1 D upă doi ani, Faraon a visat că stătea pe malul Nilului

And it cometh to pass, at the end of two years of days that Pharaoh is dreaming, and lo, he is standing by the River,

2 ş i că din Nil au ieşit şapte vaci frumoase şi grase, care păşteau între trestii.

and lo, from the River coming up are seven kine, of fair appearance, and fat flesh, and they feed among the reeds;

3 D upă ele au ieşit din Nil alte şapte vaci urâte şi sfrijite, care s-au aşezat lângă celelalte vaci, pe malul Nilului.

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them out of the River, of bad appearance, and lean flesh, and they stand near the kine on the edge of the River,

4 V acile urâte şi sfrijite le-au mâncat pe cele şapte vaci frumoase şi grase. Atunci Faraon s-a trezit din somn.

and the kine of bad appearance and lean flesh eat up the seven kine of fair appearance, and fat -- and Pharaoh awaketh.

5 A poi a adormit din nou şi a avut un alt vis: şapte spice de grâne, grase şi bune, creşteau pe acelaşi pai.

And he sleepeth, and dreameth a second time, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, fat and good,

6 D upă ele au răsărit şapte spice slabe şi arse de vântul de răsărit.

and lo, seven ears, thin, and blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

7 S picele slabe le-au înghiţit pe cele şapte spice grase şi pline. Atunci Faraon s-a trezit din somn; acestea au fost visele sale.

and the thin ears swallow the seven fat and full ears -- and Pharaoh awaketh, and lo, a dream.

8 D imineaţa duhul său era tulburat; el a trimis să-i cheme pe toţi magicienii şi pe toţi înţelepţii Egiptului, cărora le-a istorisit visele, dar nimeni n-a putut să i le interpreteze.

And it cometh to pass in the morning, that his spirit is moved, and he sendeth and calleth all the scribes of Egypt, and all its wise men, and Pharaoh recounteth to them his dream, and there is no interpreter of them to Pharaoh.

9 A tunci căpetenia paharnicilor i-a zis lui Faraon: „Mi-aduc astăzi aminte de greşeala mea;

And the chief of the butlers speaketh with Pharaoh, saying, `My sin I mention this day:

10 F araon s-a mâniat odată pe slujitorii săi şi ne-a pus sub pază, în casa conducătorului gărzii, pe mine şi pe căpetenia brutarilor.

Pharaoh hath been wroth against his servants, and giveth me into charge in the house of the chief of the executioners, me and the chief of the bakers;

11 E l şi cu mine am avut în aceeaşi noapte câte un vis, fiecare vis având o interpretare proprie.

and we dream a dream in one night, I and he, each according to the interpretation of his dream we have dreamed.

12 Î mpreună cu noi, se afla acolo şi un tânăr evreu, sclav al conducătorului gărzii. I-am istorisit acestuia visele noastre, iar el ni le-a interpretat, dând fiecărui vis o interpretare proprie.

And there with us a youth, a Hebrew, servant to the chief of the executioners, and we recount to him, and he interpreteth to us our dreams, each according to his dream hath he interpreted,

13 Ş i s-a întâmplat exact aşa cum ni le-a interpretat el: pe mine Faraon m-a repus în slujbă, iar pe brutar l-a spânzurat.“

and it cometh to pass, as he hath interpreted to us so it hath been, me he put back on my station, and him he hanged.'

14 A tunci Faraon a trimis după Iosif, iar el a fost scos repede din temniţă. Iosif s-a ras, şi-a schimbat hainele şi s-a prezentat înaintea lui Faraon.

And Pharaoh sendeth and calleth Joseph, and they cause him to run out of the pit, and he shaveth, and changeth his garments, and cometh in unto Pharaoh.

15 A cesta i-a zis: – Am avut un vis, dar nu este nimeni care să-l poată interpreta. Am auzit că tu poţi interpreta un vis imediat ce-l auzi.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `A dream I have dreamed, and there is no interpreter of it, and I -- I have heard concerning thee, saying, Thou understandest a dream to interpret it,'

16 – Nu eu, ci Dumnezeu îi va da lui Faraon un răspuns prielnic, i-a răspuns Iosif.

and Joseph answereth Pharaoh, saying, `Without me -- God doth answer Pharaoh with peace.'

17 A tunci Faraon i-a zis lui Iosif: – Am visat că stăteam pe malul Nilului

And Pharaoh speaketh unto Joseph: `In my dream, lo, I am standing by the edge of the River,

18 ş i că din Nil au ieşit şapte vaci frumoase şi grase, care păşteau între trestii.

and lo, out of the River coming up are seven kine, fat flesh, and of fair form, and they feed among the reeds;

19 D upă ele au ieşit alte şapte vaci mici, foarte urâte şi sfrijite. Niciodată n-am văzut vaci atât de urâte în toată ţara Egiptului.

and lo, seven other kine are coming up after them, thin, and of very bad form, and lean flesh; I have not seen like these in all the land of Egypt for badness.

20 V acile sfrijite şi urâte le-au mâncat pe primele şapte vaci grase;

`And the lean and the bad kine eat up the first seven fat kine,

21 d ar după ce le-au mâncat, nimeni nu şi-ar fi dat seama că au făcut acest lucru, pentru că erau la fel de sfrijite ca şi înainte. Apoi m-am trezit.

and they come in unto their midst, and it hath not been known that they have come in unto their midst, and their appearance bad as at the commencement; and I awake.

22 A m adormit din nou şi am avut un alt vis: şapte spice de grâne, pline şi bune, creşteau pe acelaşi pai.

`And I see in my dream, and lo, seven ears are coming up on one stalk, full and good;

23 D upă ele au răsărit şapte spice uscate, slabe şi arse de vântul de răsărit.

and lo, seven ears, withered, thin, blasted with an east wind, are springing up after them;

24 S picele slabe le-au înghiţit pe cele şapte spice bune. Le-am spus magicienilor aceste vise, dar nici unul nu mi le-a putut explica.

and the thin ears swallow the seven good ears; and I tell unto the scribes, and there is none declaring to me.'

25 A tunci Iosif i-a zis lui Faraon: – Visele lui Faraon reprezintă acelaşi lucru; Dumnezeu i-a descoperit ce urmează să facă.

And Joseph saith unto Pharaoh, `The dream of Pharaoh is one: that which God is doing he hath declared to Pharaoh;

26 C ele şapte vaci bune reprezintă şapte ani, iar cele şapte spice bune reprezintă tot şapte ani; este un singur vis.

the seven good kine are seven years, and the seven good ears are seven years, the dream is one;

27 C ele şapte vaci slabe şi urâte, care au ieşit după primele, reprezintă şapte ani, ca şi cele şapte spice goale, arse de vântul de răsărit. Ele reprezintă şapte ani de foamete.

and the seven thin and bad kine which are coming up after them are seven years, and the seven empty ears, blasted with an east wind, are seven years of famine;

28 S e va întâmpla exact aşa cum i-am spus lui Faraon; Dumnezeu i-a arătat lui Faraon ce urmează să facă.

this the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: That which God is doing, he hath shewn Pharaoh.

29 V or veni şapte ani de mare belşug în toată ţara Egiptului.

`Lo, seven years are coming of great abundance in all the land of Egypt,

30 D upă ei vor veni şapte ani de foamete, astfel încât tot belşugul din ţara Egiptului va fi uitat. Foametea va pustii ţara;

and seven years of famine have arisen after them, and all the plenty is forgotten in the land of Egypt, and the famine hath finished the land,

31 b elşugul nu va mai fi cunoscut în ţară din cauza foametei care va urma, pentru că ea va fi foarte grea.

and the plenty is not known in the land because of that famine afterwards, for it very grievous.

32 V isul i-a fost arătat lui Faraon în două feluri, pentru că acest lucru este hotărât de Dumnezeu, iar Dumnezeu îl va împlini în curând.

`And because of the repeating of the dream unto Pharaoh twice, surely the thing is established by God, and God is hastening to do it.

33 D e aceea Faraon să aleagă acum un om priceput şi înţelept şi să-l pună conducător peste ţara Egiptului.

`And now, let Pharaoh provide a man, intelligent and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt;

34 F araon să rânduiască supraveghetori peste ţara Egiptului şi să ia o cincime din rodul ţării în timpul celor şapte ani de belşug.

let Pharaoh make and appoint overseers over the land, and receive a fifth of the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty,

35 E i să strângă toată hrana din aceşti ani buni care vin, să pună grânele pentru hrana celor din cetăţi sub stăpânirea lui Faraon şi să le păzească.

and they gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and heap up corn under the hand of Pharaoh -- food in the cities; and they have kept,

36 H rana aceea va fi o rezervă pentru ţară în cei şapte ani de foamete care vor veni peste ţara Egiptului, astfel încât ţara să nu piară în timpul foametei. Înălţarea lui Iosif

and the food hath been for a store for the land, for the seven years of famine which are in the land of Egypt; and the land is cut off by the famine.'

37 L ui Faraon şi tuturor slujitorilor săi li s-a părut potrivit planul.

And the thing is good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants,

38 A şa că el le-a zis slujitorilor săi: „Vom putea noi găsi pe cineva ca acesta, în care să fie Duhul lui Dumnezeu ?“

and Pharaoh saith unto his servants, `Do we find like this, a man in whom the spirit of God ?'

39 A poi Faraon i-a zis lui Iosif: – Pentru că Dumnezeu ţi-a descoperit toate acestea, nu este nimeni la fel de priceput şi de înţelept ca tine.

and Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `After God's causing thee to know all this, there is none intelligent and wise as thou;

40 D e aceea tu vei fi conducător peste curtea mea şi tot poporul meu va asculta de cuvântul tău; doar în ce priveşte tronul, eu voi fi mai mare decât tine.

thou -- thou art over my house, and at thy mouth do all my people kiss; only in the throne I am greater than thou.'

41 A şadar, te-am pus conducător peste toată ţara Egiptului.

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `See, I have put thee over all the land of Egypt.'

42 F araon şi-a scos inelul cu sigiliu din deget şi l-a pus pe degetul lui Iosif. L-a îmbrăcat în haine de in subţire, iar în jurul gâtului i-a pus un lanţ de aur.

And Pharaoh turneth aside his seal-ring from off his hand, and putteth it on the hand of Joseph, and clotheth him garments of fine linen, and placeth a chain of gold on his neck,

43 A poi l-a pus în carul care venea după al său şi înaintea lui se striga: „Plecaţi genunchiul!“ Astfel, Faraon l-a pus pe Iosif conducător peste tot Egiptul.

and causeth him to ride in the second chariot which he hath, and they proclaim before him, `Bow the knee!' and -- to put him over all the land of Egypt.

44 D e asemenea, el i-a mai spus lui Iosif: – Eu sunt Faraon, dar fără consimţământul tău nimeni nu va face nimic în toată ţara Egiptului.“

And Pharaoh saith unto Joseph, `I Pharaoh, and without thee a man doth not lift up his hand and his foot in all the land of Egypt;'

45 F araon i-a pus lui Iosif numele Ţafnat-Paneah şi i-a dat-o de soţie pe Asnat, fiica lui Poti-Fera, preotul din On. Iosif a plecat prin ţara Egiptului.

and Pharaoh calleth Joseph's name Zaphnath-Paaneah, and he giveth to him Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, for a wife, and Joseph goeth out over the land of Egypt.

46 E l avea treizeci de ani când a intrat în slujba monarhului Egiptului. Iosif a ieşit de la Faraon şi a călătorit prin tot Egiptul.

And Joseph a son of thirty years in his standing before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and Joseph goeth out from the presence of Pharaoh, and passeth over through all the land of Egypt;

47 Î n timpul celor şapte ani de belşug, pământul a rodit foarte mult.

and the land maketh in the seven years of plenty by handfuls.

48 Î n timpul acestor şapte ani de belşug din ţara Egiptului, Iosif a adunat toată hrana şi a depozitat-o în cetăţi; în fiecare cetate el a depozitat hrana care provenea de pe câmpurile din jur.

And he gathereth all the food of the seven years which have been in the land of Egypt, and putteth food in the cities; the food of the field which round about city hath he put in its midst;

49 A stfel, Iosif a strâns foarte multe grâne, ca nisipul mării, încât a încetat să le mai cântărească, deoarece erau foarte multe.

and Joseph gathereth corn as sand of the sea, multiplying exceedingly, until that he hath ceased to number, for there is no number.

50 Î nainte să vină anii de foamete, Asnat, fiica lui Poti-Fera, preotul din On, i-a născut lui Iosif doi fii.

And to Joseph were born two sons before the year of famine cometh, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, hath borne to him,

51 I osif i-a pus întâiului său născut numele Manase, zicând: „Aceasta pentru că Dumnezeu m-a făcut să uit toate necazurile mele şi toată familia tatălui meu.“

and Joseph calleth the name of the first-born Manasseh: `for, God hath made me to forget all my labour, and all the house of my father;'

52 C elui de-al doilea fiu i-a pus numele Efraim, zicând: „Aceasta pentru că Dumnezeu m-a făcut roditor în ţara durerii mele.“

and the name of the second he hath called Ephraim: `for, God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of mine affliction.'

53 C ei şapte ani de belşug din ţara Egiptului s-au sfârşit

And the seven years of plenty are completed which have been in the land of Egypt,

54 ş i au început şapte ani de foamete, aşa cum a spus Iosif. În toate ţările era foamete, dar în toată ţara Egiptului era pâine.

and the seven years of famine begin to come, as Joseph said, and famine is in all the lands, but in all the land of Egypt hath been bread;

55 C ând toată ţara Egiptului a flămânzit, poporul a strigat către Faraon după pâine. Faraon le-a zis tuturor egiptenilor: „Mergeţi la Iosif, şi el vă va spune ce să faceţi!“

and all the land of Egypt is famished, and the people crieth unto Pharaoh for bread, and Pharaoh saith to all the Egyptians, `Go unto Joseph; that which he saith to you -- do.'

56 F oametea a cuprins întreaga ţară, iar Iosif a deschis toate locurile cu provizii şi le-a vândut grâne egiptenilor, deoarece foametea era grea în Egipt.

And the famine has been over all the face of the land, and Joseph openeth all which have in them, and selleth to the Egyptians; and the famine is severe in the land of Egypt,

57 Ş i, pentru că în întreaga lume foametea era grea, oameni din toate ţările veneau în Egipt ca să cumpere grâne de la Iosif.

and all the earth hath come to Egypt, to buy, unto Joseph, for the famine was severe in all the earth.
