şi vei fi conducător peste Israel!»“

also heretofore, in Saul's being king over us, thou hast been he who is bringing out and bringing in Israel, and Jehovah saith to thee, Thou dost feed My people Israel, and thou art for leader over Israel.'

3 T oţi cei din sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel veniseră la rege, în Hebron, astfel că regele David a încheiat legământ cu ei înaintea Domnului la Hebron. Apoi ei l-au uns pe David ca rege peste Israel.

And all the elders of Israel come unto the king, to Hebron, and king David maketh with them a covenant in Hebron before Jehovah, and they anoint David for king over Israel.

4 D avid era în vârstă de treizeci de ani când a devenit rege şi a domnit timp de patruzeci de ani:

A son of thirty years David in his being king; forty years he hath reigned;

5 l a Hebron a domnit, peste Iuda, timp de şapte ani şi şase luni, iar la Ierusalim a domnit timp de treizeci şi trei de ani peste întreg Israelul şi peste Iuda. David cucereşte Ierusalimul

in Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years, over all Israel and Judah.

6 R egele şi oamenii săi au înaintat spre Ierusalim împotriva iebusiţilor care locuiau acolo. Aceştia i-au zis lui David: „Nu vei intra aici, căci până şi orbii şi ologii te vor respinge.“ Credeau că David nu va reuşi să intre în cetate.

And the king goeth, and his men, to Jerusalem, unto the Jebusite, the inhabitant of the land, and they speak to David, saying, `Thou dost not come in hither, except thou turn aside the blind and the lame;' saying, `David doth not come in hither.'

7 D avid a capturat însă fortăreaţa Sionului, care a devenit Cetatea lui David.

And David captureth the fortress of Zion, it the city of David.

8 D avid zisese în acea zi: „Oricine vrea să îi învingă pe iebusiţi să folosească canalul de apă pentru a ajunge la acei «ologi» şi «orbi», care sunt duşmanii lui David.“ De aceea se zice: „Orbii şi ologii n-au voie să intre în palat.“

And David saith on that day, `Any one smiting the Jebusite, (let him go up by the watercourse), and the lame and the blind -- the hated of David's soul,' -- because the blind and lame say, `He doth not come into the house.'

9 D avid s-a stabilit în fortăreaţă şi a numit-o „Cetatea lui David“. David a rezidit cetatea de jur împrejur, dinspre Milo înspre interior.

And David dwelleth in the fortress, and calleth it -- City of David, and David buildeth round about, from Millo and inward,

10 D avid a devenit tot mai puternic pentru că Domnul, Dumnezeul Oştirilor, era cu el.

and David goeth, going on and becoming great, and Jehovah, God of Hosts, with him.

11 H iram, regele Tirului, i-a trimis soli lui David, iar aceştia i-au adus lemn de cedru, precum şi tâmplari şi zidari care i-au zidit un palat.

And Hiram king of Tyre sendeth messengers unto David, and cedar-trees, and artificers of wood, and artificers of stone, for walls, and they build a house for David,

12 D avid a înţeles că Domnul l-a pus drept rege peste Israel şi i-a întărit domnia de dragul poporului Său, Israel.

and David knoweth that Jehovah hath established him for king over Israel, and that He hath lifted up his kingdom, because of His people Israel.

13 D upă ce a părăsit Hebronul, David şi-a luat mai multe ţiitoare şi soţii din Ierusalim şi i s-au mai născut astfel mulţi fii şi multe fiice.

And David taketh again concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after his coming from Hebron, and there are born again to David sons and daughters.

14 A cestea sunt numele celor care i s-au născut la Ierusalim: Şamua, Şobab, Natan, Solomon,

And these the names of those born to him in Jerusalem: Shammuah, and Shobab, and Nathan, and Solomon,

15 I bhar, Elişua, Nefeg, Iafia,

and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

16 E lişama, Eliada şi Elifelet. Războiul cu filistenii

and Elishama, and Eliada, and Eliphalet.

17 C ând au auzit filistenii că David a fost uns drept rege peste Israel, toţi filistenii au pornit în căutarea lui. David a aflat însă acest lucru şi s-a adăpostit în fortăreaţă.

And the Philistines hear that they have anointed David for king over Israel, and all the Philistines come up to seek David, and David heareth, and goeth down unto the fortress,

18 F ilistenii au venit şi s-au răspândit în valea Refaim.

and the Philistines have come, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim.

19 D avid L-a întrebat pe Domnul: – Să pornesc împotriva filistenilor? Îi vei da în mâna mea? Domnul i-a răspuns lui David: – Du-te, căci negreşit îi voi da pe filisteni în mâna ta.

And David asketh of Jehovah, saying, `Do I go up unto the Philistines? dost Thou give them into my hand?' And Jehovah saith unto David, `Go up, for I certainly give the Philistines into thy hand.'

20 D avid s-a dus la Baal-Peraţim şi i-a învins acolo. El a zis: „ Domnul i-a zdrobit pe duşmanii mei dinaintea mea precum apele care dau năvală rupând totul în cale.“ De aceea locului aceluia i-au pus numele Baal-Peraţim.

And David cometh in to Baal-Perazim, and David smiteth them there, and saith, `Jehovah hath broken forth mine enemies before me, as the breaking forth of waters;' therefore he hath called the name of that place Baal-Perazim.

21 F ilistenii şi-au lăsat idolii acolo, iar David şi oamenii săi i-au luat.

And they forsake there their idols, and David and his men lift them up.

22 F ilistenii au venit din nou şi s-au răspândit în valea Refaim.

And the Philistines add again to come up, and are spread out in the valley of Rephaim,

23 D avid L-a întrebat pe Domnul, iar El i-a răspuns: „Să nu-i ataci din faţă, ci ia-i pe la spate şi atacă-i în dreptul arbuştilor de balsam.

and David asketh of Jehovah, and He saith, `Thou dost not go up, turn round unto their rear, and thou hast come to them over-against the mulberries,

24 C ând vei auzi vuietul de marş în vârful arbuştilor de balsam, să porneşti la atac, căci atunci Domnul va ieşi înaintea ta ca să zdrobească oştirea filistenilor.“

and it cometh to pass, in thy hearing the sound of a stepping in the tops of the mulberries, then thou dost move sharply, for then hath Jehovah gone out before thee to smite in the camp of the Philistines.'

25 D avid a făcut aşa cum i-a poruncit Domnul. El i-a lovit pe filisteni de la Ghivon până la Ghezer.

And David doth so, as Jehovah commanded him, and smiteth the Philistines from Geba unto thy coming to Gazer.
