1 C ând Şi-a ridicat privirea, i-a văzut pe cei bogaţi punându-şi darurile în vistieria Templului.

And having looked up, he saw those who did cast their gifts to the treasury -- rich men,

2 A văzut şi o văduvă săracă, punând acolo două lepta.

and he saw also a certain poor widow casting there two mites,

3 I sus a zis: „Adevărat vă spun că această văduvă săracă a pus mai mult decât toţi,

and he said, `Truly I say to you, that this poor widow did cast in more than all;

4 p entru că toţi aceştia au pus din abundenţa lor, dar ea, din sărăcia ei, a pus tot ce avea ca să trăiască.“ Semne ale sfârşitului

for all these out of their superabundance did cast into the gifts to God, but this one out of her want, all the living that she had, did cast in.'

5 Î n timp ce unii vorbeau despre Templu, că este împodobit cu pietre frumoase şi cu daruri, El a zis:

And certain saying about the temple, that with goodly stones and devoted things it hath been adorned, he said,

6 – Cât despre aceste lucruri pe care le vedeţi, vor veni zile când nu va fi lăsată piatră pe piatră; totul va fi dărâmat.

`These things that ye behold -- days will come, in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down.'

7 E i L-au întrebat: – Învăţătorule, când se vor întâmpla aceste lucruri şi care va fi semnul când urmează să se întâmple acestea?

And they questioned him, saying, `Teacher, when, then, shall these things be? and what the sign when these things may be about to happen?'

8 E l le-a răspuns: – Vedeţi să nu fiţi duşi în rătăcire! Căci vor veni mulţi în Numele Meu, zicând: „Eu sunt Acela!“ şi „Vremea se apropie!“ Să nu vă duceţi după ei!

And he said, `See -- ye may not be led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying -- I am, and the time hath come nigh; go not on then after them;

9 C ând veţi auzi de războaie şi răscoale, să nu vă îngroziţi, căci întâi trebuie să se întâmple aceste lucruri. Dar sfârşitul nu va fi imediat.

and when ye may hear of wars and uprisings, be not terrified, for it behoveth these things to happen first, but the end not immediately.'

10 A poi El le-a zis: – Un neam se va ridica împotriva altui neam şi o împărăţie împotriva altei împărăţii.

Then said he to them, `Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom,

11 V or fi cutremure mari şi foamete, şi molime în diverse locuri; vor fi manifestări înspăimântătoare şi semne mari din cer.

great shakings also in every place, and famines, and pestilences, there shall be; fearful things also, and great signs from heaven there shall be;

12 D ar, înainte de toate acestea, vor pune mâinile pe voi şi vă vor persecuta. Vă vor da pe mâna sinagogilor, vă vor arunca în închisori şi vă vor duce înaintea regilor şi înaintea guvernatorilor din pricina Numelui Meu.

and before all these, they shall lay on you their hands, and persecute, delivering up to synagogues and prisons, being brought before kings and governors for my name's sake;

13 V i se va da astfel prilejul să fiţi mărturie înaintea lor.

and it shall become to you for a testimony.

14 H otărâţi-vă deci în inimile voastre să nu vă pregătiţi mai dinainte apărarea!

`Settle, then, to your hearts, not to meditate beforehand to reply,

15 C ăci Eu vă voi da cuvinte şi o înţelepciune căreia nici unul din potrivnicii voştri nu i se va putea opune şi n-o va putea contrazice!

for I will give to you a mouth and wisdom that all your opposers shall not be able to refute or resist.

16 V eţi fi trădaţi chiar şi de părinţi, de fraţi, de rude şi de prieteni, iar pe unii dintre voi vă vor da la moarte.

`And ye shall be delivered up also by parents, and brothers, and kindred, and friends, and they shall put of you to death;

17 Ş i veţi fi urâţi de toţi din pricina Numelui Meu.

and ye shall be hated by all because of my name --

18 D ar nici un fir de păr din cap nu vi se va pierde.

and a hair out of your head shall not perish;

19 P rin răbdarea voastră vă veţi câştiga sufletele.

in your patience possess ye your souls.

20 C ând veţi vedea Ierusalimul înconjurat de armate, atunci să ştiţi că pustiirea lui este aproape.

`And when ye may see Jerusalem surrounded by encampments, then know that come nigh did her desolation;

21 A tunci cei din Iudeea să fugă în munţi, cei din mijlocul Ierusalimului să iasă afară, iar cei de pe câmpii să nu intre în el,

then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains; and those in her midst, let them depart out; and those in the countries, let them not come in to her;

22 c ăci acestea sunt zile de răzbunare, ca să se împlinească toate lucrurile care au fost scrise.

because these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all things that have been written.

23 V ai de cele ce vor fi însărcinate şi de cele ce vor alăpta în zilele acelea! Căci va fi strâmtorare mare peste pământ şi urgie peste poporul acesta!

`And wo to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days; for there shall be great distress on the land, and wrath on this people;

24 V or cădea ucişi de ascuţişul sabiei şi vor fi duşi captivi prin toate neamurile, iar Ierusalimul va fi călcat în picioare de către neamuri, până când se vor împlini vremurile neamurilor.

and they shall fall by the mouth of the sword, and shall be led captive to all the nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by nations, till the times of nations be fulfilled.

25 V or fi semne în soare, lună şi stele, iar pe pământ va fi suferinţă printre neamuri, încremenite de urletul mării şi al valurilor.

`And there shall be signs in sun, and moon, and stars, and on the land distress of nations with perplexity, sea and billow roaring;

26 O amenii vor leşina de frică în aşteptarea lucrurilor care urmează să vină asupra omenirii, căci puterile cerurilor vor fi clătinate.

men fainting at heart from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the world, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.

27 A tunci Îl vor vedea pe Fiul Omului venind pe un nor, cu putere şi mare slavă.

`And then they shall see the Son of Man, coming in a cloud, with power and much glory;

28 C ând vor începe să se întâmple aceste lucruri, îndreptaţi-vă şi ridicaţi-vă capetele, pentru că răscumpărarea voastră se apropie!

and these things beginning to happen bend yourselves back, and lift up your heads, because your redemption doth draw nigh.'

29 L e-a spus apoi o pildă: – Uitaţi-vă la smochin şi la toţi copacii.

And he spake a simile to them: `See the fig-tree, and all the trees,

30 C ând vedeţi că deja înfrunzesc, ştiţi că de acum vara este aproape.

when they may now cast forth, having seen, of yourselves ye know that now is the summer nigh;

31 T ot aşa şi voi, când vedeţi că se întâmplă aceste lucruri, să ştiţi că Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu este aproape.

so also ye, when ye may see these things happening, ye know that near is the reign of God;

32 A devărat vă spun că nu va trece această generaţie până când nu se vor întâmpla toate aceste lucruri.

verily I say to you -- This generation may not pass away till all may have come to pass;

33 C erul şi pământul vor trece, însă cuvintele Mele nu vor trece!

the heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words may not pass away.

34 L uaţi seama la voi înşivă, ca nu cumva să vi se îngreuneze inimile cu îmbuibare, cu beţii şi cu îngrijorările vieţii şi astfel ziua aceea să vină asupra voastră pe neaşteptate,

`And take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts may be weighed down with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and anxieties of life, and suddenly that day may come on you,

35 c a o capcană! Căci ea va veni peste toţi locuitorii de pe toată faţa pământului.

for as a snare it shall come on all those dwelling on the face of all the land,

36 V egheaţi tot timpul, rugându-vă să puteţi scăpa de toate aceste lucruri care urmează să se întâmple şi să puteţi sta în picioare înaintea Fiului Omului!

watch ye, then, in every season, praying that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are about to come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.'

37 Î n fiecare zi Isus dădea învăţătură în Templu, iar în fiecare seară ieşea şi-Şi petrecea noaptea pe muntele numit „al Măslinilor“.

And he was during the days in the temple teaching, and during the nights, going forth, he was lodging at the mount called of Olives;

38 Ş i tot poporul venea dis-de-dimineaţă la El în Templu, ca să-L asculte.

and all the people were coming early unto him in the temple to hear him.
