1 I sus i-a chemat pe cei doisprezece, le-a dat putere şi autoritate asupra tuturor demonilor şi să vindece bolile,

And having called together his twelve disciples, he gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure sicknesses,

2 a poi i-a trimis să proclame Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu şi să-i vindece (pe cei neputincioşi).

and he sent them to proclaim the reign of God, and to heal the ailing.

3 E l le-a zis: „Să nu luaţi nimic cu voi pe drum – să nu luaţi nici toiag, nici traistă, nici pâine, nici bani şi să nu aveţi două tunici!

And he said unto them, `Take nothing for the way, neither staff, nor scrip, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats each;

4 Î n orice casă intraţi, rămâneţi acolo şi din locul acela să plecaţi!

and into whatever house ye may enter, there remain, and thence depart;

5 Ş i oriunde nu vă vor primi, scuturaţi-vă praful de pe picioare când ieşiţi din cetatea aceea, drept mărturie împotriva lor!“

and as many as may not receive you, going forth from that city, even the dust from your feet shake off, for a testimony against them.'

6 E i au plecat şi au călătorit prin sate, vestind Evanghelia şi înfăptuind vindecări pretutindeni.

And going forth they were going through the several villages, proclaiming good news, and healing everywhere.

7 T etrarhul Irod a auzit despre toate câte se întâmplaseră şi era nedumerit, pentru că unii ziceau că Ioan fusese înviat din morţi.

And Herod the tetrarch heard of all the things being done by him, and was perplexed, because it was said by certain, that John hath been raised out of the dead;

8 A lţii ziceau că s-a arătat Ilie, iar alţii că a înviat vreun profet dintre cei din vechime.

and by certain, that Elijah did appear, and by others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, was risen;

9 D ar Irod a zis: „Pe Ioan l-am decapitat. Deci Cine este Acesta despre Care aud asemenea lucruri?“ Şi căuta să-L vadă. Isus hrăneşte peste cinci mii de oameni

and Herod said, `John I did behead, but who is this concerning whom I hear such things?' and he was seeking to see him.

10 C ând s-au întors, apostolii I-au povestit lui Isus tot ce au făcut. El i-a luat deoparte şi s-au retras, doar ei singuri, spre o cetate numită Betsaida.

And the apostles having turned back, declared to him how great things they did, and having taken them, he withdrew by himself to a desert place of a city called Bethsaida,

11 D ar mulţimile au aflat lucrul acesta şi L-au urmat. El le-a primit bine, le-a vorbit despre Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu şi i-a vindecat pe cei care aveau nevoie de vindecare.

and the multitudes having known did follow him, and having received them, he was speaking to them concerning the reign of God, and those having need of service he cured.

12 F iindcă ziua se apropia de sfârşit, cei doisprezece au venit la El şi I-au zis: – Dă drumul mulţimii să meargă prin satele dimprejur şi prin cătune ca să găsească găzduire şi provizii, pentru că aici ne aflăm într-un loc pustiu!

And the day began to decline, and the twelve having come near, said to him, `Let away the multitude, that having gone to the villages and the fields round about, they may lodge and may find provision, because here we are in a desert place.'

13 Î nsă El le-a zis: – Daţi-le voi să mănânce! Ei I-au răspuns: – N-avem cu noi mai mult de cinci pâini şi doi peşti; numai dacă nu ne ducem noi să cumpărăm merinde pentru tot poporul aceasta!

And he said unto them, `Give ye them to eat;' and they said, `We have no more than five loaves, and two fishes: except, having gone, we may buy for all this people victuals;'

14 C ăci erau aproape cinci mii de bărbaţi. Isus le-a zis ucenicilor Săi: – Puneţi-i să se aşeze în grupuri (cam) de câte cincizeci!

for they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples, `Cause them to recline in companies, in each fifty;'

15 E i au făcut întocmai – i-au pus pe toţi să se aşeze.

and they did so, and made all to recline;

16 I sus a luat cele cinci pâini şi cei doi peşti şi, privind spre cer, a rostit binecuvântarea, le-a frânt şi apoi le-a dat ucenicilor ca să le împartă mulţimii.

and having taken the five loaves, and the two fishes, having looked up to the heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and was giving to the disciples to set before the multitude;

17 A u mâncat toţi şi s-au săturat; şi s-au strâns douăsprezece coşuri cu firimiturile rămase. Mărturisirea de credinţă a lui Petru

and they did eat, and were all filled, and there was taken up what was over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.

18 Î ntr-o zi, în timp ce se ruga singur deoparte, cu El fiind doar ucenicii, Isus i-a întrebat: – Cine zic mulţimile că sunt Eu?

And it came to pass, as he is praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he questioned them, saying, `Who do the multitudes say me to be?'

19 E i au răspuns: – Unii zic că eşti Ioan Botezătorul, alţii zic că eşti Ilie, iar alţii zic că un profet dintre cei din vechime a înviat.

And they answering said, `John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; and others, that a prophet, one of the ancients, was risen;'

20 – Dar voi cine ziceţi că sunt Eu? i-a mai întrebat El. Petru a răspuns: – Cristosul lui Dumnezeu! Isus vorbeşte despre moartea şi învierea Sa

and he said to them, `And ye -- who do ye say me to be?' and Peter answering said, `The Christ of God.'

21 Î nsă Isus i-a avertizat şi le-a poruncit să nu spună nimănui acest lucru,

And having charged them, he commanded to say this to no one,

22 z icând: – Fiul Omului trebuie să sufere mult şi să fie respins de către bătrâni, de către conducătorii preoţilor şi de către cărturari, să fie omorât, iar a treia zi să fie înviat. Preţul uceniciei

saying -- `It behoveth the Son of Man to suffer many things, and to be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be killed, and the third day to be raised.'

23 A poi le-a spus tuturor: – Dacă vrea cineva să vină după Mine, să se lepede de sine, să-şi ia crucea în fiecare zi şi să Mă urmeze!

And he said unto all, `If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me;

24 C ăci oricine vrea să-şi salveze viaţa o va pierde, dar cel ce-şi pierde viaţa pentru Mine, acela o va salva.

for whoever may will to save his life, shall lose it, and whoever may lose his life for my sake, he shall save it;

25 Ş i la ce i-ar folosi unui om să câştige întreaga lume, dacă s-ar distruge sau s-ar pierde pe sine însuşi?

for what is a man profited, having gained the whole world, and having lost or having forfeited himself?

26 C ăci celui ce îi va fi ruşine de Mine şi de cuvintele Mele, de acela Îi va fi ruşine şi Fiului Omului când va veni în slava Sa, a Tatălui şi a sfinţilor îngeri.

`For whoever may be ashamed of me, and of my words, of this one shall the Son of Man be ashamed, when he may come in his glory, and the Father's, and the holy messengers';

27 A devărat vă spun că sunt unii dintre cei ce stau aici care nu vor gusta moartea înainte de a vedea Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu. Schimbarea la faţă

and I say to you, truly, there are certain of those here standing, who shall not taste of death till they may see the reign of God.'

28 C am la opt zile după cuvintele acestea, Isus i-a luat cu Sine pe Petru, pe Iacov şi pe Ioan şi au urcat pe munte ca să se roage.

And it came to pass, after these words, as it were eight days, that having taken Peter, and John, and James, he went up to the mountain to pray,

29 Î n timp ce se ruga, I s-a schimbat înfăţişarea feţei, iar hainele Lui au devenit strălucitor de albe.

and it came to pass, in his praying, the appearance of his face became altered, and his garment white -- sparkling.

30 Ş i iată că doi bărbaţi stăteau de vorbă cu El – erau Moise şi Ilie,

And lo, two men were speaking together with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

31 c are se arătaseră în slavă. Ei vorbeau despre exodul Lui, pe care urma să-l ducă la îndeplinire în Ierusalim.

who having appeared in glory, spake of his outgoing that he was about to fulfil in Jerusalem,

32 P etru şi cei ce erau cu el erau îngreunaţi de somn, dar când s-au trezit bine au văzut slava Lui şi pe cei doi bărbaţi care stăteau împreună cu El.

but Peter and those with him were heavy with sleep, and having waked, they saw his glory, and the two men standing with him.

33 C hiar când aceştia se despărţeau de El, Petru I-a zis lui Isus: „Stăpâne, este bine să fim aici! Să facem trei corturi: unul pentru Tine, unul pentru Moise şi unul pentru Ilie!“ Nu ştia ce zice.

And it came to pass, in their parting from him, Peter said unto Jesus, `Master, it is good to us to be here; and we may make three booths, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,' not knowing what he saith:

34 Î n timp ce spunea el aceste lucruri, a venit un nor şi i-a acoperit. Când au intrat în nor, s-au înspăimântat.

and as he was speaking these things, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them, and they feared in their entering into the cloud,

35 Ş i din nor s-a auzit un glas care zicea: „Acesta este Fiul Meu, pe Care L-am ales! De El să ascultaţi!“

and a voice came out of the cloud saying, `This is My Son -- the Beloved; hear ye him;'

36 C ând s-a auzit glasul, Isus se afla acolo singur. Ei au păstrat tăcerea şi n-au spus nimănui nimic, în zilele acelea, despre lucrurile pe care le văzuseră. Ucenicii nu pot vindeca un copil demonizat

and when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone; and they were silent, and declared to no one in those days anything of what they have seen.

37 Î n ziua următoare, când au coborât de pe munte, o mare mulţime de oameni L-a întâmpinat pe Isus.

And it came to pass on the next day, they having come down from the mount, there met him a great multitude,

38 Ş i iată că un bărbat din mulţime a strigat: – Învăţătorule, Te rog să priveşti cu îndurare la fiul meu, căci este singurul meu fiu!

and lo, a man from the multitude cried out, saying, `Teacher, I beseech thee, look upon my son, because he is my only begotten;

39 U n duh îl apucă dintr-odată şi imediat el începe să strige; duhul îi provoacă convulsii şi spume la gură şi cu greu pleacă de la el, lăsându-l zdrobit!

and lo, a spirit doth take him, and suddenly he doth cry out, and it teareth him, with foaming, and it hardly departeth from him, bruising him,

40 I -am rugat pe ucenicii Tăi să-l scoată, dar n-au putut!

and I besought thy disciples that they might cast it out, and they were not able.'

41 I sus a răspuns: – O, generaţie necredincioasă şi pervertită! Până când voi mai fi cu voi şi vă voi mai suferi? Adu-l aici pe fiul tău!

And Jesus answering said, `O generation, unstedfast and perverse, till when shall I be with you, and suffer you? bring near hither thy son;'

42 C hiar în timp ce venea, demonul l-a trântit la pământ şi i-a provocat convulsii. Dar Isus a poruncit duhului necurat, l-a vindecat pe băiat şi l-a dat înapoi tatălui său.

and as he is yet coming near, the demon rent him, and tore sore, and Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the youth, and gave him back to his father.

43 T oţi au rămas uimiţi de măreţia lui Dumnezeu. Isus vorbeşte din nou despre moartea şi învierea Sa În timp ce toţi se mirau de tot ceea ce făcea El, Isus le-a zis ucenicilor Săi:

And they were all amazed at the greatness of God, and while all are wondering at all things that Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

44 „ Ascultaţi cu atenţie aceste cuvinte: Fiul Omului urmează să fie trădat în mâinile oamenilor.“

`Lay ye to your ears these words, for the Son of Man is about to be delivered up to the hands of men.'

45 E i însă n-au priceput aceste vorbe, pentru că înţelesul lor era ascuns de ei, ca să nu le înţeleagă; şi se temeau să-L întrebe despre lucrul acesta. Cine este cel mai mare?

And they were not knowing this saying, and it was veiled from them, that they might not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

46 A poi s-a iscat o ceartă între ei cu privire la cine este cel mai mare dintre ei.

And there entered a reasoning among them, this, Who may be greater of them?

47 D ar Isus, cunoscând gândul inimii lor, a luat un copilaş, l-a pus să stea lângă El

and Jesus having seen the reasoning of their heart, having taken hold of a child, set him beside himself,

48 ş i le-a zis: „Oricine primeşte acest copilaş în Numele meu, pe Mine Mă primeşte, iar cel ce Mă primeşte pe Mine Îl primeşte pe Cel Ce M-a trimis pe Mine. Căci cine este cel mai mic dintre voi toţi, acela este cel mai mare.“ De partea lui Isus

and said to them, `Whoever may receive this child in my name, doth receive me, and whoever may receive me, doth receive Him who sent me, for he who is least among you all -- he shall be great.'

49 I oan a zis: – Stăpâne, noi am văzut pe cineva care scotea demoni în Numele Tău şi l-am oprit, pentru că nu ne urma.

And John answering said, `Master, we saw a certain one in thy name casting forth the demons, and we forbade him, because he doth not follow with us;'

50 I sus i-a răspuns: – Nu-l opriţi, pentru că cel care nu este împotriva voastră este de partea voastră. Opoziţie din partea samaritenilor

and Jesus said unto him, `Forbid not, for he who is not against us, is for us.'

51 C ând s-a apropiat vremea în care avea să fie luat la cer, Şi-a îndreptat hotărât faţa să meargă la Ierusalim.

And it came to pass, in the completing of the days of his being taken up, that he fixed his face to go on to Jerusalem,

52 A trimis înaintea Lui nişte mesageri, care s-au dus şi au intrat într-un sat al samaritenilor, ca să facă pregătirile pentru El.

and he sent messengers before his face, and having gone on, they went into a village of Samaritans, to make ready for him,

53 D ar aceştia nu L-au primit, pentru că faţa Sa se îndrepta spre Ierusalim.

and they did not receive him, because his face was going on to Jerusalem.

54 C ând au văzut acest lucru, Iacov şi Ioan, ucenicii Lui, au zis: –Doamne, vrei să spunem să se coboare foc din cer şi să-i mistuie, (cum a făcut Ilie) ?

And his disciples James and John having seen, said, `Sir, wilt thou we may command fire to come down from the heaven, and to consume them, as also Elijah did?'

55 Î nsă Isus S-a întors, i-a mustrat (şi a zis: – Nu ştiţi de ce duh sunteţi însufleţiţi!

and having turned, he rebuked them, and said, `Ye have not known of what spirit ye are;

56 C ăci Fiul Omului nu a venit să piardă sufletele oamenilor, ci să le mântuiască!) Apoi au plecat într-un alt sat. Costurile uceniciei

for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives, but to save;' and they went on to another village.

57 Î n timp ce erau pe drum, cineva I-a zis: – (Doamne,) Te voi urma oriunde vei merge!

And it came to pass, as they are going on in the way, a certain one said unto him, `I will follow thee wherever thou mayest go, sir;'

58 I sus i-a răspuns: – Vulpile au vizuini şi păsările cerului au cuiburi, dar Fiul Omului nu are unde să-Şi odihnească capul.

and Jesus said to him, `The foxes have holes, and the fowls of the heaven places of rest, but the Son of Man hath not where he may recline the head.'

59 A ltuia i-a zis: – Urmează-Mă! Dar acela I-a răspuns: – (Doamne,) dă-mi voie mai întâi să mă duc să-l înmormântez pe tatăl meu!

And he said unto another, `Be following me;' and he said, `Sir, permit me, having gone away, first to bury my father;'

60 I sus i-a zis: – Lasă morţii să-şi îngroape morţii, iar tu du-te şi vesteşte Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu!

and Jesus said to him, `Suffer the dead to bury their own dead, and thou, having gone away, publish the reign of God.'

61 U n altul a zis: – Te voi urma, Doamne, dar dă-mi voie mai întâi să-mi iau rămas bun de la cei din casa mea!

And another also said, `I will follow thee, sir, but first permit me to take leave of those in my house;'

62 D ar Isus i-a răspuns: – Nimeni care pune mâna pe plug şi se uită înapoi nu este potrivit pentru Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu!

and Jesus said unto him, `No one having put his hand on a plough, and looking back, is fit for the reign of God.'
